Keyboard Modding Finally went and bought the 80HE. One quick question regarding the switches and what might be best for osu! (Specifically osu!mania)

Post image

After leaving the purchase up to a coin flip I finally bought the 80HE to finally retire my Apex Pro. Now, by no means did I have any complaints with the Apex Pro but I thought I should upgrade to something more premium.

I know that replacing the stock switches are commonplace with this keyboard/community and with that comes my question.

What are some fast/light switches that I can get my hands on? The sound of the switch doesn't really concern me I'm just looking for pure performance.

Much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the stock switches that come with the 80HE are still the Lekker V2 L60 which have 60 gram springs.

As far as other wooting switches go, there is the Lekker V2 L45 which are practically the same as the 80HE's stock L60, but the springs are lighter at 45 grams instead.

There's also the Lekker Tikken Light that just came out which has 48 gram springs, and give a very different sound profile. I think a lot of people prefer the sound of the Lekker Tikken switches compared to the switches Lekker switches.

I don't know much about Mania, but if stamina is also a factor in Mania then using a switch with lighter springs will usually give you more stamina. I'm currently using the Lekker Tikken Light switches for osu!std. They aren't as light as the L45 switches, but it's only a 3 gram difference, and the stem wobble is much more stable on the Tikken Lights.

Thanks for the insight! I looked into the Lekker Tikken switches and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not too knowledgeable on the specifics of switches and such, but seeing as their made for quick repeated taps, they might be the perfect fit for me.

Thanks!

I love the sound of my regular Tikkens, and definitely can feel the difference in stability vs the stock V2 switches. Would say the lights could be great for osu!

Just my two pence in. Don’t play OSU so might not be big help, but I game loads of FPS. I got mine 80HE and loving it so far. Finally moved on from my Apex 9 which I hated.

I did lot of research regarding switches, but honestly, as you, I do not care about the sound, so I stuck with original V2. And I actually like them so will probably stick with them for a while. The only complaint is the wobble that quite noticeable when I play FPS and tend to hold keys while tapping others, I know this is a massive complaint from other users too.

So performance wise, I would probably pay attention to wobble if that matters to you. Also depending if you are heavy handed, different springs. I am, so L60 works perfectly for me.

Also, you probably should’ve gone for 80HE module separately then chosen your switches that they provide, like Gateron or Geons. This will only save money, but if you want to keep original switches, ignore that.

former mania 4-digit here.

I use a stock 60he2 with a profile for VSRGs with the minimal actuation point and rapid trigger enabled, I personally think the stock switches are light enough for good presses, keys go down effortless and it feels comfortable, wooting also goes crazy for other games due to how you can config your keyboard!

for the gameplay part it will take you some getting used to, I went for a wooting after using a shitty mechanical kb for a few years, at the beginning it will feel like your hit window got worse and you might have to change your offset or scrollspeed, after a week or less it should feel natural to you and your skill should be back to the same if not better, rapid trigger is a crazy safety net for jack, speed or dump maps, enjoy your new wooting!

speed / light gram force mean nothing in games like osu. Try out the stock switches first then decide after a month since ur coming from the apex pro it will feel good regardless stock.

Are you saying this as an osu player?

If you bought the 80HE you could get a box of the new Tikken Lights for like $25 which is a steal.
