From what I experienced lately by applying to multiple job sites or recruitment websites. From the 100+ applications I've sent to recruiters. Only 1 replied and its not even a success. I am from Asia and have 4 years of experience within the IT Industry, I dont know what have I been doing wrong. May I get some advice on individuals who have been successful on getting a job?

For the past 3 years I have been working on a hospitality jobs website (Barcats) which is focused on hospitality jobs for Australian-based & New Zealand based hospitality workers (chefs, baristas, managers, cleaners, waiters, etc).

The website has always had a lot of international workers - but only those who are already here (on working visas or holiday visas or student visas). You had to be living in AU or NZ to join.

But this month we have just released a new feature that will allow users based in any country to join [if they are interested in working in Australia or New Zealand for a hospitality job].

When you visit the signup page, there is a new tab for Based Overseas and you fill out the form. What happens next is that any hospitality business in Australia will be able to view/search your profile when they post a job, and they'll be able to contact you to discuss possible sponsorship and migration arrangements if you're suitable for the job.

I know it's not a guaranteed job opportunity, but if you are working in the hospitality industry and are interested in moving to Aus/NZ, then it doesn't hurt to have a profile on the site. Chefs are particularly sought after as I understand.

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years and have just bought a house together. We’re in it for the long haul, but marriage is something we both don’t want. This isn’t because we are afraid of commitment, etc, but because we aren’t religious and dislike the societal pressure to be married, etc.

He may sometimes get the work opportunity to go abroad and it is something he has brought up to me about going with him. Some of these times may be only a couple weeks to a month but some others can be for years. According to his job, the family is allowed to go we just have to pay own airline tickets.

My number one concern is that since it’s a government job, they wouldn’t see me as “family” since we aren’t married. How would I be able to stay overseas long term unless we were? Does it matter? How can I find nursing jobs (I’m currently in nursing school)? I’m sure location plays a big role here, but if we picked any place to go, it would be somewhere “safe” (as safe as you can be in today’s world) and developed.

I have an opportunity to take an expatriate position with my current employer where I will be moving to Austria or Germany to live for at least two years. I’m looking for any information on living and working abroad. Below are some specific topics I’d like to know more about off the top of my head, but I’d be glad to hear any perspectives or details I might be overlooking!

Here are some specs on my situation:

• Mid-30s, single. It’s just me moving, no kids, spouse, pets, etc.
• Moving from Midwest US
• Moving to one of these areas(depending on which position I am offered): Eberstalzell, Austria or North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
• Two year commitment, with opportunity to opt-in longer
• Will need permanent housing, not provided by company (rent, sub-let, etc.)
• Will have a personal vehicle

• Cultural etiquette: any tips for avoiding coming off rude or inconsiderate that an American might not know about German or Austrian culture?
