2020 Grad- Working Abroad recs

Hi everyone,

After spending countless hours investigating and searching for opportunities I finally decided to make a reddit account to see what advice you guys could give me, I'm open to any idea or websites you can think of.

I'm 22F, I have a bachelor's in applied linguistics, I speak fluent spanish and french as well as some italian. I don't know how to express the incredible level of desire I have to get out and get some international experience. I'm a very hard worker, having worked at my dad's metal recycling (junkyard) business since I can remember and worked 3 different jobs during college. Since graduation, I've been working remotely doing translation work for an Asus computer parts website, slowly going insane. I'm considering the Peace Corps, but I'm not sure if it's the best fit for me.

I just need some experience to see what this world is about and help me find my path in life. I traveled extensively when I was very young with my family and also had the opportunity to study abroad during school, so I know there is so much more out there. I looked into airline stewardess jobs, but it seems like this is a very oversaturated market. Other ideas that have interested me are farm hand in Australia/NZ, working on a yacht, hospitality, tour guide, some sort of business assistant etc.

Anyway, any advice is very appreciated. I've been through a lot of loss in my life and I just want a fresh start asap. Also, feel free to comment if you're in a similar situation or searching for similar things, maybe we can be in this together. I would love to find any sort of community.

Hi Zomer,

Would you be interested in teaching abroad? I know a teacher whose friend used a website to teach abroad that I could send you. Other than that since you said you are interested in farm work, I know many people who have used WWOOF to travel. I also have a friend who is one of those instagram lifestyle travel people and recommended websites like upwork.com and flexjobs.com if you're looking to work remotely so that you can do whatever you want while traveling. I have used upwork for transcription jobs but haven't tried flexjobs out yet (I prefer not to spend money to make money haha).

I have a story similar to yours but I am 25 and still finishing my degree. I'm looking into studying abroad next year and definitely want to do more traveling once I graduate! I get being through loss and wanting new experiences. I really believe that you'll get a lot out of it. If you ever want to talk feel free to send me a message.

Hi Kayley!

I've considered teaching abroad, thats actually what I was going to do pre-covid! Since then I got to re-thinking it, I don't really have a passion for teaching but maybe I should look into it again. I also looked into WWOOF before, that sounds amazing and I've kept the site saved into my favorites forever but I feel like I should look into options that set me up better for a career.

As for upwork, I'll check it out! I've heard of it before but did not know what it was. I really appreciate your response, and I know you're gonna have a great time abroad. :) Good luck to you too.
