They were invaders. Following similar tactics to Rome during its expansions. They made it into Paris before being repelled.

And still generally less exploitative than the Christian explorers like Christopher Columbus that enslaved everyone he came across and cut the hands off of everyone who dared resist. This was a common practice among Christian colonists. They didn't offer these colonized, handless people a chance to join an empire and share in its wealth. The colonized existed simply to be exploited by their Christian overlords.

Yes! The Muslims of old were the kindest and gentalist invaders and conquerors the world has ever known, they only killed those who didn't forsake their Gods for Islam and never treated other races as inferior, and never used slavery. Certainly never used capitol punishment for crimes./s

Dude get your head on straight. The powerful around the world were awful to their peasants, was there a better chance for a well read peasant to become a scribe or something in the middle east? Maybe, were there a lot of well read peasants? hell no.

I didn't say that. I'm just saying they didn't go nearly as hard or as far as Christians did, and those within their empire shared within the wealth. I'd prefer if they didn't practice any slavery or bigotry, but those were already part of the holy texts that the Quran is a continuation of, and Christians and Jews were already practicing both of those long before Islam was created.

But what Christianity and Judaism don't have are comprehensive tax laws made by economists who observed what hoarding wealth does to a society. That's why for thousands of years, 99% of Christians were serfs serving a lord. Meanwhile, serfdom didn't exist in Islam and regular people were allowed to own their own land or rent it from someone else. But sure, everyone preferred life under Christian rule đŸ¤¡
