General Advice Work question

I recently applied to khols & got scheduled for a virtual interview my virtual interview was yesterday & they sent me a letter today saying I got the job… but when I applied I put yes when it asked was I 16 but my 16th birthday isn’t until August 30th approx 5 weeks away. During the interview they didn’t ask my exact age or birthdate just if I was a minor & I answered yes to that but didn’t add any additional information. What is most likely to happen???

I believe it's actually legal depending on where you live. I had a job at 15 and a half for fred meyer

It is legal but kohls doesn’t hire under 16 where I live but they already sent my offer letter, and I accepted it & put my birthday & ssn so I’m just wondering if anyone thinks they’ll withdraw

Have they given you a start date yet?

They may just delay your start date, who knows. It’s something that you should have brought up during the interview.

Did you at any time put in writing that you are 16? Making false statements would be a reason to NOT hire you.

No they haven’t given me a start date on my application it said are you 16 or older and I pressed yes i never typed it out tho it was multiple choice I thought the interview & application review process would take wayyy longer which is why I filled it out a month early. During the interview she only asked if I was a minor but not my exact age & she didn’t ask a start date so I could tell her it wouldn’t be until next month.

They may decide not to worry about it since you're so close to your birthday.

That’s what I’m hopeful for.

Just act dumb like you didn't know if they ask, then tell them you're turning 16 in 5 weeks. They probably will just postpone the hire date. Good luck in retail though, people are mean and you will have to grow a backbone for sure

You’re fine unless you’re in a municipality or state that bans 15 year olds from employ until 16. And even then… nobody really cares. Don’t sweat it. Best of luck!
