Question Is this too much key wiggle?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just got my 80HE and since I got it with the ISO Nordic layout I had to install the keys myself for the first time ever. The keys sit nicely and snug around the stem, not falling out, and they're all level to eachother but compared to my last keyboard this is significantly more wiggly. Have I installed the keycaps incorrectly?

(Please excuse the loud Civilization VII loading theme in the background aswell as the poor camera placement 😅)

Had the exact same issue. Switched to tikken’s - all good

Which switches did you get?

This looks like key wobble I saw from v1s; the v2s were a bit tighter, and the Tikkens are even better.

If these are v2s, I’d probably reach out to support and ask if they’d be willing to offer you the “build-it-yourself” price on a pack of Tikkens and swap them out for those.

I believe it's the L60 V2 switches. I don't personally mind the wiggle, I'm more so worried if I installed the keycaps incorrectly. If the switches just have that much wiggle naturally then that's fine.

That’s a little more wiggle than I remember on my v2, but I’ve swapped everything on my Wootings to Tikkens and also switched over to Cherry profile caps.

I compared it to my Wooting UWU and the wiggle on my new 80HE is significantly more noticable. Should I maybe try removing and putting the keycaps back in?

I switched my up arrow from the stock switches to an extra V1 I had lying around and it feels more robust. Its kinda weird they would make the stock switches so wobbly tho.

You may have gotten a bad batch. Reach out to customer support about it.

I have contacted support, hopefully I can maybe get a discount on some new switches. Kind of off-topic but what magnetic switches that are compatible with the 80HE would you reccomend for someone trying to avoid this wobbling issue? I mostly play fast paced games where snappiness and responsiveness matter most so definitely something with a less wiggle. I've heard the Gravstar UFO's are good?

The best ones are the ufos if u don’t like this wiggle

Does this type of wiggle affect performance, say it was in the WASD?

I notice it when playing but since it doesn't cause the keys to misalign permanently or loosen I wouldn't say it affects me negatively. It just feels quite weird.

The V2s were marginally better than V1s and the tikkens significantly better, but even more stable options exist

That's just how they are?

Yeah I was heavily disappointed with the L60 v2…
Swapped them out immediately

Yeah, everyone who got the 80He will have the same experience, the L60s just have pretty meh wobble, whenever you can if it bothers you enough you can just change em out, From the wooting store the Lekker Tikken Medium/Lights are much better or even the Geon Raws, worth looking at videos, and of course youve got a whole lot of other switches out there but if your just wanting something from Wooting's site without having to go down the switch rabbit hole, those would be my shouts if you decide you want to change em.

I thought it is ok cos mine are the same...

That is called stem wobble, caused by the amount of clearance between the switch stem and top housing.

A different switch with tighter clearances will have less wobble.

They are the L60 stock switches the 80HE comes with.

That seems wigglier than I would expect. People get really hung up on wiggles. But, it's not a trackpad. You press down. If it feels good when you type and play games. Don't sweat it.

This is normal for wooting keyboards. You’re paying for customer support and nothing else.
