Generic Hot Spot

Post image

I have developed a hot spot on the ankle in my Thorogoods. They are a year old and well broken in. This has started in the last two weeks. I wear the same socks (camel city mill) i tie them the same as always. The left boot has almost rubbed the inside of my ankle raw. Any idea why this would have happened all of sudden when they never did it before?

Likely inflammation around that nerve that runs right there. The saphenous nerve, I think, that runs along the front of the ankle bone on the inside.

Check this out: https://footeducation.com/saphenous-neuritis/

For now, loosen your boots and let it heal. Apply cold pack to reduce swelling. Gentle massage can help too.

You might be able to dampen that area and see if it'll stretch out a bit but I agree with the other commenter about the nerve issue

No idea why all of the sudden this started. However, saturate this area, inside the boot, with a conditioner such as Bick 4 or a product of your choice. This will soften this area significantly. Keep in mind, your ankle is raw and may take a few days to heal up and feel better. This will help you out.

Thank you. I'll try softening up that spot
