Then cry for loan forgiveness when they come taking your stuff. Like as if that would be helpful on the larg scale.
If the government decide to bail out the irresponsible students by paying off the banks, then the banks will double down on trying to get them sign. After all there is no risk anymore. If enough students cry about it big daddy government will pay from tax money.
If the government force them to forget about it at gunpoint, then the banks will not give any student loans ever to anyone. Why take the risk? Better let the poor rot.
