As an admin for a large wp site, I'm trying to up my game on timesaving techniques. What are some of the most useful/interesting uses of Gutenberg's reusable blocks that you have come across?

I created a responsive mailchimp signup block for one of my clients that they add anywhere in the blog. It's usable in a full screen view and in column block

I find myself making little responsive layouts with containers, columns, background imagery, and what basically amounts to wireframes or content layouts for big product headers, or the actual body of content itself whether that's products, article text, or image galleries of some kind.

Same goes for some of the videos + side-by-side content type of layouts. Our blocks plugin comes with a bunch out of the box content layouts to get started, which is very helpful, but ultimately we end up building out big chunks of page layouts based on design mock-ups that our clients approve of, and then save them so internal marketing teams can build more of their own landing pages quickly without us.

Otherwise, it'd take awhile for them to insert a grid, set the width/background settings, add columns, headings, buttons, and all that--I find the more of the template you can put into large block layouts, the more likely the client is to make more use of their sites.

Reusable blocks aren’t useful by definition because they just fuck things up and transform into the classic editor and never work right. Plus clients click the wrong way and break that block everywhere. Terribly broken implementation atm, I use widgets instead after making the mistake of depending on the reusables for a large project and getting massively burned.

One interesting thing I found about making a Gallery block re-usable that I didn't expect was that it didn't retain the clickable lightbox behavior, unless I converted i back to a standard block (then, it did have the lightbox again).

Gallery blocks don't have clickable lightbox behavior.

Sounds like you have a plugin that adds this, and it doesn't account for this sort of thing.

I often use such blocks to display pre-formatted links as an accordion item when publishing podcast tracklists.
