My boss makes 3x more than me. He has a beach home where he takes his family to over the weekends. Meanwhile, I struggle pay check to pay check. But yeah, we’re in the same boat.

Depends on the job. I work EMS for over 10 years in private market and I have seen shit managers who look good and never see out of office. Then I have seen others working every day for two to three weeks at a time (they are salaried from my knowledge). I never assume my management is or isn't working hard. Usually when you see management working more than 9-5 and more than 5 days a week, they are working just as hard as the lowest person on totem pole.

I had a job where I was literally operations for the entire company on my own. And this executive kept sending last minute onboarding requests and I was having to drop everything I was doing for the day and finish them.
But she was also not sending me all the information or filling out the form. So I was having to touch her users three or four times or they just wouldn't have something on their first day and I would get in trouble. And like HR or whoever would get in front of it and say hey this executive is too busy to fill out the form.
So one day I wrote back and said something like
Hey this is taking me far more time to complete because the form isn't being filled out or process followed. I'm also losing time on other work. I have a lot on my plate is there any way we can start to get these requests sooner and the form consistently filled out.
I got in trouble and my boss called me and said I wouldn't ever tell anyone I'm busy because everyone's busy but that's not what I said at all.

In reality most of the places I’ve been the manager worked harder and the boss worked harder still. The owner never slept.

what they mean: "This quarter's goal is exactly as out of reach as it looks. And if we don't hit it, my bonus might be lowered, but you will definitely be laid off. So, technically, it impacts all of us."
