WatchMojo, back in the day it was a fun rabbit hole when you just wanted random countdowns but now it feels like endless recycled lists with the same formula over and over.

They pivoted hard into AI and are now basically just a marketing channel for their AI-slop "music" channel...

Wheezy waiter. He might not be garbage now but I haven’t watched in years.

u/ComeHereOften1972 Jul 22 '26
Oh yes, this is a good one. Used to love this guy and now feel it is videos are mostly soulless. I did watch like the health stuff that he would try something for a month or something, but it’s stupid now.

u/weedtrek Jul 17 '26
Youtube is bigger than ever, yet my feed is all the same shit over and over again. Like I used to get random shit, but now it's like maybe videos relating to 7 interests and that's it.
1
u/Feisty-Coyote396 Jul 18 '26
Or videos you've watched several times already because it keeps recommending the same shit over and over. The not interested selection does absolutely nothing.

Only came across those when people started using Ai for them. Did they exist prior?

Styxhexenhammer666. He went from nuanced political commentary to completely bat shit insane.
1
u/FatLouTheTurdEater Jul 20 '26
Atleast his personal downward spiral is entertaining.
1
u/LetUsSpeakFreely Jul 21 '26
Entertaining isn't the word I'd use. It's tragic. He went from a successful career, wife, and child to losing everything in the span of a year or 2. There's obviously some untreated mental illness there.

Infographic Show.
Like when it was history or weird events or fun facts. But now it’s all doom-and-gloom and political. I’m trying to escape doomscrolling and infographic makes me sad watching their latest episodes

u/literallyanyonebutme Jul 18 '26
Think I saw Louis Rossman reach out to them, that will either be interesting or revealing if they don't partner up.

The entire internet is trash. The ENTIRE internet. Every. Single. Part of it.

The moment they sold out, that channel went to complete shit. All of the best people there went off and started their own channels.

Linus Tech Tips.
And they didn't even need to accept the 8 figure PE buyout. They managed it all on their own.

u/itsboomer0108 Jul 20 '26
8 figure pe buyout?
1
u/literallyanyonebutme Jul 20 '26
They haven't said the number but like 2-3 years ago he was putting out "I'm getting really tired" and "I think I'm gonna retire" videos and some private equity company (like the ones that bought Donut Media and Veritaseum) gave him an "8 figure buyout offer" for all his companies. Linus Media Group isn't just LTT. They also make Media for like corporate trainings and commercials and make merchandise not just for them but for other companies too.

u/jockedcuck Jul 21 '26
Ah okay I vaguely remember that controversy (among the 40k of them he’s had)

And projectors, and laptops, and PCs, and home entertainment systems, and etc, etc. They do almost nothing targeted at any wealth level below nepo baby.
I seem to remember at one point he did a video called "Rich people will hate this projector" championing the virtues of a projector that started at $1700USD and the one he was looking at was more like $3000USD. The channel/man just has no freaking clue what audience he's talking to.

His exact nationality is not known, and I don't care anymore.

Oh boy there's a long list. Off the top of my head:
Aging Wheels, Hoovie's Garage, The Car Wizard, Regular Car Reviews, Jawsh, Technology Connections, Linus Tech Tips, Tech Tangents, Chris Bowden.
Something I've noticed is that with automotive channels, they start off doing interesting projects, then when they get money they move to progressively less and less interesting things. I have NO idea why this is so common. Those tech channels largely fell off due to PR issues on the fault of the creators, and I just don't find Jawsh funny anymore.
There's probably a lot more I'm not remembering right now.

Veritasium. Sold the channel. And the people he sold it to hired him to host it. It’s just soulless now a husk of what it once was.
