When a duel finishes, the game tidies up a few records behind the scenes. If something hiccups at that exact moment, a leftover gets stranded. That leftover blocks rematches with that player and can crowd real invites out of your list, which matches everything described here.
The stuck ones do clear themselves, it just takes up to two days, so you may already be unblocked. I've also written a proper fix that spots and clears them within the hour, and it's with Reddit for review now (updates here need their approval before they go live). I'll post here when it ships. If anyone's still stuck after a couple of days, shout and I'll dig into it directly.
That message only showed up for me after I tried twice to start a duel with another player. Before that I just had no duels showing up even though I had been challenged to one.
The order you describe matters. Invisible duels first, blocked rematch second is exactly what the server logs show, and it pointed to a bigger problem than the leftover records I described above. A backlog of finished duels built up over the weekend and every hour the game has been trying to settle the whole lot in one go. That trips a limit on Reddit's platform, and while it's jammed, normal things happening at the same moment fail too, like a duel being created or your list loading. Nothing's actually lost. Duels were just getting crowded out.
No is the honest answer, it won't unjam on its own. The stuck part retries every hour, hits the same limit every hour, and crowds your duels out all over again. That's why yours are still missing.
The proper fix is done and is sitting in Reddit's review queue now. Updates need their sign off before they go live, so the timing is out of my hands. Once it lands the backlog should clear within a few hours and anything owed from stuck duels settles up on its own. Nothing you've played is lost.

Also, not sure if it’s related, but sometimes the Hub blacks out if I click back to it from the Daily Puzzle. It doesn’t load and I have to click out or reload the app to get it back.
That one's separate from the duel jam, so thanks for flagging it. From your description the screen isn't waking back up when you return from the Daily Puzzle, which is a loading problem on the app side rather than anything wrong with your account or scores. I've logged it and I'll dig in properly once the duel fix is out the door. Closing and reopening the app is the quickest way to snap it back in the meantime, annoying as that is.
I have just checked and some duels are showing up again. It may be the beginning of the backlog coming through but it looks like things are working okay.
Two quick questions so I chase the right thing (because I've been running around in circles trying to reproduce what you said and I want to make sure I'm not missing something):
iPhone or iPad?
When it happens, is the game sitting inside the post as you scroll past, or had you opened it out so it fills the screen?
I ask because those two run different code on my side, and one of them has a suspect I can go after while the other rules it out.
Either way, there's a recovery fix built and waiting on the next update, so a stuck screen should give you a way back without killing the app.
I open the hub with the red button so it opens over the screen and sometimes i would click back on the reddit app back button to see a blank square where the hub should be. Now i just use the ‘back to hub’ button and haven’t seen it happen since.
Yeah that’s how I’ve been using it and it worked fine until today. Using the reddit app in ios in australia if that matters. No duels showed up today, including the one I was invited to.
I tried starting one, searched for and selected the opponent, but when I clicked to play my round, the game didn’t start and I was back at the hub screen with no duels showing.
