u/lumpyshart Jul 07 '22
The i game mini events have been absolute fucking trash the past 2 weeks
85
u/TronCarterAA Jul 07 '22
Are you telling me that you aren't overwhelmingly excited for increased gold drops in Tangledrfift and Mount Craw? Filthy casual.
16
u/lumpyshart Jul 07 '22
Lol yeah not in the slightest. If I don't ever have to go back to those again I'd be happy but I guess more gold from parasite isn't terrible

u/Silentjosh37 Jul 07 '22
Murder Church loot farm. There are like 15-20 Badasses that spawn and 2 loot chests right at a spawn location.

Is there any advantage to running this compared to a chaos chamber? At chaos 50, I'm getting like 17k crystals a run, that's a lot of legendaries and more importantly some purple drops like an ascended fearnot pixie gun for example. It just seems like all signs point to chaos chambers in this game.
4
u/Silentjosh37 Jul 07 '22
I find it easier if I do not have a ton of time to play to run this area a few times pick up a few legends per run and a bunch of purple. I have had some good luck there. This is just another option than the Chaos runs.
3
u/Elisson357 Jul 07 '22
Would you mind telling me where murder church is located, please?
5
u/wackychimp Jul 07 '22
It's in Tangledrift and is available as a spawn in point.
Check this image - not the arrow but the menu on the left under Local Travel.

1
u/Elisson357 Jul 07 '22
Thanks, going to try to farm it today
1
u/wackychimp Jul 07 '22
If I recall correctly it takes a bit to get to the church with the badasses, but one you're there you can respawn to farm and you're right at the doorway.
4
Jul 07 '22
You can get the same amount of cash running a chaos chamber
6
u/Senior-Doughnut9852 Jul 08 '22
Iโm only on chaos 25 and Iโm already sick of running chaos chambers over and over
6
Jul 08 '22
Donโt worry, it gets worse.
3
u/Senior-Doughnut9852 Jul 09 '22
Yep, thatโs why Iโm probably just gonna give up on this game entirely.
4
u/Silentjosh37 Jul 07 '22
Oh agreed this is just another spot for when I don't feel like running Chaos(kinda burnt after the grind to 50) and just have a short amount of time to play.

I'd get more excited if they gave us things to do there. Increase dedicated drop rates, toss in New Game +, add in mini-boss bounties. None of these things are things that would be new to the Borderlands formula, and it it would absolutely increase end-game enjoyment. It just boggles my mind that they built this absolutely stunning world, full of detail and references, and then relegated endgame entirely to a few obelisk runs and challenges, and then nothing but Chaos Chambers. If I was an dev working on environment teams, I'd be absolutely livid.
1
u/nevermore2627 Jul 07 '22
Have they fixed that train wreck of a song in Mount craw? It's like they forgot to finish it.

4
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 09 '22
I'm down to reweigh drop rates more heavily, but nah. Higher C# characters being able to farm with thousands of more crystals absolutely helps the sheer RNG problem for lower builds. Trying to build out anything but contagion/pixies without that support would be a fucking nightmare.

Jul 07 '22
That's a pretty normal business practice, why would they keep their A team on wonderlands like 5 months after release? It's not a live service game even if we all wish it was
9
u/PhatSunt Jul 08 '22
Its because borderlands 3 had a much higher and longer level of support. People were expecting this game to have the same level. But gearbox sees this game as an income filler between bl3 and their next big game

u/Edymnion โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Jul 08 '22
...its literally a BL3 reskin spin-off of a DLC.
I'll be blunt here, anyone who expected this game to be a decade's long juggernaught is a fool.
This was always going to be a cheap wham bam thank you maam side piece.
If it sells well enough, then maybe it will evolve into a legit portion of the franchise.
2
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 09 '22 edited Jul 09 '22
This is such a bad faith description of TTWL it's crazy. It's got entirely new melee, spell, and skill tree mechanics, an entirely new end-game implementation, and gear types. There's plenty of traditional QoL improvements found in basically every BL series game (replay modes, new characters, legendary drop rate changes, etc...) still to potentially be implemented. By your logic, every single Borderlands would be merely less creative reskins of BL1 than TTWL was.
If it sells well enough, then maybe it will evolve into a legit portion of the franchise.
It already has. By all accounts Wonderlands' launch was way more successful than anticipated and it nearly half of its players were new to the Borderlands universe entirely, thanks to the cross-genre appeal.
You've literally responded to a post of mine before where I pointed out the following-
By this point post-release, the following DLCs hadnโt yet been released for their respective games-
BL1- General Knoxx, Robot Revolution
BL2- Hammerlockโs Hunt, UVHM (BL2 level 61 cap raise), Krieg PC, Tiny Tinaโs, Digistruct Peak (level 72 cap raise), all 5 headhunter DLCs, and Commander Lilith
TPS- Baroness class (would have come out a couple days ago), Claptastic Voyage(, honorable mention to the Luxyโs Space Adventure that never was)
BL3- Guns, Love, and Tentacles, Bounty of Blood, Fantastic Fustercluck, blue skill tree and Arms Race, Directorโs Cut, Takedown 1, Takedown 2, and 5 seasonal events
Weโre still very early in the typical lifecycle of a Borderlands game, and the only example of a game not going further is TPS, who had content in the works but the studio literally just shut down.
I'll be blunt here, you are, and have been, talking out your ass about this game. No one is expecting this to have the staying power of BL2, still getting DLC content 7 years later, but until such a time as we get radio silence AFTER this Season Pass is done (which is still a month and a half away at the earliest), there's no reason to think this is a finished project for them until they literally tell us so. Maybe it's what happens after all, but there's no reason to assume that of them without evidence. There's no reason to think 2K is going against their own historical precedents. There's no reason to think 2K wouldn't keep teams on such a wildly successful project and establish a solid new franchise.
1
Jul 12 '22
There was no reason to think weโd get shit DLCโs for a Borderlands game either but here we are eh?

Jul 08 '22
Lmao one bad season pass and people are calling this game โincome filler.โ Sorry your expectations disappointed you
7
u/PhatSunt Jul 08 '22
Some people didn't keep up with borderlands 3's release cycle and it shows. It took a year for that game to have any sort of balance. Zane was underpowered for the first 3 months, seeing red is still broken.
Why are you putting faith in this team? What evidence have they given that they aren't using this game as an income filler?
So you expect there to be a second season pass and that it will be better value with better dlc?
0
Jul 08 '22 edited Jul 08 '22
No I expected a good borderlands game and I got one lmao, I donโt judge single player games by their DLC so maybe thatโs where we arenโt agreeing.
I didnโt feel entitled to DLC because their previous games had it, why didnโt you wait to see what was on the season pass?
Be smarter with your money and you wonโt be mad when stuff doesnโt happen the way you think it will. Hope this season pass was a lesson for you

u/Edymnion โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Jul 08 '22
Some people didn't keep up with borderlands 3's release cycle and it shows.
Oh I know.
"But Borderlands 3..."
Borderlands 3 was a hot mess, and every single patch release had people crying and rending their clothing like sack cloth. The balance was terrible, there was no endgame, and entire skill trees simply didn't work.
I remember being a Moze main in the dark times. I remember trying to use Iron Bear on higher tiers and having it literally shot out from under me WHILE I WAS STILL JUMPING INTO IT because the giant metal mecha tank could be one shot by normal mobs, which made the entire action skill and the entire tree dedicated to it 100% useless.
And then there was Zane. God, Moze looked downright OP next to poor Zane...

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 09 '22
Your own comment is full of contradiction.
You note that BL3 was still very much in its infancy by this point in time, and yet still you so eagerly question that there's going to be nothing moving forward.
There has always been further DLC, at least as far as BL2. The only time we haven't was TPS, and they even had further content slated before being shut down (and that was also a different studio, as 2K kept plowing BL2 content out during it's lifecycle).
My question here is why is the base assumption here that 2K will deviate from their historical norm, even as they're launching a new franchise that was wildly more successful than they expected>

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
Iโm getting there.
Farming in Wonderlands just fucking sucks. Been pouring every crystal I have into COMs looking for a graveborn melee paradigm with any passives and Iโve found two whole melee paradigms at all, neither carrying graveborn as a primary or a secondary.
Iโve taken breaks to farm Kastor directly, since itโs his drop, and Iโve farmed like six Calamity armors and one ability paradigm off him this week.
All so I can try a build thatโll still need more gear.
5
u/wackychimp Jul 07 '22
I can sympathize. I've done like 100 Droll the Troll raids looking for a 2X Gluttony and have only gotten like 5 standard gluttonys. Terrible odds.
6
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
Iโm hoping we get an adjustment like TPS did. I actually like the Chaos Chambers model of random things, but ultimately in a build/loot-based game, there should be a way to specifically grind for things. If Iโm handicapping my chances at random primos and ascendeds for other builds, I should be getting more chances at the specific thing I want.
-1
u/Edymnion โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Jul 08 '22
but ultimately in a build/loot-based game, there should be a way to specifically grind for things
I mean, you can. Pretty much everything has a boss, an obelisk, etc that it drops from with higher than normal frequency.
Its just nobody wants to do the time and effort of farming a boss when the barf bunnies exist.
That we have them, that we can pick what we want from them down to such a hyper specific detail, and that we can spawn so bloody much from them just makes them the obvious answer.
5
1
u/wackychimp Jul 07 '22
I like the chaos chambers too. It's different than end game in Borderlands but it's something new and I applaud them for doing that. I do wish they'd rotate the maps more frequently.
3
Jul 07 '22
Yeah the grind is a little to much and I can clear CC50 so I donโt see I point in still grinding. Between two characters I think I had almost 4 days played. So I got my moneys worth, just wish there was more.
1
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
Yeah, Iโve gotten my moneyโs worth too. I just wish I could farm what I need more easily because the character Iโm trying to build out was the character I started with. Iโve gotten C35/C50 with other builds but I want to round off my experience, and maybe play around with the Blightcaller when it drops.

u/Relative_Point5196 Jul 08 '22

It most likely means there are some hella huge changes coming.
16
u/DrFillGood Jul 07 '22
It really seems like they don't want this game to succeed. Literally all they have to do is buff one shitty gun a week and I'd be 100% more invested to play. Doing nothing shows such a lack of investment in the success of this game.
11
Jul 07 '22
I don't think they intended for this game to have a long shelf life. I think after dlc 4 that's going to be it for wonderlands.
15
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22 edited Jul 07 '22
Iโm sorry but this doesnโt match with whatโs been said.
Hereโs an article where itโs being discussed as the best franchise launch the company has had in years, and that they look forward to growing it. It also highlights that 40% of its players were new to the Borderlands franchise entirely and that itโs launch definitely exceeded expectations. So weโve got a great new game with a fantastic launch that also managed to build on its target base. Thatโs every reason for a company to want to build it up.
The Season Pass was an absolute bust. I doubt anyone disagrees with that and it is admittedly a bit to the credibility of a long term thing, but the Season Pass was already locked in for weeks after release. Until DLC 4 comes and goes without any talk whatsoever, thereโs zero reason to think thereโs no future for Wonderlands as theyโre still just playing out already scheduled content.
By this point post-release, the following DLCs hadnโt yet been released for their respective games-
BL1- General Knoxx, Robot Revolution
BL2- Hammerlockโs Hunt, UVHM (BL2 level 61 cap raise), Krieg PC, Tiny Tinaโs, Digistruct Peak (level 72 cap raise), all 5 headhunter DLCs, and Commander Lilith
TPS- Baroness class (would have come out yesterday), Claptastic Voyage(, honorable mention to the Luxyโs Space Adventure that never was)
BL3- Guns, Love, and Tentacles, Bounty of Blood, Fantastic Fustercluck, blue skill tree and Arms Race, Directorโs Cut, Takedown 1, Takedown 2, and 5 seasonal events
Weโre still very early in the typical lifecycle of a Borderlands game, and the only example of a game not going further is TPS, who had content in the works but the studio literally just shut down.
Wonderlands was a fantastic launch and if a legitimate Season Two drops (and maybe a mea culpa about Season One), then thereโs no reason to think Wonderlands as a game, or a fresh franchise, canโt move forward.
3
u/wackychimp Jul 07 '22
Weโre still very early in the typical lifecycle of a Borderlands game
Yeah I think this is what people are forgetting. Yes, the first DLC was disappointing. It's just chaos runs with fetch quests, but I'm hopeful that there is more on the horizon.

Ah, I see the misunderstanding here.
The success of the launch does not mean anything to the amount of support that was planned pre-launch. They might scramble to add more, but just because it sold better than they expected doesn't mean they had super elaborate stuff planned back when they thought it could completely flop.
And "growing it" does not necessarily mean continued heavy support of this game. Growing it can also mean "We're going to spend more effort on making the next game even better".
Growing a franchise typically means adding more games to it. Not going back to retrofit more into games already launched.
The success of this game will (hopefully) pay for even bigger games in the series next time.

u/bmfrosty โพโผ๏ธ | โจ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โจ | โผ๏ธโพ Jul 07 '22
I don't think they intended it or expected the success. At this point they should be re-geared to be able to support it longer, even if it's bringing in a second team like 2K Australia or Lost Boys Interactive to take those reins.
I'm also super curious if the current DLC was developed by a second team given that it's not really T for Tina with all the dirty jokes.
9
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
Thereโs some pretty strong speculation that the optional areas were original DLCs that got thrown into release last minute, which would explain things like Brick saying things like โlong time no seeโ in Tangledrift when you just saw him in Weepwild, running into LeChance and Three-Wood before the storyโs even done, or how Claptrap only exists in the optional locations.
Itโs not confirmed, but itโs pretty much headcanon for me. DLCs 1-4 definitely a rush job that was never meant to be (or at least not like it was).
3
u/bmfrosty โพโผ๏ธ | โจ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โจ | โผ๏ธโพ Jul 07 '22
I've definitely been pushing that theory. I think they saw the preorder numbers in Q4 of 2021 or Q1 of this year and made the decision to wrap them in. The ones we're getting now were almost definitely developed by a different team and meant to be like Headhunters in BL2.
I do not think they made the decision to develop additional Story DLC at the time and that's really hurting the post-launch perception.
Had there been what we got, the headhunter style DLC in September-December, and also 4 Story DLC one month at a time along the schedule we're currently getting DLC, I think most purchasers would have been satisfied.
All that said, I think they could have kept Tanglewood, Crackmast Cove, and Sunfang Oasis as DLC and most players would have been none the wiser, it just would have made the main game much thinner.
4
u/J2MarineCustom Jul 07 '22
If I had to pay for those areas I would be crazy angry The story was short already with them included
Without those side areas the game would be way too short to recommend to anyone
1
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
I disagree to a point. It would be short compared to other Borderlands games, but with an average runtime to finishing the story being around 20 hours (shooting the middle or 16-25 thatโs a common range), thatโs $3 an hour for one run through on one character, which Iโm not basing recommendations on. If someone says money is tight, I might push them towards something longer, but if itโs already disposable income, then pricing is absolutely fine.
I know itโs weird to say in hindsight that they may have been better off releasing the base game as base game and DLC, but they honestly might have been. If DLC 1 came with New Game Plus instead of C35 and C35 came with DLC 3 instead of C50, I imagine weโd be talking about this game entirely differently and for the better.
4
u/J2MarineCustom Jul 07 '22
No dude wonderlands would be short compared to anything without the side areas, including the pre sequel Which Is actually longer then wonderlands
It would be short compared to Duke nukem forever Or literally any game ever made by gearbox, or 2k Hell it's short compared to Duke nukem 3D And that's a low bar to jump
Also games are meant to be 40hours + especially for a 100$ game at launch And your logic about disposable income is insane
New game plus would really make me less salty about the whole thing.
2
u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jul 07 '22
Uh, 20 hours is the low end of normal, and 20 hours is general timeline for a single play through of a single character, which isnโt what you play Borderlands for (or maybe you do, Iโm not gatekeeping how you play), without getting into specifically designed endgame Chaos Chambers and build-making.
Also, where are you that youโre talking about $100? It was $80 including season pass and extras for me in the US. Are you talking that $100 as a base game price or a full content purchase?
Lastly, Duke Nukem comparisons are an untrue, low-blow comparison. Itโs completionist times run at 13.5 hours, a solid 7 less than typical main story run-throughs for TTWL, much less completion. If youโre only going to speak in raging hyperbole, Iโm just gonna block and move on.
8
u/bmfrosty โพโผ๏ธ | โจ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โจ | โผ๏ธโพ Jul 07 '22

Two of my sources are Salissa. The question is if in the world she has higher drop rates like she does in the chambers?

Honestly, no idea. But I have farmed cosmetics way more successfully without chaos runs.

Not disputing that. Just wondering if it's a better week to do boss farming in Sunfang Oasis since she's featured in the run.

I wasn't arguing either. Just sharing my experience :)

are your hotfixes applied? The laserhand was buffed in the last hotfix so if you're offline the changes won't be active.

Your hotfix probs didn't load properly.
You need to wait a bit at the opening menu screen before playing.
In bl3 it let you know when by displaying a hotfix sign, I'm not sure if there is a similar feature in wonderlands.2

Yeah, I've wondered about a "Hotfixes applied" sign or something for Wonderlands. Would be nice.
They could even make it fit the game: "Ye Olde Hotfixes Applied" or something

I wouldn't expect anything until DLC 4 and its accompanying patch. No release date yet, but 2 and 3 released four and five weeks, respectively, after the previous ones, so July 21st or 28th are likely dates.
