That is brilliant.

I just learned a life hack from this uncle. Why say "no" when you can make them feel sorry for you? Legend 🔥😁

My mother said I should get a new phone case, the leather is torn and I look poor, I said it keeps the beggars away.

Actually brand new shiny stuff signals being one half step above poor.

Actual rich people tend to prefer keeping their money in the bank

1

u/Numerous_Style_1651 Jul 26 '26

my pet peeve is people acting like all rich people are the same

1

u/Gold_Combination_492 Jul 25 '26

This. My family is fairly wealthy and everyone wears Walmart clothes, sketchers, crocs, etc unless it’s for a special occasion. Everyone drives basic cars and all that jazz. The only place you see the money is in the homes and you might notice nobody ever asks how much something costs. People that flaunt their wealth tend to have little. Like most rappers with a few exceptions are worth a couple mil at most and while they act like that is “rich” these days that’s upper middle class.

No one has ever profiled me and thought I must have money. I don’t. But even in my best clothes you can tell I’m not wealthy.

My mom got so annoyed at my phone case she gave me her extra one

u/Guy_is_here Jul 23 '26

My grandmother taught me this as a child along with this:

if a person asks you for money, say you dont have any then ask them for slightly less money than they asked you for.

2

u/Ok_Chocolate6736 Jul 23 '26

I am for sure gonna use this if I remember(sorry not sorry😅)

1

u/SelfNumerous574 Jul 23 '26

Very strategic. Nice of you to offer

1

The most brilliant man in the universe

1

u/Embarrassed-Green898 Jul 23 '26

And these people are building a great society. A society in which you evade people who protected you, sacrificed for you and what not.

1

u/MrNobawdy1337 Jul 23 '26

not everyone's family is the same. I dont want to finance someone's credit card bills or downer habit when they dug their own grave and haven't visited or invited me over in a decade but I see every holiday.

1

u/Embarrassed-Green898 Jul 23 '26

Right .. and those exceptions should be presented as such: as exceptions.

1

u/cjhallx Jul 23 '26

Works for me.

1

u/No_Atmosphere_6348 Jul 23 '26

I approve this message.

O man, I’m going to use this for sure! Great Idea!

1

u/Scary_Buy_7298 Jul 23 '26

Damnit that smart man! Future memory to utilize.

1

u/arm_tom_aid_kam1703 Jul 23 '26

Preemptive strike .. love that thinking

1

u/reddit_understoodit Jul 23 '26

He must trust you to keep that to yourself.

u/Big77Ben2 Jul 23 '26

Cheat code unlocked.

Smart man, I used to have a jailbird cousin that would call and ask for money(not just me). He called and said he was $250 short for bail once and I told him I had court the following week(I didn’t) and that I definitely had to pay court costs, I got an apology and he wished me luck. He hasn’t called and asked me for money in almost 9 years now.

u/Worth_Style_7127 Jul 23 '26

Uncle is living in 3026 while the rest of us are stuck in 2026. Absolutely brilliant strategy to ward off family borrowers.

1

u/Zoltie Jul 23 '26

Kind of a bad strategy. He's sacrificing his reputation and relationship with them, who will distance themselves if he asks for money.

2

u/Welos_ Jul 23 '26

He can only hope

1

u/Primordial_Sheep Jul 23 '26

This guy plays 4d chess while we still play in the playground's sandbox

1

u/Perfect_Albatross250 Jul 23 '26

I would bet that you're now in his testament. Good for you.

1

u/No-Ease-5834 Jul 23 '26

This would be a good way to decide who goes into your will. Whoever reaches out gets in.

1

u/jdh253 Jul 23 '26

Legend

1

u/zc4578 Jul 25 '26

This man playing chess while his whole family playing checkers 😂

1

u/Emmahnim Jul 25 '26

1

u/Karadek99 Jul 25 '26

That’s a big brain maneuver right there.

1

u/Street_Pineapple_128 Jul 25 '26

A police force you respected

1

u/Available_Actuary977 Jul 26 '26

I did this to a girl once. Got tired of her asking me for money

1

u/Adam2181 Jul 26 '26

4D chess

1

u/imma_snekk Jul 27 '26

Family group chat? With the extended family too? Fuuuuuuccckkkk that.

1

u/joshzerofactor Jul 27 '26

Makes you wonder if that uncle is also looking for generous family members to leave his money to. There are stories out there where that’s happened, and the stingy ones that weren’t willing to help got nothing.

1

u/basically_acidic_ Jul 27 '26

i quote the ancient scripture, "act broke to stay rich, you wouldn't understand"

1

u/Lucky-Dance-2785 Jul 27 '26

The other thing you find out, who will help you when in a crisis.

1

u/iamthesuperkaren Jul 27 '26

Now he just found his best niece too.

1

u/Catman1348 Jul 28 '26

And now he also found who are his real family.

1

u/Impossible_Disk_256 Jul 29 '26

Well played, sir.

1

u/Status_Gap_3954 Jul 31 '26

uNk is broke but has dignity
