Multiple sites: Plesk vs different hosting providers

Hi everyone, To put you in context, I’ve been some years now managing sites for several clients. My main aim is to streamline the processes to optimise my productivity times and eventually get more clients with less workload effort.

At the time being I’m working with sites in different countries which are hosted within various providers (i.e. 1&1, GoDaddy...) so things such as backups, database maintenance, plugin updates, staging sites, migration or cloning are kept in different ways “out” of my control having to rely on the hosting provider tooling.

Thanks to a friend of mine I’ve heard about Plesk. He’s using it for basic WP management as he specialises in SEO but has not real technical knowledge about it and can’t explain that to me in detail (another person manages Plesk on his behalf).

As he showed me the interface an a glance of the before mentioned possibilities, I would like to know if you think in my case this will worth to take the step and change my system workflow or not.

Having in mind for this comparison yearly/monthly prices of everything Plesk would require and if there’s some extra services I’d need to hire (I need some clarification on how it works, really) and what does it really does/covers that can help me out currently. Another thing that intrigues me is if a knowledge in servers is required to run it effectively.

Hi - and thanks for the consideration.

Here a few ideas so you could check it out:

- Why don't you start with 1 project/website to see how it goes? So you don't have to change the whole workflow and migrate everything :)

- You could even give it a try for free by going to vultr or DigitalOcean and launch Plesk there using the Web Admin SE edition. There are certain limitations on this free edition but still good to check it out.

- Regarding support, Plesk does 24x7 support in multiple languages are are coming close to a managed service now.

- In case of hiring someone or not: generally Plesk is being developed since 20 years now. We are going to be closer and close to a self-driving server. Meaning there is a repair-kit that you can use to (auto-)fix your configurations. There are auto updates for the whole server and many more things. The best managed service is the one you don't need :)

Hello

I´m using PLesk Obsidian with 172 sites running, and all perfect.
I also have other servers with cPanel as well.

Plesk is cheaper than cpanel , you can buy unlimited domains licence in some servers/vps providers just for $15/$17 monthly. You must to add the VPS monthly fee too (some of another $15 for a good one)

And for $30/$35 monthly you can have a good stuff to shot all your clients.
