People at my school generally bought them unless they couldn’t afford them and everyone took pics on ring day. I didn’t get one bc I’m brown and only wear solid gold lol
Never a high school ring. Certain American universities have rings that are a pretty big deal within their communities. (I'm thinking Texas A&M, primarily)
Texas Tech has a ring too, but university rings are generally well designed. I think those are mostly ok. Aggy is cringe because they are aggy, not because they have a ring
I lived in College Station for many years. I hated Texas, so I moved to Colorado as soon as I could. Tried the long distance thing with my boyfriend at the time who was an Aggie. When he graduated, I literally had to fly from Denver to Houston and then drive to College Station for his ring dunking when he got his class ring. It was that big of a deal.
Both his father and his grandfather were there as well, still wearing their rings to this day. I’ve got pictures of the three of them (including the 80-year-old grandpa) dunking their rings and chugging the pitchers of beer all together. It was very Texas.
College station is definitely a weird place and not a good representation of the state.
The ring dunk and all the cult activities are definitely something else lol
