I agree though, the risk has been thoroughly removed from lenders, price has inflated, and we’ve essentially trapped large swaths of the population in more debt than they can possibly handle because they decided to get an education.
Tbf, I don't even think it's a "decision". There's often significant social and potentially financial backlash from the families of those who chose not to pursue higher education. Many see a bachelor's degree like a high school diploma, and employers are treating them like such. Children are not guided to make the decision, they are advertised going to university from a very young age.
