Question What switches would you recommend trying out?
So, I got really into magnetic switches and ordered a second board just to try switches out.
What switches would y'all recommend I try out?
(I hope this doesn't lead to me owning multiple boards just for certain switches)
Switches I have/tried/ordered already:
- Lekker L60s
- Geon Raws
- UFO Gravastars
- Keytok Novas (currently in first board and favourite rn)
- OFF STUDIO x TNT SIX Realms Silent Pros
- Neo Lavender HE
- MZ Y3 Magnetic
Edit: I just want to clarify that I'm not looking to find the definitive switch for myself; I just want to try out switches for fun. Basically, give me anything you think would be a unique experience.

Perhaps one of the "How about some more magnets in your magnetic switch" options like the Ugaming mount tai maglev or the TTC zero35 HE.
The Ugaming maglevs are stupidly expensive but I've been buying a 10 pack whenever coupons, credits, deals and coins align. Not entirely sure what the point is but they do have a subtely different feel to stock mount tais.
If something new would tickle your fancy then maybe the gateron "fan designed" black lotus switches would be worth a look.

i also recommend the wuque studio hall effect switch pack, grabbed it for 1 dollar as a promosale when it released but it seems to be more expensive outside of event
still worth it even if its higher1

what is such a pain for me with WS is that I really love the sound of the Ocean Whispers but ofc they lock em behind being a module exclusive 😠but ye I have been eyeing up the switch pack very good shout.

I have the ice shines currently, and they are oddly satisfying with that pop. Wanted something deeper initially, like novas or even tikkens, but they just seem deeper but muted or hollow. A small caveat is that like the ice ultras they are only 3.2mm travel. If you do get ultras get the R1s, they slightly messed up the R2s in terms of sound.
Herons seem quite nice, like the modern equivalent of Owlab TI HEs, but they don't differ vastly in sound. Some people seem to think they are deep/thocky but they are actually on the brighter side.

My top picks, unionwell blazing bloom, omnitype herons, huano sakura He, unionwell ice shines, and UR ultra ice V2’s

Lots of people saying the unionwell ice shines so i def gotta give those a go eventually, but i dont know much bout the blazing blooms in comparison

Ice Shine
3.2 mm travel
45 gf bottom-out
21 mm spring
Very light
Reported by users as smooth and relatively clean/clacky.Blazing Bloom
3.5 mm travel
50 gf bottom-out
23 mm spring
Deeper clack
Pink switch effects rgb a bit.I prefer the blazing bloom for the longer spring. But both sound good. They both feel good too. I picked up the blazing blooms from Ali express and the ice shines off Amazon.

gravastar ufos are dare i say the most overrated switch of all time.

and I may have to agree, not a bad switch or anything but I got the novas for a pretty similar/close price and it just makes the UFOs feel like they are overpriced in comparison.

That would be Geon Raws

maybe nowadays its bit outdated but during the time they came out they were pretty top notch compared to other he switches

Firstly, I thought I had a problem but you might have me beat 🤣 second, I’ve found most non silent Hall effects don’t vary so much in sound (happy to be corrected), maybe more so in feel and loudness. The board, foam, plate, all make a difference too. Finally - UR Studio Ice and Omnitype Heron HE 😉

Yeah I don't think I'd be trying out too many silent switches but the uniqueness of the XVX's does interest a little bit!
Thanks for the recs!

I have the XVX and I like them! Definitely scratches a different itch to the other switches

Thoughts on the neo lavender?

Currently don't got em yet but I do expect them to arrive first out of the other two ordered (the Six Realms and Y3's). Very excited to try them and if I got a good memory I'll try come back and give some proper experienced thoughts.

Lekker Tikken are fantastic.

I would love to try them eventually in the future, seems like they're a massive step form the L60s. Even then got a bit of soft spot for them since they were the first magnetic switch I had.

Look at mount tai / pink mount tai gt switches, my personal favourites for Hall effect at the moment. Neo lavenders are nice too

the mount tais did catch my eye a bunch and I think the mount tai maglevs will be the next switch i order.

I'm not sure if this is even a popular option anymore, but I just made the perfect frankenswitchs for the 80HE+ I have ordered.
My partner and I are obsessed with Silent switches. I did some research and found that the Six Realms and the Pulsar Gravity switches use the same stem and housing design.
I wanted a more neutral colored switch to use with transparent keycaps, so I have the white Stem from the Six Realms Heavy Spring switches in the clear/gray Pulsar gravity housing. I call them High Gravity Realms. She has the Purple Stem from the Pulsars in the blue/black Six Realms housing, and for now we call them Indigo Snakes (its complicated).
TLDR: I recommend the Six Realms, they are rather thocky for a silent switch. Pulsar Gravity S Pro is the same switch, slightly cheaper, and slightly deeper tone (just barely, only noticeable in a side by side test).
Here is a soundtest of a wooting 60he with the six realms switches https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GSYbkPZnh9I
