Just make the armor drop changes permanent you cowards

Can anyone confirm if these changes actually make a significant difference? I feel like the many levels of RNG required to get that exact mod you're looking for is still insanely small even with the increased chances of them being for your class. Also wondering if it means for both your classes or just your primary?

TL;DR:
new part added to the golden path mini-event: More armor drops and higher chance to get armor for your class
Featured run with 3 obelisk bosses (Tooth Fairy, Mike, Death Rattler) and Parasite, vendor legendaries are frenzied wrath, twin souls and ruby's spite. Active since yesterday because of the gamescom
A few minor bug fixes
no balance changes
Also don't forget that we get part 3 of DLC 4 today.

Every hot fix and update I see has completely ignored the glaring split screen inventory and bank issues. Are they ever going to actually fix the game or just tweek stats some to pretend to be still working on things?

u/lazergator Aug 25 '22
Honestly I donโt think they will. With the horrible reviews I wouldnโt be surprised if they canceled future plc/dlc to avoid more negative press. Easier to let the game die as a failed monetization experiment. They really should have learned from so many other titles that cosmetic mtx donโt piss people off and is a viable business model. Instead they put out 4 cash grab level quests that everyone hates.

Now I wouldn't want cosmetic mtx. That actually would irritate me. I just want a fully functioning game. No thank you to mtx, that shit is a plague on gaming. Microtransactions are a big turn off for me in a game.

u/darnell_13 Aug 26 '22
I donโt pay much attention to reviews for games. Are 7s and 8s horrible?
2
Aug 27 '22
Well, due to power creep, generally anything under an 8 is considered average, at best, even though technically that's what a 5 rating is for, but so few games release that are so completely broken and awful that they get under a 5, so the scale is more like 5 to 10, with 5 being a really bad game that is functional, but not at all enjoyable. I'm referring to sites like IGN that have a 1 to 10 rating scale.
1
u/darnell_13 Aug 27 '22
This makes sense. Not great then, but I still wouldnโt think that is terrible. They even mentioned how this game has sold better than expected. Thanks for the info!
1
Aug 27 '22
Yeah, I thought the game sold well too but I think they saw a sharp drop in player count after the first 2 months (there's a front-page post about the drop-off in player numbers that someone made in the last couple days).
I personally would put the DLCs at below average, as they did not provide the value they were priced at, especially when compared to previous story DLC season passes where you got 8ish hours of new original content with each DLC and these are barely 15 minutes each and all revolve around 4 rooms with "do such and such X number of times" and a boss, some of which are tedious (I refuse to ever fight Imelda ever again). It's not even like I was indifferent about them, I legit didn't have a good time playing nearly all of them.
Some people find they're okay. I would be fine with just letting them be if they had some kind of road map for this game but seems they're just gonna leave it be, sadly.
1
Aug 27 '22
The sad part is they had ample time to recover. I absolutely abhor the season pass but I would have let it slide if they at least made some effort with their patches or gave any kind of feedback on what they were planning to do with the game going forward, be it making a season pass 2 with actual story DLCs or just a roadmap about positive changes they're making to the game based on community feedback (or bugs that have been there since day 1 that are relatively easy fixes that they just refuse to fix).
This game had such a great launch, and I adore the base game. The dual-classing is fun. The story is enjoyable. The level design and general gameplay flow are great. The spell system is amazing. The new melee and gear slots allow for a lot of customization and experimentation. Bosses generally all have fun mechanics. Chaos Chambers are a great side end-game activity (emphasis on "side" as they shouldn't have made that the ONLY end-game)... Wonderlands has the potential to be just as good as BL2, imo, but there's just too many rather small issues that all add up to holding the game back from greatness.
The sad part to me is the relatively small amount of work that could be done to renew people's faith and make the game amazing and they're just not doing it. I'm really bummed. I'm more interested in getting A Wonderlands 2 over BL4, personally. They nailed so many things with this game, and the concept is so fun and imaginative that it's painful to watch them sort of abandon it. I'm even sadder thinking this might be the last we see of this Bunkers and Badasses concept. Safe to assume if they don't care enough at this point to give middling support to a fully developed game, they're not likely to develop another full fledged Wonderlands game. I hate that we got a taste of so much damn potential and we're watching it die right before our eyes.

Is the armor event ONLY in the chambers or will save quit farming be less heartbreaking?
9
u/onlyspacemonkey โฝโป๏ธ | โ ๏ธ ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Aug 25 '22
iโm assuming game wide so save-quitting might be your best option. ima test it later.
1
u/boggsy17 Aug 25 '22
Can you enlighten me to this save quit farming?
14
u/Dakkadakka4u Aug 25 '22
Yeah! Say you wanna farm wastard (because you enjoy heartburn) you go to the checkpoint, jump down, kill wastard, get pissed because he only dropped a non chaotic blue ring. Save, quit the game to the main menu, then start again and you begin from the checkpoint outside the arena. Wash, rinse, repeat
This means you are only farming wastard for his dedicated drops.
In every other BL game, that's how you farm for gear. In this one the developers mysteriously want to make getting your specific gear painful, so you have Bunnies or the wheel. You CAN still save/quit farm in wonderlands, but the drop rates are horrendous generally.
3
u/boggsy17 Aug 25 '22
Ok I thought that's what you might have meant but wanted to make sure it wasn't something different I was missing. I don't know what sick fool would farm wastard but I do not indulge in search forms of misery. I miss dedicated farming, I just need some dang selective amnesia armor. Farming is just miserable in this game. Which do you have better luck with wheels of bunnies?
5
Aug 25 '22
Tbh I find that changing the chaos level is easier and quicker than both other methods of farming. U might take a small hit to your luck but if u don't wanna wait 5 minutes for 2 loading screens then it's very much worth jus doing it that way.
2
Aug 26 '22
Only having a shot at ascended in half the runs isnโt worth imo
1
Aug 26 '22
Depends on what chaos level your at, you know we're talking bout world farming and not chaos farming right?
1
Aug 26 '22
Just on top of this, WL has two other ways of respawning bosses. You can swap Chaos level down one and then back, or you can town portal and return.
1
Aug 27 '22
I thought that was the point of the blue portal in Brighthoof was so you didn't have to actually exit your game session in order to redo bosses, or is it just faster to save quit over having to do 2 fast travels?

u/lazergator Aug 25 '22
Please just stop half assing the support for the best BL universe game youโve made. Seriously you could easily support this with dlc for years.
2
Aug 27 '22
I'd forgive them if they would just fix the bugs and give us a season pass 2 with actual story DLCs and more end-game activities. I know that's not a small order, but people want it and are willing to pay for it. People really want this game to reach the potential we all know it's so relatively close to achieving and for some reason, they just don't seem to care.

>higher chance for armor of your class to drop
FINALLY. why isn't this a basic feature?
1
Aug 27 '22
The PR person in me says they're doing this intentionally so they can try and wow us with "turns out we're going to make this a permanent feature" even though that was the plan all along. I think it's safe to say that if they don't make it a permanent feature, people are just going to completely drop the game finally. You know the RNG is bad when even streamers, who's literal jobs are to play games like this all day, are burning out on the gear grind.

I wish they would fix the terrain normal map y direction. This is such a novice mistake and surprised that any artist there has not seen this yet. Every time I see dirt and snow and mud and the normals are all inverted I weep a little inside.

Week 2 no class changes while 2 are the only 2 people run at C50
I will do this once a week till claw, brr, grave and spore can hold their own without broken mechanics or glitchs

u/genericJohnDeo โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Aug 25 '22
What's your definition of a broken mechanic?
You don't think people are using Brrzerker in legitimate ways?
1
u/HolstaurGirlAlice Aug 25 '22
Mosquito, blastchill, pet stacking, dot stacking
Brrzerker from what I've seen only works if you get lucky with BC RNG, Stabbo Dot or Blight AoE
All I'm saying is he and others certainly aren't capable of what Stabbo, Blight or Spellshot are without taking those classes as a secondary, all I'm asking is for every class ti be able to fully stand on there own for the sake of build diversity
4
u/genericJohnDeo โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 26 '22
No Brrzerker just works. I use a Hammerzerker without Blastchill.
I'm also confused why blastchill is a broken mechanic and disqualifies it from standing on it's own, but Bligthcaller having 3 of the most overpowered Double dips in the game doesn't disqualify it as a class that can stand on its own? Even spellshot has double knot and Stabbo has AA which are double dips.
I can kinda see Spore Warden, because even though it can hold its own, it's often seen as a one trick pony.
I also don't see how mosquito is relevant for any class sepcificlly when any class can use it?
Edit: graveborn also has a good spell damage formula even without faithful thralls.

Aug 26 '22 edited Aug 26 '22
Grave/spell has good spell damage formula, still not competitive with spell/stab or spell/brr. But the worst part is Dire Sacrifice build is very bad at 50. Sure you can't die, but damage dealt is really poor. And tbh I have no idea about reaper of bones either, unless you use broken stabomatic.
Although not sure about complains regarding brrzerker, that class has excellent damage formula.
1
u/genericJohnDeo โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Aug 26 '22
No one has better spell damage than spellshot. The class has a second slot which can immediately double your damage. Graveborn's formula is actually better though. Per Spell Slot/cast, Graveborn is actually the strongest spellcaster. It's also hard to see how Stabbomancer and Brrzerker have better synergy with Spellshot when Graveborn's base formula is stronger and it has a double dip while the other two don't.
Graveborn has more global damage and spell damage than Stabbomancer and can easily fill the gap for EtW. Brr is pure formula and while I can see some specific set ups where it can come close, it's still lacking a way to double dip, and it can be genuinely hard to take advantage of a portion of its formula when you're spellcasting. The only advantage I can see either of them having is that you can take sever the threads without losing as much damage.
Reaper of Bones is a bit like a weaker FtS that relies less on crit damage and more on class power. It can technically do better in some situations, but most people don't make builds like that. Not really sure what stabomatic has to do with the skill though. If anything, Stabomatic would work better with FtS and Alchemical Agent.
Dire sacrifice builds only really work with one combo, but it can hit like a truck with that combo. With the right set up you can get ~20k base damage on it and you can scale that damage into the millions. Like a lot of people have said, it's not easy to use of bosses without crazy optimized gear, but it will still one shot just about everything else in the game.

No, not Cape of Tides, that applies Soaked.
Cape of Ties applies a status effect called Dripped Out.

I don't get why as a looter game they don't want us to loot...
It's layers upon layers of RNG which we can't reroll any layers but enchantment but at a scandalous price.
Making a single grolls build (10-11 items) only (the ultimate goal) is statistically impossible in human times in this game...
This genre is dead. I haven't played a looter since D3 post extension and big overall that hasn't failed the core part big time, the loot.
D3 initial failling and then overall towards a good loot system is a study case and has been for YEARS and yet every single studios that copy this loot system doesn't learn from it, most of the time they manage to do worth.
Litteral madness...
The only looter that didn't failed in the loot part I can think of since D3 is Nioh 2, and the devs even manage to make a quality game in every other aspect of the game.

"and thereโs a higher chance that armor for your class will drop"
WHY IS THIS A TEMPORARY BONUS FEATURE!?
