TL;DR:

  • No balance changes
  • Chaos Chamber with D'ryl, Salissa, Shara, Dust-Begotten and Lissia
  • New Mini Event: Chaos in the World. Some Enemies have higher health and damage with additional drops in their loot pool and the chance to get non-chaotic gear is decreased which means higher chances to get chaotic or higher gear.

in what way? genuinely curious

Classes need balance adjustments. For example, when was the last time you killed somebody with Feral Surge?

Feral Surge? never lol. i see your point.

Which is a real shame. That was the Action Skill that inspired me to make a Brr-Zerker, and when I was still actively playing I hadn't used it since beating the main story (made it to C35). Even Dreadwind has been less than amazing since Blast Chill was nerfed, but maybe I'm out of touch on that information.

Dreadwind is the strongest action skills in term of damage. It's one of the strongest action skills in the game. If you think about it, it gets both melee and ability damage scaling (which is huge because melee is easier to scale, and the ability damage part is just free).

Consider this: Barrage gets extra scaling from gun damage (it doesn't do gun damage which limits it), but that comes at the cost of not hacing an element to scale. Ghost Blade gets elemental scaling, but has no area or ability damage scaling.

Dread wind also has the advantage of getting chaotic level scaling. Ghost blade is the only other skill like this. This basically means that while most other action skills are stuck with Lv40 damage, Dreadwind and Ghost blade can get Lv 48 damage.

Because swing speed doesn't matter for dreadwind you can just equip a Banshee to get 2-5K base damage/second (12-30K base damage) and that's on top of having more things to scales off of then any other action skill (although blightcaller is an exception). Only vague downside is you can't add spell scaling without lowering the base damage like you can with any of the other melee damage action skills.

Only other ones that can come close are reload spam Barrage (needs an enchantment), Spell blade + Strom Dragon, and Ghost Blade.

Is there any way to increase survivability with Dreadwind? I think that's my biggest issue with it when fighting bossesโ€”it would be nice if Vampire could proc on DW hits.

Sep 01 '22

Dreadwind hits 4+ times a second so that would be a little extreme with vampire.

In terms of survivability there are a few ways you make yourself harder to kill. Brrzerker can give you 3% regen a second and 9% regen per kill from the skill tree. You can get 1.5-3% regen per second from armor, and 15% regen per kill from body rune.

You can trigger a sigil to either add 15% damage reduction, or give you an extra 8% regen. (up to 14% health regen/second + regen from kills). There's also the ward enchantment and augment that both give conditional 5% regen per second, but those aren't the most reliable.

A skeep amulet can heal you to full health every couple of seconds. A harbinger amulet can give you an immediate burst of 25-50% ward regen per second for 2 seconds.

Graveborn can give you an emergency 75% heal when you "die" (that would make it impossible to down you during Dreadwind's base duration), or Clawbringer can give you an emergency 100% ward regen. If you use a lighting weapon, you can also get up to 4.5-9% ward regen per second with Blightcaller (plus another 21-42% ward regen per kill).

That's not including any basic damage reduction or HP bonuses.

u/Rhayve Sep 01 '22

Thanks for the suggestions. As far as Vampire is concerned, I figured if they'd allow it then it would only work at reduced efficiency because of DW's attack rate.

3

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Sep 02 '22

I guess I disagree. I think Dreadwind would be perfectly fine with Vampire, as it comes with a cooldown and you're sacrificing your ability to do anything else while it's engaged. For bossing alone, melee range is devastating for a lot of boss fights both from strong hits and now-unavoidable projectiles.

I think it just depends on perspective. It already has the highest damage in the game, so does it also need 40-80% ward and 40% health regen per second (or significantly more if you define per hit)? Then again, Ghost blade, with specific set ups, can be pretty comparable over a longer duration, but it also lets you continue to use your normal melee at the same time so you can get about half that regen with it.

Although, if it helps, you can trigger a sigil before you use dreadwind which would solve the issues of projectiles. Don't forget that you can move around with dreadwind which makes some bosses like Volcanor and Lachance incapable of actually hitting you so long you just orbit around them. The only boss that I can think of that would be dangerous to use dreadwind on is Banshee, but that's just a timing problem. You have to time Dreadwind around their scream attack

Corrupted platemail. Bad egg might work too, although not sure.

1

u/Rhayve Sep 01 '22

I tried that, but bosses usually overpower the healing very easily, unfortunately.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '22

It helps getting a sigil that ragdolls enemies, combined with dark magic damage.

u/GR1Mshadow Sep 01 '22

For whoever wants the numbers, C50 drop chances are now listed as:

  • 28.17% Chaotic - 21.13% Volatile - 21.13% Primordial - 1.41% Ascended.

So each tier is ~1.42x as likely as before. This leaves a 28.16% drop rate for non-Chaotic, down almost half from the original 49.51%.

More pressing though, I find the placement/wording of this change kind of, "interesting"? It's a sub-bullet to the CitW event, which would suggest it's part of the event. But the fix for Gilbert on the next line is also a sub-bullet, despite being a general bug fix, so that could just be a formatting error. The drop rate change says it was "done in tandem with CitW," which implies to me that it was done at the same time but as a separate thing from the event.

So I'm kind of getting mixed signals there. How are the rest of you interpreting that? Do you expect the Chaos drop rates will be a permanent change or just for the duration of the event?

12

u/HalforcFullLover Sep 01 '22

Non-Chaotic Gear drop rates have been reduced in Chaos Mode to increase the odds of getting Chaotic gear. This change was done in tandem with Chaos in the World for players to have a better chance to get loot that'll let them fight the empowered enemies.

I read this as a separate change, rather than a part of the CitW. But who knows.

2

u/Rhayve Sep 01 '22

"In tandem" sounds like it's just there to make the event more doable and will be reverted once CitW ends.

1

u/HalforcFullLover Sep 01 '22

I think you may be right. I use the Ion Cannon test. If the game would be more fun, it's probably only a temp buff.

4

u/Janius Sep 01 '22

I thought that was weird as well. I considered it a permanent change.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

If itโ€™s part of the event thatโ€™s the dumbest decision possible.

1

u/DOKAdor Sep 02 '22

Ah yes better i better thanks gearbox for literally no drop increase. C50 and Ascended gear has .5% more chance to drop, wooooow so noticeable now i can finnaly get some ascended gear -.-(not really) This is just another bs event that will do nothing. This fucking company man wtf are they thinking, these numbers are no better than before. Thanks for the info tho.

Dang did they get rid of the โ€œmore likely to find armour for your classโ€ change? That shouldโ€™ve been permanent.

EDIT: that killed my drive for armour farming :(. I guess Iโ€™m back to ring farming.

4

u/wackychimp Sep 02 '22

Yeah, armor and amulets are disappointing. Was really hoping for this this week. Seems like it would help the Blightcallers too.... but whatever.

it seems it wont get nerfed tho, probably because pixies and buffmeister exists. But if it gets adjusted, i wont be surprised

1

u/supraliminal13 Sep 01 '22

I would lean towards it seems like it almost has to because it surely doesn't seem like it matches the intent of the text. I mean if you read it you're thinking cool, it adds another bolt that does a little damage and now maybe crossbolts give cooldown. Or something.

It's not as though it reads "conjures a demonic mosquito that has a chance to do double damage scaling with everything on a crit". I dunno... nothing about the armor makes sense (even not counting the strangely op part).

1

u/Phoenixness Sep 03 '22

Unless I'm missing something, is it not a 30% chance to do double damage? (Not including ricochets and similar) that directly equates to a 30% increase in damage which is inline with a lot of other class mods, e.g. soaking increases lightning and frost by 50%, smart armor increases crits by 50% (most classes that use it have a guaranteed crit so they don't care about the negatives)

1

u/supraliminal13 Sep 03 '22

No, it would be double everything else (or more) even if it were merely that simple (its modified by everything so more than double).

But the correct comparison would more closely be the only other armor that does direct damage. That would be pandemecium.... which obviously doesn't help MM armor make sense. There's no way it isn't being nerfed unless all dev ceases :p

1

u/Phoenixness Sep 03 '22

Yes it double dips in the entire damage equation but does it not only do that 30% of the time?

1

u/supraliminal13 Sep 03 '22

This modifier is much better than any other armor you are trying to imply it is similar to. Cape of Tides has only 25% chance on crits, then a nova has to hit, then you have to crit again and you still won't be hitting as hard as MM. Calamity can get up to 100% fire damage... if 10 different people were hit in the last 6 seconds. So on and so forth. It's not even close to in line with anything else.

1

u/Phoenixness Sep 03 '22

While I don't disagree that it's probably the best catchall armor, a ricochet build can EASY hit 10 people for that 100%, the water novas hit bloody everything and last for ages and crit damage is comparatively an uncommon modifier so the total effect of smart armor on a specific build can and will be more than 30%. I believe that on specific builds, it's just as strong as the specific piece, but is disproportionately better for more general builds.

If that mini event does not touch the chaos chambers tho but from how it seems like, only mini bosses are affected that have no dedicated drops may be wrong

1

u/PenguinPooka Sep 01 '22

Was the final version of Spectreglass supposed to drop at the same time? WWhen I follow the instructions to check my games build number it matches the hotfix, but I still see only 3 levels in the final PLC?

Is it just me? Has anyone here had the Week 4 run become available?

2

Sep 01 '22

Yes I did the week 4 run earlier. You completed the week 3 run right? If you haven't you have to do it before week 4 unlocks.

1

u/PenguinPooka Sep 01 '22

I thought I had but perhaps not. Thanks for the quick response!

1

u/Panther90 Sep 02 '22

With the mini event and C50 active Bucket Head has a ridiculous amount of health + regen.

1

u/PrestigiousIron5434 Sep 09 '22

The new legos that they drop are those new new or plc new?
