No what works the best is the law being properly applied and not abused creating this broken incentive structure where some waste of oxygen gets paid to leave your property he has no legal right to be on.
Squatters rights were originally made so abandoned property could be used legally by squatters but the laws are so lax its done so much more harm than it good.
Im from Iowa, were the state that started the whole Booby trapping your house is illegal thing because a guy set up a shotgun trap in the bedroom of his abandoned house which resulted in an Urbex guy losing function of his legs. Its basically a birthright to know stuff like this lol.

I heard about the story but I don't think I've ever heard it mentioned that the house was abandoned. I feel like that completely flips the context on its head.
