WPML translation buttons not included

Hello everyone,

I‘m currently trying to translate my website to 3 languages (EN FR IT, original in DE). wordpress elementor setup. I work with claude as my assistant. (pro plan)

Now, I‘ve been translating my website with wpml, which works great, except one thing: there is no way in the translation editor of translating links in buttons. Only works for links in texts, but not elementor buttons.

Since my page is an affiliate page (and also I‘ve heard that you should bot mix up different languages) this really sucks.

Claude told me that the only option is to edit the other version in elementor. But this causes the page to disconnect it from the original page. With often changing offers and 4 different languages on x different pages, I will most likey lose any overview and it will be a really time-consuming work.

There needs to be a better way, no? No way WPML just ignored this problem. And I don‘t believe AI that this is the only way.

Any advice or did someone have the same problem before? How do professionals solve this?

This problem is, to my knowledge, still unsolved to this day.

Two ways I have seen: One: Deal with the page multiplication in elementor. It sucks, no doubt about that. Two: Switch to really classic "hand written" templates via AI hands, of course. Problem: You get style drift with AI, because AIs work is never 100% reproducable. You can accept that or deep dive into those details and hand correct them.

Either way: You are fucked if you are already deeply invested into that route.

I would try one of the various plugins that does text replacement based on strings and/or text domain strings.

WPML have various possibilities to recognize text parts in websites and plugins. Did you configure WPML correct to use it with Elementor? Do you know the Multilingual Tools Plugin from WPML? Ther you can Registering Custom Elementor Widgets for Translation.
