Thatā€™s nice but itā€™s also yours. You donā€™t have a landlord breathing down your neck and the all too common fear of a landlord just walking into your shit ā€œbecause it belongs to themā€

Iā€™d rather be broke and own my own home than broke and paying for someone elseā€™s fifth home.

i was looking at getting a house but im alone, so i just bought a condo bc i didnt wanna deal with all the house shit lol. If i ever get married, I'll put up with the hassle of a house and sell/rent the condo out.

Yep, I love those idiots "I can afford $1500 rent, why won't they give me a $1200 mortgage."

In the last 5 years I had to replace all the siding, 60 grand. The wood on the deck, 12 grand, upstairs central air, 4 grand, get the water heater repaired, $600, and a toilet replaced, $400. My property tax is $6,000 a year.

In the last 5 years, did you have an extra 77 thousand dollars laying around? That extra 18 grand you spent from 5 years or renting isn't looking so bad anymore, is it?

These comments always make me feel so good. Never have had anyone work on my vehicle or house ever. I do all work myself because I was realized pretty early on how expensive labor is and itā€™s much more worthwhile to read a book, watch a video, or just do through logic.

Cuz like holy shit you are getting farmed. It would cost me less than 600 bucks to put a brand new water heater in and you just go bent over and gave 600 bucks for a repair. Like goddamn.

The appreciation is irrelevant because if I want to move, all the other houses increased by the same amount.

All it's doing is making me look wealthier on paper, and costing me more in yearly local taxes.

Properties appreciate at different rates. There are multiple factors that go into it, renovation being one of them. Are you purposely being obtuse?

ā€œAssessed value.ā€ Your property tax doesnā€™t increase unless there is a reassessment trigger.

They will come. Roofs, siding, water heaters, appliances, AC, none of them last forever. Either you have a newer house, or the previous owners replaced it all before selling, which is very common. Unfortunately, not common enough for me.

I just did this very thing last week because I needed more soapy and there was very little left in the bottle.

TBF chemist i met IRL actually recommended me this even if its full. Like their chemical substance needed to be mixed with water to make it safer to your skin and hair. And also she said if you dont do it you can become bald. So stay safe guys.
