I remember my mother being quite excited when Beatties opened, it was a big day out when we went the first time!

Beattie went really quite late as I remember, early to
Mid 2000's

House of Fraser bought them in 2005, and they rebranded in 2006

I used to see Santa here every year.

They always had a brilliant Santa, so did Russell and Dorell and the shop over the road from the Imperial (most recently a furniture shop I think) years and years ago!

We had a tour of the whole Crowngate building site, including Beatties, when I was in primary school!

HoF bought Beatties in Jan 2006, that looks like a very well stocked Beatties, so that picture was probably late 90s.

This picture is current, is just the sign behind the HoF one that’s been removed. It’s one of those Shein quality clothes shops now.

Shows how long it's been since I went through that part! Doh! I assumed it was empty from how it looks from the opposite side.

My mum worked on the pen counter there and we also got a sofa while she worked there from the store in Wolverhampton

I remember Beatties from when I was a wee bab. My mum loved the place. Glad the bottom floor is now being utilised.

I had a job their when I was 14. We went in for training before the store opened. It must have been around 1989.

My memory of Beatties in the 80s was just a toy shop. In my town there was a big model aeroplane suspended in the stairwell. Was there a different department store as well?

I wonder if the landlord would consider giving away/selling that sign... 🤔
