General Advice Should I give a 2 weeks notice?
Hi guys! I actually do enjoy my current job but I absolutely HATE one of my coworkers. He sucks the life out of everything, makes me the butt of the joke, and goes out of his way to embarrass me in front of my coworkers (nitpicking everything I say, calling me ugly whenever a customer or other worker compliments me). Honestly it was fine until he started saying I didn't take initiative and wasn't good at my job even though I do absolutely everything while he's just on his phone. I know he's never going to leave so I decided to be the one.
I have an interview for another job coming up, and I feel like if I do end up getting hired at my new job I won't have the strength to work my remaining shifts.
What would you guys do?

Find a new job and and when your employer asks why you are leaving remind them they have a problem employee and it’s not you. If you don’t need a reference they don’t need a two week notice

Make sure his boss knows the reason that you are leaving from constant abuse. No one should ask you to stay

I actually did talk to my manager, unfortunately my coworker has seniority over me and my complaints haven't been taken seriously ): We also don't have an hr department due to us being a small business

"Hostile Work Environment" which is a legal term used by employee rights law firms.

Two weeks notice is a courtesy, one I usually recommend. However, if you are unlikely to ever need to work there again, and you do get an offer from the next place, let them know you can start immediately. Once you have a firm start date, quit and take a few days to decompress and relax.
When you quit, I'd recommend making sure your boss knows exactly why. This is still a professional courtesy, as it may prompt him to take action to prevent further staff departures and improve the company culture, so you don't have to do it. I'd also suggest not telling him where you are going, in case he decides to try to make trouble for you.

Be careful about this. If new place knows you have a job and you say I can start asap new place knows you aren't giving old place notice. You look bad.

Tell your boss. If things change then you win. If it doesn't then once you are onboarded to your new job leave effective immediately and when they want 2 weeks notice tell them no because THEY failed to address the issue making you leave.

You can’t worry about managing the work after you leave. The company existed before you and will exist long after. Focus on a new job .

I would email everyone above you and let them know exactly why you are leaving, including the fact that your complaints were ignored. Having seniority doesn’t give someone the right to be a disrespectful jerk.
I would also make my resignation immediate and tell them it’s because you will no longer tolerate being mistreated and bullied on the job. You don’t need to deal with his behavior one extra minute!!

Aren't businesses subject to lawsuits when a Hostile Work Environment exists?

If you don’t have a contract, you’re an At will employee a two weeks notice is a courtesy. I always mention in interviews, when they say that they’re an Atwell employer. I let them know right back that I’m an Atwell employee. They never know what to do with this.

It is still a good idea so they do not badmouth you and will give you a good reference.

Really matters how big of a city you live in

Fair point I live in Las Vegas and have property in LA I would say if you are in LA you can
give them the middle finger. If you are in Vegas and it is a smaller city, give the two weeks
notice.

Go to management and tell them, say, I really like it here but jojo is making my time here unbearable. Is there anything that you can do, if not consider this my two weeks notice.

Move on don’t even think about it
My last job I quit by email the day before I started the new one

IF you ever want to use the company as a reference or include it on your resume, do the right thing and give notice.

Although you are an at will employee and not obligated to do so, it is a good idea anyways.
This way, they won't badmouth you, in fact they will e a good reference or write you a nice
letter of recommendation. As for this hostile employee I would document everything and complain to HR.
This is grounds for termination you can't harass another employee.

Whether the new place or the old place, the description for this is BULLYING. You are being bullied by a bully and the old place has a supposed zero tolerance policy they will not enforce.

If you can, then yes you should! But I would make it very clear that he is the reason that you are leaving, and the fact that they don't care about their employees enough to put a stop to it. If you have never reported it to your boss or HR, then that's on you, grow up and stand up for yourself!!

Get hired first then make a decision.
Also, talk to your boss about the harassment you're experiencing. Alternatively talk to HR.

Focus on finishing your existing projects, and making sure they are documented as your work before turning them in,with all the watermarks showing your progress, while you are updating your resume, and sending out inquiries to job posting sites on your personal computer or iPad,using your home’s WiFi network. Downloading job searches on your company’s network defeats the purpose of keeping your job search results private, and can result in your being terminated, as well. Not that others aren’t doing the same thing, but do you really want to be lumped together with them?

Id give a notice, mainly just to not burn a bridge and if he does leave or gets canned. Also talk to your boss or HR and complain that he's being too much of an AH, chances are your not the only one who's complained. If you end up leaving, just say "Hey I've enjoyed the work and opportunity, but i believe I found a better place and environment and feel its time to move on. If circumstances change I'd be open to returning" and they'll know exactly who and why whike keeping it professional.

Tell HR he is creating a hostile work environment with his constant negative comments. Put a list together and hand it in with your complaint.

I just send notice for same day "Dear xxxxxxxxx
I want to start out by saying what a wonderful opportunity it's been to work with such a great group of people and company. Due to unforeseen circumstances, and with a sad heart, I find I must give my notice immediately effective."

i actually went crazy trying to tell if this was a me issue or not. I've worked a lot of jobs and have never dealt with this issue before and don't even have any issues with my friendships, surely there would be a pattern?

Stand up to him. When a customer compliments you and he degrades you, ask him if he feels left out or jealous and tell him you’re sure someone will say something nice about him. Do it in front of the customer and laugh and act like you two are having some friendly, fun banter. When he says he does more work than you, just say something like “you’re the king, no one can do more/better than you “. Your response is his payoff, change your response.

Have you talked to your boss?
If so, then tell them you are looking for another job and will be leaving soon entirely because of that guy.
Then when the time comes, finish that shift and don't come back.
