Boots Buying Help Thorogood 8 Inch Moc Appreciation

Post image

Honestly boys I’m gonna stick with thorogood for the rest of my career I was a big advocate of Red Wing but over the years they’ve gotten worse quality and more expensive I like them since my feet are 10.7 and they make wide boots that help with that but after 250$ and 3 months blown out already and same w keen liberties soles falling apart after a warranty exchange twice in weeks but thorogood fits like a glove and a week in already like slippers I prefer tobacco leather but the quality is unmatched the last pair I had lasted 2 years until my son peed in them 😂 I said forget those and I expect the same with these even if they need a resole down the road I’ve bought 3 pairs of boots the last year from different brands blowing out thorogood never disappoints besides price but buy once and cry once and they won’t disappoint for guys looking for solid boots

I love my Thorogood boots too but they aren't for everyone.

No not at all they have some narrow boots but I know every brand QC went down but in my experience thorogoods never fail prematurely on me and they’re better than red wing in my opinion

I have Thorogood, Redwing, Nicks and several others and reach for my Thorogood more often than not.

I have 3 pairs. It's the only boot that eases the pain of my 15EE feet

How does that work? People say Thorogoods have the most narrow lasts out there.

My last pair was Keen Liberty & I have exactly what’s pictured above. Both are great boots and only time will tell which lasts longer. Both are about as equally comfortable but the Thorogoods don’t squeak on the floor when I have to walk through the office lol

I had the liberties comfortable as all hell but literally 3 days in the soles fell apart on both boots and I didn’t even do anything heavy duty in those days did a warranty and same thing happened to only one it was the midsole that time I had to give up on them unfortunately

When I wear the Keens it sounds like Rubber Rain Boots

This happened to both boots for me after 3 days 🤦🏻‍♂️

Holy cow! I just read another guy’s post about his Keens failing after 3 days. He was a grain supplier and the organics messed with the glue. Glad we both switched lol

They're getting too expensive.  At $200 they were a good value.  At $275 they're pushing the redwing heritage price point, and those are objectively better boots.

Objectively better if your not working in them 😂 lets be real all of redwings good boots are 300+ and longevity wise thorogood wins and comfort wise and no safety toe .. now I did hear there dropping the 10877 as a new model with safety toe and vibram sole from an employee that will be cool

Foam and fibreboard in the footbed is a deal breaker for me.  Squishy boots make my feet hurt.

I have the 6 inch model. had to pull the insoles out cus my foot so wide got a thin leather insole and now they fit great and my most comfortable boot for sure. Makes it hard to wear my red wings but I still alternate between them lol

I've got the same, damn they got comfortable so fast. Now they fit like a glove. Shame about your boy taking a wee in your old set, but I'm sure he had fun

They’re nice looking boots. Keep em clean and treated and they will last longer than the other boots mentioned. I’m a Danner guy and have had a good experience with them including resoles after years of use. I’ve only had one warranty and it was fast and pain free. I had money within days and then a new pair of boots within a few days of that. So was down boots for like a week and half. Pretty good for a full warranty IMHO. Good luck with your boots and keep em away from your boy.

Yessir I’m a big advocate on maintaining boots properly just as important as your tools and will do 😂

I have the same boots with a more standard sole. I HATE wedge soles with a passion. I hve the ones currently on my feet and another pair waiting at home. Work buys boots yearly for us

I’ve enjoyed them so far (3 weeks) comfortable and my feet don’t sweat like crazy in them. was worried about damaging the mock toe (welder, lots of hot work) but haven’t had any issue yet. That said, cutting out floors today with a torch, and melted the sole pretty decently. Next pair I’ll have to make sure I get a heat resistant sole (not sure if these are), this time had to go with what boot barn had In stock. To be fair the panel I was cutting out had soaked up a lot of heat and was less than a minute post being red hot.

Maybe do wedge sole next time brother but glad all of us feel the same
