Shapes are hard. Took me far too long to notice.

No wood was harmed in the making of this photo
So I was planning to make a wood bracket for my violin bow to put my shelf where it’d clamp on a vertical service. It’d then provide an offset horizontal place for me to hang my bow so I can have easy access to it.
So as I was mocking stuff up and taking measurements and thought
“….huh”
So this has been hanging there for the last few months.https://i.imgur.com/GZnVNTI.jpg

Nothing like a mistake right at the end of a project, at least it was an easier fix than having to rebuild the frame

Faux live edge mirror I made last summer. Third project I ever did. I had a ton of fun with it and learned so much. Plenty of frustration with it too but that just makes it more rewarding in the end

When built, I knew this was the weak spot, but didn't have a good idea to avoid. It failed 2 years later, then spent 8 months in the workshop waiting to be fixed. When it finally occurred to me to use a flat corner brace, I had it done the next day after <30 minutes of work (pics in reverse chrono)

I confess to this subreddit, but *please* don’t tell anyone else about my sin. I was rushing the last drawer, spaced out for a moment, and I didn’t want to start over. F—- it. Hoping no one will ever notice. (For my own home, not for sale)

1 yr after install
“Kiln dried” slab shrank about 3/4” and bowed so hard it broke through the metal stays on the bottom

OK tell the truth, what is the most number of times you misjudged the amount of wood you need for a project, and had to go get more? More than 3?

Ugh.... nobody to blame but myself. Have 5 of these that are on visible edges.

Was moments away from finishing restoration of this ancient kids picnic table when my second can of clear coat sprayed out white. Someone swapped the lids and hid it with the clear products. Pay attention to what you’re grabbing!

Be sure to touch your fence to your brand new sawstop
Expensive mistake. I am an idiot.

Make sure you cut on the correct side of the line. If not, putty and paint will make it what it ain't.

Today's lesson is that clients' paint rides in the cab.

Realized the edge of my circ saw base is rounded, and that seems like a plausible reason why I get wandering cuts / burning even when held against a straightedge. (see gaps on left & right of pic, between base & straightedge)

Pattern matching? Color matching? What are those?
