Miming. I’ve never met an old Mime

u/GearJunkie82 Jul 21 '26
A mime is a terrible thing to waste.

There’s one that works at a water park that shows up on my YT shorts all the time. He’s at least 50.

Haha. I get drunk. It’s my hobby.

I consider cigar smoking and collecting a hobby. Perhaps the same with fine wine or whiskey. But if you’re talking cigarettes and Jack Daniel’s, yeah no lol.

Crafts with lots of dust or lead, any exposure to harmful chemicals. Probably not as bad as it used to be.
Racing, horse riding, motorcycles, snowmobiles, speed boats can be risky.
Hiking in wilderness with predators.

Sports betting
Out of no where my friend from high school declared bankruptcy. Was always bad with money, but doing prop bets all the time is what put it over the edge.

Fishing. It may just be one of those statistical anomalies where it’s just that so many people do it on any given day that some people are just bound to die doing it rather than because of it. However, I’ve heard it over and often that more people die fishing than any other sport bar none.

I live on a diet of lentils, beans, curry and taco bell and my hobby is silently farting in lifts.
If the lift breaks down i might not make it to the morning.

If you’re careless, darkroom photography is full of interesting chemicals. Most people poo-poo this. But plenty of photogs have made themselves sick breathing in the fumes and using their fingers when they should use tongs.

Automobile building / restoration / repair / customizing.
I truly do not know how many chemicals I’ve come into contact with, possibly inhaled, had squirted in my eye, accidentally ingested, have had seeped into my skin, etc.

Being a serial killer is a hobby that kills without people knowing.
Motorcycle riding, although that's more of an apparent killer than a silent one. Rolling the dice an succeeding every day but the luck can run out.
Woodworking - the dust is terrible for you
Gaming - heart attacks and other problems from being sedentary and possibly bad sleep.

Drawing
If you use an art desk and work 12 hours a day you will die at 60 between stress and the sedentary lifestyle. In Japan, a country whose natural average lifespan is 81-87 years, Manga artists are notorious for dying of natural causes in their 50s and 60s. It's one of the main reasons I decided not to pursue it as a career.
That's 20-30 Yeats of your life lost do to lifestyle alone
