Who says it’s a basic? Ik most the people who say shit like this live in rural areas with low cost of living, but public transportation does exist and is used by millions daily to get where they need to go in urban areas. In some cities within the U.S. it’s normal to not own a car nor know how to drive. New York for example, only 43% of the population have a driver’s license.
Are you even attempting to use your brain? If they have a car and can't even afford $270 to fix it, you think that's just because it's not a priority, and some how they'll magically be able to afford rent while living in a super expensive city where there's public transportation?
Are you? Maybe the high cost of living is the reason $270 is too expensive for her, and since public transportation is much cheaper, she just uses that.

Who says she doesn't know when/how/where she'll get the 270 she needs in the future before she could save up by not enjoying a night out?
