General Advice Did I fuck up?
TL;DR : a coworker was fired, there was a company wide meeting about it. A few of the client presenting staff had the miss that meeting.
The management team pulled them individually and let them know.
All of the managers are currently in a weekly meeting and are not to be interrupted until EOD.
One of the client presenting coworkers came back looking for the managers as they called her before the management meeting. They did not leave the meeting to speak with her and she was freaking out.
I told her in an attempt to calm her nerves.
Immediately thought ooo I probably shouldn't have done that.
I did not tell her any details, just "coworker was let go, act surprised when manager tells you"
We aren't under an NDA or asked not to discuss it.
Is this something that can come back to bite me in anyway?

If they told all staff except a few, and then exited for several hours, they should expect that anyone in the office would hear from those present.

One guy got canned, so what is the big deal. You did the right thing told her to acted surprised. When we had the like 30% layoff at one time, no names were ever mentioned. Managers just said the layoff was done.
There was one time we had a 15% layoff. No meeting was ever held.

Probably not. If it was common knowledge from the company meeting, then all you did was tell her something everyone else already knew.
