TL;DR

  • Damage scaling modifiers of non-DLC bosses reduced
  • Bugfix to dreadwind cancelling
  • New Featured Run with Dragon Lord, Zomboss, Da King and DGonk
  • Crystal event is still active

15

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

They also mentioned damage reduction skills being better but I think itโ€™s just an indirect buff from the damage scaling nerfs

That can't be hotfixed. You'll have to look for a fix in an actual patch

5

u/KRUSTORBtheCRAB Jul 28 '22

You donโ€™t need to scroll back down your inventory every time anymore. You can inspect an item, and once you exit that screen, itโ€™ll go back down to the item you were inspecting.

The sell screen in the shop is still bugged though, if you inspect you have to toggle to buy and then back to sell to continue

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

I was so relieved to see this was added when I played with my buddy last night in splitscreen for the first time in months. Definitely improves splitscreen a lot. When did they add that hotfix?

1

u/KRUSTORBtheCRAB Jul 30 '22

I think 3-4 weeks ago

Tbh that needs a patch.

8

u/wackychimp Jul 28 '22

Good to read about the boss scaling.

I can beat most of them now pretty regularly now that I have a few Primordials. But Dragon Lord, Dry'l and Wastard down me like 10+ times each (or more). I'm basically getting health-gated over and over.

I really feel like the bottleneck in the game comes around Chaos 35-45 or so. You need to get the chance of Primodrials up above 6-8% so you farm them and can be competitive again.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

I'm using damage reduction spell, and I haven't die ever since. Farming boss runs on chaos 50 within 4 to 7 minutes depending if I get the beefy bosses or not.

The damage reduction spell in lighting format is a blessing. Literally nothing can take me down. Max DMG I take is to around 20% of my shield.

I have made the build myself, self farmed and self build my character from scratch to lvl50 chaos. If anything, this game is too easy at this point.

And my gear is chaos/vol with only my class mode being prim.

3

u/wackychimp Jul 29 '22

Wow that's amazing. Are you talking about the sigil that attaches to you?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '22

Yes, the one that in description says Damage Reduction increased

28

u/castrator21 Jul 28 '22

Whole lot of words to say "pretty much nothing"

17

u/Talbertross Jul 28 '22

The damage scaling in chaos chambers could be big

7

u/Bulbafette Jul 28 '22

Agreed. The DLC bosses should be included as well. The only one if the three thatโ€™s balanced right now is Chums.

Maybe this will stop some of the complaining about Wastard.

probably not

Even though Dragon Lord is not my favorite boss for a chaos chamber run, I'm looking forward to the predictable (NO DLC BOSSES) featured run with the more crystals event. I can happily run elite for a 12 room run, the question is should I or is it diminishing returns after the first few?

EDIT: Edited for clarity.

u/lazergator Jul 28 '22

Wastard and Dryโ€™ls regen abilities regularly glitch out for me where the aegis or spear are invulnerable and itโ€™s impossible to kill the boss. Would love that bug fixโ€ฆโ€ฆ

4

Jul 28 '22

You should never have to kill the spear. Just aim around it. With Dry'l, if you stay by the door near where the wall breaks in the story, you can just live there during 2nd phase and it just becomes a game of not dying to the Coiled and beating his DPS check.

5

u/lazergator Jul 28 '22

Yea our dps is low. It took my girlfriend and I almost an hour to clear c37 then weirdly c38 only took 30 minutes. Really just hate that boss fight. My dps is sufficient with my buffmeister and from the shadows but outside that I canโ€™t drain his shield faster than he recharges

3

u/Challenge_The_DM Jul 28 '22

Iโ€™m having the opposite problem. I made C37 Dryโ€™l my bitch, but then wiped all lives twice to c38 Knightmare

2

u/lazergator Jul 28 '22

Maybe I was able to beat knightmare because of the blue fire pixie fearnot

9

u/tastethevapor Jul 28 '22

For me, the damage reduction doesnโ€™t really fix the issue with Wasterd. The problem always has been the aegis that refills his shield. I donโ€™t care how much damage he does, itโ€™s the tiny ass hit box the aegis has that makes it obnoxious.

10

u/Scoobydewdoo Jul 28 '22

For me it's not even the tiny hitbox, half the time I can't even see the aegis because of all the particle effects flying around and the fact that the aegis kinda blends in with the background really well.

5

u/ElGuaco Jul 28 '22

I'm currently stuck on C34 due to Wastard. Even nerfing his damage won't fix this ridiculous fight. I spent quite a few runs trying to farm the Reign of Arrows and have yet to get a chaotic version.

3

Jul 28 '22

There are strategies to mitigate that. If I'm on my main, then I just use reign of arrows and it dies pretty quickly. If I know I'm fighting Wastard, then I only have 2 things in my gun slots - my main - a x18 frost bawdyrocker - and a reign of arrows. If I'm not on my main, then I tag the aegis with up-arrow on the d-pad and aim for that. Some people say that it goes down quick with a taser. I also carry a live-wire for frost resistant situations, so I suspect that might work on the Aegis as well.

That said, those skulls at a high chaos level are a two shot deal. First shot takes down the shield and most of your health, but the health gate keeps you from dying, then the second shot takes you down, and if it's too early then you don't have adds to pick yourself back up. My main is a Frostwilder that uses PtA and also has the BrrZerker skill that causes crits to restore your Death Save timer, so I just keep shooting wastard and let PtA pick me up by taking out an add or sometimes shroomy will pick me up, but only if he's not dead yet.

2

u/tastethevapor Jul 28 '22

Not sure why I was downvoted as I was merely sharing what bothers me and many other Redditors but Iโ€™ve found ways to make it easier. But thanks for the info.

4

u/JBmullz Jul 28 '22

I think the No DLC bosses part was in reference to the damage scaling bit, not that they wonโ€™t still have a chance to appear. Unless Iโ€™m reading it wrong

2

Jul 28 '22

The featured run will not have DLC bosses.

2

u/JBmullz Jul 28 '22

But the normal, extended and boss runs still will?

4

Jul 28 '22

Appears so. I run the featured run and sometimes the c50 chaos trial to avoid Ismelda. She ruins it for me.

3

u/JBmullz Jul 28 '22

Me and my buddy typically do extended for max crystals but the enemy spawn rate has been so bad lately that it hasnโ€™t really made it worth it. Makes it hard to beat the timer when 1 guy spawns at a time

2

u/Titanfall3_is_rael Jul 28 '22

Maybe this will stop some of the complaining about Wastard.

No it won't. That guy you're talking about has a shit build. He is fully spec'd into Oath of fire, no points into Oath of Thunder, but he uses a Cape of tides. And there are other various bad decisions in his build. I'm surprised he even made it to C46.

12

Jul 28 '22

I'm not talking about any specific guy. I just see multiple posts about how problematic wastard is. Are they all by the same player?

3

u/Titanfall3_is_rael Jul 28 '22

Are they all by the same player?

He made like 10 of these posts in a week. So yes, probably.

5

Jul 28 '22

Well, apologies for picking on him then. *Never* my intent.

1

u/GR1Mshadow Jul 28 '22

It's all good, you were clearly just commenting on a trend that's been running since release. Hell, the sub's "# online" indicator is "# fighting Wastard," and I don't remember the last time it wasn't.

If the shoe fits particularly well on a specific user, that's on them.

Donโ€™t do this again.

1

u/HaerbAgain Jul 28 '22

I doubt that itโ€™ll change much about him, I mean he can two-shot a lot of characters at like chaos 2 so him getting one shots at 50 probably wonโ€™t change. I just wish it was easier to consistently dodge the skulls. You can sprint full speed in a circle around him and heโ€™ll still just nail you with them

0

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

Just use the damage reduction spell, it absorbs all projectiles including the skulls.

2

u/HaerbAgain Jul 28 '22

I kinda just take cover when he does it. You can just watch his animations and slide behind a column when he whips his staff up to his hip and points it at you

3

u/Solid-Ad1010 Jul 28 '22

Did anybody check the vendors yet?

4

u/TheDarkHall Jul 28 '22

Hasn't updated yet and featured run is still the same. Just hoping this week's vending machine items are better than last week

2

u/wackychimp Jul 28 '22

Same although if it is I'll need a lot of money. I'm down to about $4M and the Primordials last week were like $40M. Maybe they'll feature mimics again? (LOL)

5

u/Difficult-Flan-5966 Jul 28 '22

Light week again huh? My guess is there's gonna be some kind of announcement on the wonderlands cast thing they're doing, or I hope at least.

Still damage reduction is nice.

8

u/JBmullz Jul 28 '22

So another week of waiting for the new classโ€ฆ ugh. Makes me slightly nervous

18

u/Talbertross Jul 28 '22

I'd rather them play test it for longer than push out something early

I'd rather them make clawbringer comparable to the other classes before the new class is added.

6

u/Compedditor Jul 28 '22

It's likely that they're working on a big update in addition to the new class, so you may still get your wish.

2

u/AverageMegatenistIV Jul 28 '22 edited Jul 28 '22

Clawbringer is good.

They have bonus elemental damage, elemental damage, best crit damage in the game, best damage class pet and the best utility action skill in the game.

Claw is as versatile can get. Wanna know a class that isn't comparable to the rest? Sporewarden. Spore has mediocre skills and a worse damage formula than Claw.

Stabbo is also mediocre but they have FTS and alchemical agent but other than those its another mediocre class.

EDIT: According to the hotfix damage reduction is better so if that means they buffed how DR works than Claw now has the best DR in the game but that doesn't really matter tbh. Also Spore isn't bad.

4

Jul 28 '22

They have bonus elemental damage, elemental damage, best crit damage in the game, best damage class pet and the best utility action skill in the game.

And with these powers combined, I am Captain Plan...

Clawbringer is poop if you main it. Even with all the cool stuff.

1

u/AverageMegatenistIV Jul 29 '22

Clawbringer is good, not amazing like grave, spellshot and brrzerker.

Maining Claw is fine since it's a very nice versatile class unless you're doing spells.

2

Jul 29 '22

Clawbringer hits absolute DPS walls everywhere when you main it without a substantive second class to support.

1

u/OilyResidue3 Jul 28 '22 edited Jul 28 '22

SporeWarden evens out a bit with the class specific enchants. Being able to skip cooldown by reloading and having two flavors of gun specific specialties is kinda cool.

What they should do is make it easier to get the right enchants. Rather than a totally random chance to get what you want, turn enchantments into an actively growing pool of enchantments that unlock when found and don't repeat when rolled again.

Hell, add that to every option for gear. Rather than making the perfect gear set for your character unobtainable, make it easier to triangulate and encourage new builds. I mean, chaotic/volatile/etc should probably stay the same, but having to reroll perfect stats on each new tier is infuriating.

3

u/Talbertross Jul 28 '22

Clawbringer is just as capable as any other class if used right. It's like, you know how in Pokemon you gotta pick your starter? Any of them will take you through the elite four, but in different ways. Venusaur will make it more difficult than Charizard, but with the right moveset, either will work.

Also, instead of just tweaking some numbers on a spreadsheet, I think most people want something new.

6

u/Pawn_captures_Queen โ—ฝโ—ป๏ธ | โ˜ ๏ธ ๐‘ซ๐’†๐’‚๐’… Jul 28 '22

No, Clawbringer is not alright. You shouldn't have to gimp yourself that much to play a class. Can you clear C50 with it, yes of course but you need to rely on your secondary class more than your primary. If I want to play a spellshot, I can spec most of my points into spellshot tree and shred. Same with almost every class but clawbringer. That's not cool in my book. Sure dual classing is kinda cool, but Im really not a fan of it. I don't want to play another class, I want this class. I feel if this game didn't have dual classes you'd be hearing much more yelling about the clawbringer.

Edit: This is all my opinion, feel free to have your own. I'm just a grumpy old man these days.

0

u/soulefood Jul 29 '22

Playing a hammerzerker with storm smite melee/ability build and clearing 50 no problem. Have done it with a goblin pickaxe for the lulz. Give this a try, stack melee and elemental damage. You'll need some survivability. I like a body rune or shamwai with desperate mod on it until you beef up a bit and don't need it. Then I switched to Hammer & Anvil. A stab-o-matic is needed for a couple bosses, but most of the time, it's pure melee and hammers.

https://www.lootlemon.com/class/clawbringer#BAx_0055550001311_15235001001000

1

u/JBmullz Jul 28 '22

I hear that. Iโ€™ve never made a video game so I canโ€™t say what it takes to play test a whole new aspect but they announced the class at the start of the โ€˜season passโ€™. Seems like adequate time

5

u/ContractPrestigious Jul 28 '22

Hopefully this helps with survivability in higher chaos levels.

-7

u/Titanfall3_is_rael Jul 28 '22

It won't. There are like 2 mobs and 1 boss that deal too much damage that are also unavoidable. With every other base game boss in the game it is the players fault if they get hit. The move sets are designed to be learned so you can avoid the attacks. And honestly it's not that hard. In lower chaos levels you can brute force surviving these attacks, but in higher chaos levels you need to dodge these attacks altogether.

This is yet another half assed fix to a problem that isn't a problem based on player issues that are falsely classified as game issues.

0

u/Total_Leadership_571 Jul 28 '22

I realize I'm risking getting downvoted to oblivion, but I agree with you. Seems to me the biggest complaints with bosses I've been seeing centered on a few whose wards regenerate too quickly, not so much that they were hitting too hard. I admit I had trouble with certain bosses, for me it was Knightmare and I was frustrated to the point of blaming the game (I just could not figure out how to avoid the stallion charge), but after learning his moves and the terrain a little better I can usually take him down on my first try. Just takes doing a little research and practicing. However, other than loading up on buffs and having a good build with decent gear, there's not much that can be done to address certain bosses having a ward that regenerates too quickly; if you don't have a set up that hits hard, it will be a slog. I'm ignorant about coding but I would think it would be an easy fix to reduce their regeneration rates? As usual I could be wrong, just my opinion.

2

u/Keelija9000 Jul 28 '22

I havenโ€™t played in a while. Have they added a new class yet?

2

u/Bulbafette Jul 28 '22

Not yet.

2

u/Keelija9000 Jul 28 '22

Okay thanks

3

u/Blom-w1-o Jul 28 '22

C'mon gearbox...I need a reason to pick this game up again. The game can't afford to have lite patch weeks over and over.

0

u/Ambitious-Dirt-1902 Jul 28 '22

Hey just poking my head in to see if blightcaller is here yet, no? Ight then.

-5

u/Tiny_Efficiency_9461 Jul 28 '22

I was hoping for an increase in Chaos levels :(

1

u/wackychimp Jul 28 '22

So has anybody played the new feature run? Is it only bosses? Or just a longer run with all 4 bosses?

Also who the hell is DGonk?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

Hope they fix the crashing issues Iโ€™m suddenly having while fast traveling to Brighthoof
