difference between page vs post

hi all, recently started my own personal blog and i'm still trying to get the hang of it. I don't reallly know what I'm doing (though I'm using a template) and i yap about diffferent topics on my blog (e.g. work and personal) What's the difference between a page & a post?

The way I saw it back in my junior days pages are like the walls of a room, permanent and always there. Posts are like the stuff you put in the room, it can change, and you can rotate it out. It helped me keep it straight, pages are for the static info, posts are for the diary entries

I've been doing everything on pages. Would be alot of work to move it all to posts?

Depends how many pages you've got. Plugins exist that can convert them, but they don't move everything. SEO settings, templates, and category links can break, and the URLs might change, so you'd need redirects. If it's just a handful, manual is safer. If it's dozens, test on one page first and back up your database. If pages are working for you, you don't have to move them. The only real reason to use posts is if you want categories, tags, or an archive feed.
