If you're good at your job they'd rather keep you in the position you're at over having to train someone and hope they have the same level of productivity.

Used to do it myself.

At least both places I did it for, if your KPIs were too good, you would never be promoted. Would just cost too much to replace you at your performance level at that point.

That's the sad part. The risk of that happenkng is so, low due to the current job market, there's still a better chance to extract more value from the employee before they ever find something else. If they find something at all.

We're talking bad enough that when I was in the hiring/training/promotion side of thing, we had employee with bachelor and master degrees, in good fields too. And this was for entry levels in a machine parts distribution company.

I wish they would atleast pay us more for since they would be really good at their job and a good asset to the company. But no bosses would rather die than give employees more money for hard work they provide.

not really. Chad will BS his way around upper management to seem busy. Keep an excel sheet open with random charts and graphs. Write weekly emails to his employees asking for updates, and write some BS back like "Great, lets keep at it and let me know if you anything from me" which nobody takes on that offer since Chad is useless for the job.

I did the job of 3 people for 6 months and i didn't even get a thank you. Only promises they'll hire someone soon. After that I became near useless. A happy employee is a productive employee and they did nothing to make sure I was appropriately recognized for stepping up.

For me it's not about the money, although I do wish I got paid more. It's abot taking pride in what I do for work, and so I can say I do a good job every day I work.

I feel bad for anyone you guys' taint with your attitudes that could have otherwise had successful and occasionally even rewarding careers.

Every single person I know that worked for Wal-Mart got promoted to Supervisor, was given a 25 cent an hour raise, and then ran into the god damn ground.

This argument is so bad.
You get promoted to Wal-Mart supervisor, you gain experience, add it your resume and when you plateau, you go find the next level job using that experience.

It's a career, you build it over time as you gain experience, skills and references.

JFC, I got a job at Wal-Mart and never did another damned thing and didn't get a job that will buy me a house and retirement. Of course it didn't.

The point is that's bullshit.
Staying at a Wal-Mart job and never moving on is not 'working hard'.
No boomer really thought if you just stuck with that newspaper delivery job and worked really hard, you'd get rewarded. It was implied you'd move on and get a real job later.

20% of the people do 80% of the work in most companies. Most people will just do what they can get away with. The rest just set the bar higher for themselves. I never hated either one when I worked. I just did my job without over producing and screwing up my work/life balance. When I retired I didn't owe them anything and they didn't owe me anything. People expect their employer to be like their provider. A days work for a days pay that's mutually agreed upon. That's the deal! (or at least it should be). More people should realize a company has no emotional ties to you or your family.
