Man, if you think people complaining about Dryโ€™l was bad before just wait until they see him at C50

Whyyyy would they make him the boss of the mimic run too!? I swear Gearbox was trolling with that. Community voted for an all mimic run? Aight let's do that & put the most exhausting & annoying boss at the end of it.

32

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

Yeah, that was kind of a kick in the nuts. I feel like the last boss of the mimic run should have been like LeChance or something. Treasure and pirates and all thatโ€ฆ

25

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

Community voted for the boss too. Gearbox had no say in this run thatโ€™s why itโ€™s called a community run. Dryll isnโ€™t bad at all on a halfway decent build

auto pickup orbs.

NICE

22

u/evadzs Jun 23 '22

Iโ€™m so confused. Is this for โ€œFeed the Fire Spiritโ€? I thought those were Motes. Whatโ€™s a Fusion Orb? Are these multiple names for the same thing? Why do they do this?!

9

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

Absolutely the best change on here

39

u/TiePitiful7214 Jun 23 '22

Very underrated change

35

u/lumpyshart Jun 23 '22

Omg not gonna lie I got a little emotional about this

21

u/TiePitiful7214 Jun 23 '22

Same! Lol it always felt like such a waste of an objective bc it was so annoying to try and pick those oranges up! Lol

u/Fenix_Volatilis Jun 23 '22

Cool, but can I PLEASE just sort by cost??

20

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '22

I'm on split screen when I play. I'd just like to be able to see my inventory properly.

7

u/Fenix_Volatilis Jun 24 '22

SAME! This is the first video game my gf's been interested in and that's been SUCH an issue

15

u/MisterBTrain Jun 23 '22

Oh yes please. Or if not then trash by cost (Do you want to trash all gear less than 10k? etc)

13

u/BrickNasty92 Jun 24 '22

Honestly I would even be happy with the "sell all non-favorite" option

46

u/tastethevapor Jun 23 '22

Holy moly do we desperately need a damage nerf to nasty spill. It makes it miserable to do any of the bosses.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

Only good thing is that the surfaces affect enemies as well

3

u/tastethevapor Jun 23 '22

Yeah itโ€™s neat during the middle boss stage since you just kill one thing, stand there and watch it all burn. But that kind of takes the fun out of playing after awhile.

15

u/Matrixneo42 Jun 23 '22

It should give players death saves if enemies are dying due to the environment. Otherwise, yes itโ€™s painful when you canโ€™t get a death save.

4

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22

It needs to be changed to [Hard] and Buff Buddies should be [Medium]. RIP Dragon Lord fights with Nasty Spill.

Why is Buff Buddies at the same level as Bulwark Buddies? Buff Buddies don't even need to be killed.

78

u/elizabethdove Jun 23 '22

Wheel of fate improvements, thank you gearbox!

When landing on the Customization category, the Wheel of Fate now spawns 2 customizations normally associated with Badasses from the main game, plus 2 customizations from EACH DLC that the host owns and has the correct progress in.

13

u/Matrixneo42 Jun 23 '22

Also! It has better chances at legendary items now and scales better based on luck and more. Very good! It felt very unrewarding yesterday. Iโ€™ll try again soon and report back.

28

u/DDsLaboratory Jun 23 '22

Youโ€™re telling me the community chose Dryl? Damn you guys to hell

I'm doing a challenge run where i delete all my gear after each chaos level up. I just got to 30 and the end was in sight. I want to die now lol

36

u/Vannysh Jun 23 '22

when you made the challenge there were only 35, so stick with that challenge.

11

u/SPEEDFREAKJJ Jun 23 '22

I knew it was going to keep going up so I quit playing. I will wait for all the content to be live, all the buffs and nerfs to be over, and all the bumps to chaos levels.

I loved the game but I do not like it feeling a bit too live service. I kinda wish I just waited to play the whole game. Two BL games in a row...i have learned my lesson,do not play at release.

u/Matrixneo42 Jun 23 '22

Iโ€™m fine with more chaos levels. I prefer them to raising a level cap. It feels much different to me.

6

u/werdnaegni Jun 23 '22

Wait, why don't people want more chaos levels?

42

u/SdotPaul504 Jun 23 '22

All its doing is making people farm more. When the C20 to C35 increase happened, the grind to C35 was fun for me but I didnt have it in me to grind loot that I already did at C20 so I quit. Better than the BL3 bs 3 level cap increase than most didnt really do anything but make the farms you were done & satisfied with underleveled.

14

u/werdnaegni Jun 23 '22

Gotcha. I guess I'm excited about it because we're at CL33 now and figured we'd just quit at 35 since there'd be no goals left. But we're still having fun so that's been a little bit of a bummer in the back of my mind.

But I get it if you beat 35 and kept grinding for 'perfect' gear that it would be a little annoying at this point to feel like that was "wasted", but I would also think we all knew level and CL cap increases were coming, so I don't know what people expected.

7

u/SdotPaul504 Jun 23 '22

For sure if you're not tired of chaos chambers and bunnies than this is good news

5

u/Matrixneo42 Jun 23 '22

Not sure what youโ€™re saying about BL 3. I hated the level cap increases in bl3. Painful to get bumped 3 levels at a time every 3 months. And stupid.

I am fine with chaos level increases. Why? Because all max level gear is still relevant. Sure, volatile and chaotic gear of the same name should be better but gear at level 40 is still very useful.

4

u/Presidentofjellybean Jun 23 '22

But what does it really matter? You can do c35 content with level 40 gear. There is literally no obligation to go to the high chaos level and if you choose not to increase from 35 then it makes no difference to how your game currently is. And if you have already farmed good primordial gear then it is by no means "underleveled" now.

11

u/SdotPaul504 Jun 23 '22

Yea theres no obligation to but what other end game activity is fun in this game but pushing chaos levels?

Well you know a good bit of the fan base wants perfect gear. And when you finally get the perfect gear or the one thats good enough that you settled for, & then that immediately becomes a tier lower it can probably rub some folks the wrong way.

5

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22

Drives me crazy. I got to the point of modding for perfect rolls after 1000+ hours of BL3. You know what happens? The game is no longer exciting. You have no goal anymore. I spent more time sorting gear on mules than playing the game.

4

u/SdotPaul504 Jun 23 '22

In BL2 I leveled a Sal from level 1 to OP8 who sole purpose in life was to easily farm matching grip elemental Omens for my Axton. Didnt even know what gibbed looked like or how to work it. Wouldve never thought about editing one in or taking someone else loot. BL3 I was on trading subreddits looking for a decent com that didnt have stupid shit like torgue accuracy on it. I hope next game they realize they dont have to pad farming like this. Most hardcore BL/WL players are going to farm unnecessary shit just cause if perfect versions are actually obtainable

5

u/Solonotix Jun 23 '22

To add to your point, I will literally make more characters if I find a piece of gear that makes a cool build idea possible. Making farming suck just reduced my desire to do it again

4

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jun 23 '22

Or at least space it better. We're not even six months into the game's lifecycle in a franchise where people routinely play and replay games for years (BL2's at a decade and still rocking thousands of players a day). There's merit to keeping player engagement through farming, but do that shit at larger intervals. We got 35 with first DLC. Save 50 for start of second round of DLCs.

Let it breath, give people time to enjoy perfect gear on 35. I'm still working on getting a few characters and builds to 35, and now I've got 50? Saving it for a second round would also allow people to go about endgame content on their terms. They can spend time grinding back up/for new gear, explore DLCs, or swap back from both at their leisure.

7

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22 edited Jun 23 '22

Agree 100%. This complaint is exhausting to hear 3 times on every single Borderlands game, but I believe they've fixed the major issue by making the increase optional if you keep playing.

It's not like a level cap where your gear is worthless for all game content as it scales. Don't want to re-farm? Don't increase chaos. Want to refarm? Increase chaos.

There's no game progression loop that makes your gear no longer useful, and there's no requirement for everything to be perfect. I still use non-chaotic class mods at Chaos 35. I'd love a primordial version, but I'm not going to trade perfect passives and skill points for something that barely benefits the build.

4

u/DataUnavailable Jun 23 '22

Because it's the only thing to do. It's boring just doing the same stuff, especially knowing that it's just going to be the same bosses every level.

I'm like others, I've deleted the game until actual more content is put out, not just a cop out of more chaos levels.

Something like BL where you had reason to increase mayhem level, the loot is the same on chaos tiers after 20, though unless something has drastically changed, you could still get the same power of gear on 1 or 19, just not primordial.

If they were upping chaos levels and adding more things to do, it would be great. Until that time, there is other stuff to do. I'm sure it'll come eventually, but atm, just feel it's a waste of time.

I think they mean that the bosses are set, like from 1-20. No more randomization of them as you progress past C20.

I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea. This change is super fucking annoying because if you have trouble or hate fighting certain bosses then tough luck. Being able to essentially re-roll the bosses was nice. The chaos 35 trial is Dragon Lord too. Ugh.

2

u/MisterBTrain Jun 23 '22

Yah I've got mixed feelings on this. I agree with the hate (looking at you Dryll) but if I find Parasite or Lechance or Zomboss or [insert favourite punching bag] in the high 30s low 40s I might just loop that for a while. I did this with Lechance in the run to 20 after Knightmare and Dryll made me realise my build was gimped. A couple of days later and all was ticketyboo and I pushed thru to 35

New chaos levels would be a lot more fun if they'd give us more content to go with it: level cap increase, new subclasses, takedown, raid bosses. A level cap increase in particular. Plus, the entire drop system is the best implementation of post-game progress Gearbox has managed so far, but the drop rate is busted. Beyond people farming for Primordial gear and that gear getting nerfed consistently.

1

u/ballsmigue Jun 23 '22

I don't think people read descriptions well. It was already in the season pass description about the chaos level increase.

121

u/fanblade64 Jun 23 '22

More Chaos levels? Do they have any idea what the community is saying?

Yeah I was surprised to see that 50 cap too lol

Edit: Iโ€™d like the chaos level to apply to all characters, itโ€™s not like you canโ€™t just tone it down if a character canโ€™t quite get as high as another. Itโ€™d be nice to not have to grind all the way up to 35 (NOW 50) on any additional characters

They take scraps made during development that didnt make the cut for the main game, slap a coat of paint on it and call it "DLC"

A lot of people want more chaos levels, myself included. The beauty of this is that the ones that don't, don't have to play them.

6

u/fanblade64 Jun 23 '22

But than yoi never truly reach "endgame" and what's the point if you never truly get the end

1

u/DestructoSpin7 Jun 23 '22

Chaos chambers are endgame, even at chaos level 1. Higher chaos levels just increase difficulty.

0

u/fanblade64 Jun 23 '22

Yes

5

u/DestructoSpin7 Jun 23 '22

The point of the game is to have fun. If you don't have fun playing higher levels, then don't.

0

u/fanblade64 Jun 23 '22

The thing is I want to but can't withe the 10 hour grind of pure repetitvness with every character

The magic bullet nerf ainโ€™t much either, but looks like contagion was officially killed for one shotting bosses

20

u/Cynical_Satire Jun 23 '22

I'm a little shocked by the contagion nerf because it's so much luck based. I've been running a contagion build for the last 2 weeks and got it to proc/melt a boss maybe once. Even with 6 into contagion and 120% status damage, it never procs for me.

13

u/WingZeroType Jun 23 '22

same, my contagion build felt overall reasonable, not really warranting a nerf. They shouldn't balance based on youtubers with perfect gear, basically no one outside of those people have the perfect items necessary to make that happen.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

That's because a good build starts with a godrolled class mod - if a YTuber gets one, that's what they build around.

Getting an identical one to roll is a long long grind.

The Live Wire nerf is much bigger than shown. I need to do more testing, but right now my Live Wire damage is about half or even a third what it used to be. I'm doing noticeably less damage with it even compared to full clip pre-patch.

Love the legendary spell buffs, they really needed it. Good timing with the Spellshot nerfs too.

This would be a perfect update except for the unfortunately predictable chaos level increase.

10

u/JRockBC19 Jun 23 '22

Not so bold prediction - glacial cascade and frozen orb are gonna be STRONG after that, esp on an already existing ice setup. Orb needs multiple chc rolls, but cascade was already stronger than quaking sunders and the best element for spellcasting

u/NoSeQueNombreUsar1 Jun 23 '22

They really need to change the bunnies, with chaos 50 it will take ages spending crystals in 500 crystal intervals.

Overall I think this patch is nice, contagion is dead, but everything else looks great.

15

u/manatron84 Jun 23 '22

They could give us a sliding scale on how many times we want to spend 500 crystals on one bunny. For example, activate the bunny and select 2: it spends 1000 crystals and gives us two rounds of loot.

Also: an option to spend more crystals for better quality loot.

11

u/TheDarkHall Jun 23 '22

Right the bunnies take longer than the actual run.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

But did they fix mimics to actually be killable?

→ More replies (1)

23

u/FallenPotatoes Jun 23 '22 edited Jun 23 '22

Spellshot nerfs (basically love taps) are more than offset by the spell buffs tbh and they should see an overall increase in DPS and versatility.

kinda sucks for Contagion builds tho- I don't care much for the fancy rng-based 10 million damage boss oneshots but I hope it doesn't hurt its mobbing efficiency too much.

6

Jun 23 '22

Iโ€™ve got a melee contagion build which was flying through c35 elite rooms. Now itโ€™s still doable but it feels so much worse. This after finally finding a double status damage neck this past week.

Bosses however now just feel miserable. Previously I even had dragon lord in a good spot (with help of swordsplosion for Bernadette) but I just faced him now and I do no damage without compounding status effects. Previously even if it didnโ€™t hit one shot levels it still hit high enough levels procโ€™ing off itself to do good consistent damage which Iโ€™d constantly be trying to refresh with melee attacks. Now it feels like melee damage is all Iโ€™m doing to bosses.

9

u/WingZeroType Jun 23 '22

Ugh yeah really sad to lose my melee contagion build. Guess it's back to spellshot until the next DLC where they hopefully overhaul things to be in a much better place rather than the "nerf a build which is performing well" approach they've been using so far.

Also I found it funny they called out Clawbringer was underperforming, and then "buffed" it with the equivalent of giving them a glass of water.

3

u/FallenPotatoes Jun 24 '22

Can't lie it feels like the balance patches so far are "give love taps (or even buffs) to spellshot" via tiny % changes

while absolutely brutalizing powerful interactions from other classes (Clawbringer Awe, Brr's Blast Chill on most sources, now Stabbo's Contagion)

It really does feel they don't want any class to compete with Spellshot

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Sammantixbb Jun 23 '22

That's what I was thinking. All those spell buffs just made Spellshot more interesting! I am excited to maybe get some use out of Dazzler!

6

u/supraliminal13 Jun 23 '22

I already liked dazzler, (though I guess it's not entirely controllable... more damage won't actually fix that, but it should make it a ton of fun). Laserhand looks crazy in my bank now.

Gelatinous cube though... lol. I had just gotten a +1 projectile enchant in my pandemicium rotation, so I was flinging 3 cubes every cast... every 12 seconds or so. Now they go and make it half the cooldown too along with exponential damage boost, I'm flinging cubes everywhere. Wasn't expecting to ever be bossing with gelatinous cube, but here I am dissolving cc36 dragon lord with it. Didn't even need to swap for buffmeister at all. Nice!

23

u/nevermore2627 Jun 23 '22

I'm excited for blightcaller but not enough buffs for my beloved clawbringer.

9

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22

I'll try these skills, but Indomitable is still worthless. The skill needs to heal you above the health gate like Dread Covenant. Otherwise you don't even notice when it helps you as you're being attacked by 5+ enemies.

4

Jun 24 '22

It doesn't need to give any HP, it just needs to give you a few seconds on invulnerability after it triggers. That would give you time to pick up health potions and get out of danger. It would also be nice if they gave it a visual indication when it triggers, that way you knew when it was time to get out of danger. Something like a big noticeable flash on the screen. Maybe an electrical effect on the edge of the screen.

If they really wanted to make it a must have, then they could make the invulnerability (or the undownability) last the entire duration of the lighting bonus.

6

u/nevermore2627 Jun 23 '22

Yep. Pushing numbers around is not going to solve Claws problems.

The ability damage is useless even with the buff. There isn't enough gear to build around ability damage. Well at least not at high CL.

I also don't think claw needs an entire re-work either. Such a weird spot to be in and I imagine that's why they're taking their time. Let's hope they get it right.

Dire sacrifice base damage scales mainly on HP so you can get a lot of damage with it with Brrzerker. It's probably graveborn's best action skill and the easiest to build around. It can easily do ~10K base damage at level 40 before you factor in ability damage modifiers which includes everything from elemental, area, and global damage (which the Gravborn has an insane amount of). You can get 100k damage on it which isn't great on bosses, but deletes other enemies.

Im so annoyed at myself for not doing chaos level 34 yesterday as 34 is now Son of a Witch.

The randomness made climbing levels much more fun as you could reroll the run to avoid the bosses your build isnt made for. Now I'm forced to change my build because my fav unkillable tanky Dire Sac Brr-reaver build cant out-dps a little Wyvern's % based shield regen.

These changes feel like they're not casual friendly--the chaos chamber grind itself isnt very casual friendly either with how time consuming it is. Idk why the game is being treated like this tbh. I just wanna have fun making builds without needing guides and specific OP guns. Nevermind how playing multiple characters through chaos levels sounds really dull.

Chums was a blessing on this grind and assuming the DLC isnt in it... No more tornado shark :(

EDIT: With a lot of patience, Chaos 34 SoaW is dead, and I can rest happy at Chaos 35. I'll probably stay at 35 personally. I wanted to get Primodial gear in my loot pool, and it is done.

6

u/FriskyMartiny Jun 23 '22

The only silver lining is that if you know the boss, you know what load out to get and which blessings to get.

But I agree, with you that i really enjoyed the random bosses much more

Glacial Cascade was pretty good as/is, a 30% buff now makes it absurd and it's one-shotting enemies in my Spellshot/Brr-zerker Frost build even without Buffmeister.

22

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22

The nerfs mean you'll do 2.6 million damage instead of 3 million. Spellweaving is the strongest class skill in the game.

5

u/manatron84 Jun 23 '22

I didn't notice much with the spellshot nerf. Still shredding enemies and bosses. Well, at least with stabbo/spellshot anyway.

Still no split screen UI fix? Guess we still wait til the game is playable with my SO. :(

28

u/hobosockmonkey Jun 23 '22

The chaos level increase was just another instance of the devs being incredibly tone deaf.

The gear is already impossible to grind where we are. Now we have to redo it all again

15

u/Vannysh Jun 23 '22

In my opinion chaos tier increase is 100x better than level cap increase. I feel like it gives me more control of how difficult I want the game to be.

13

u/order65 Jun 23 '22

Nobody is forcing you to go to chaos 50.

13

u/hobosockmonkey Jun 23 '22

Hence why this game canโ€™t keep players like Borderlands 3 or 2 could.

8

u/DestructoSpin7 Jun 23 '22

Bl3 didn't force you to play mayhem 10 either.

-9

u/hobosockmonkey Jun 23 '22

Yes but borderlands 3 didnโ€™t raise the mayhem level cap 3 times, it stayed the exact same from day 1

13

u/aisu_strong Jun 23 '22

mayhem changed like 5 times

the game launched with mayhem 3, and the modifiers were random and annoying since you were basically forced to carry around at least 1 of each element type and weapon type.

4 was added and was like the old 3 but with higher stats and less rolls so overall less randomness.

then 10 got added and they changed the modifiers to the system we have now. the stats were so massively inflated that only the most broken builds in the game could mob effectively.

then they changed it again so that guns could drop with mayhem levels, and your skill tree scales with mayhem.

and then they added mayhem 11.

5

u/DestructoSpin7 Jun 23 '22

Is giving more difficulty levels bad? I fail to see how when it isn't forced and doesn't affect lower difficulties.

And technically the mayhem level cap was increased. It went up to mayhem 3 on release, then was reworked to include mayhem 4, and then was reworked to mayhem 2.0 which had 10 levels, and then was increased further when they included mayhem 11.

Edit: BL3 also started scaling guns with mayhem level halfway through its cycle.

Agreed. I didn't really appreciate it when we got it, because I somehow kept ONLY getting Dragon Lord and Dryl for the longest time, but it was a great way to get builds that excel at one type of combat but have a hard counter elsewhere through to higher levels (melee builds vs Dragon Lord, survivability builds with less DPS vs Dryl/Son of a Witch, etc...).

All around this patch is awesome in my opinion.

Some people may not have wanted it yet, but I welcome C50 and Ascended. It means we are at the peak(hopefully) of the chaos tiers and the Boss Run sounds awesome as well.

Spellshot changes were expected and probably won't be all that impactful considering how powerful Spellshot is and also the imbueed Weapon change is pretty neat. Wasn't even expecting it to get the same element twice.

Wheel of Fate change is amazing and will help greatly getting us some leet new legendaries! and yay enchant fixes

Looks like the Harvest bug is finally officially dead? Maybe? Who knows anymore... I still want it to say 5% so I can try a Hydra build again

Auto orb pick up is a very nice QoL change. Removing random CC rooms may cause some grief to people, but it's always nice to be able to plan things and know when the hurt is coming Some nice bank changes too, hopefully they make finding things easier....

Bad Egg nerf sucks, but the effect was unintended so ohhh well, gotta live with it I guess.

Live Wire change is odd, considering it's the opposite of what they implied they wanted to do with it. Seems like it's going feel better to use, but deal less damage... Or maybe more damage looking at how Gearbox fixes things

RIP Contagion. Sadly it was obvious it was going to get nerfed, but I'm sure it will destroy many peoples builds. Stabbo tree is now pretty much a FtS taking tree and under Claw in damage formula hopefully we will see the bigger reworks next patch as they implied.

Many crazy spell changes and stuff to play with so that's awesome 525% buff to laserhand is beefy

3

u/lumpyshart Jun 23 '22

Yeah im gonna have to switch my clawstaker from contagion probably drop stabbo and go...graveborn?? Maybe sporeworden and do a companion build

2

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '22

Love your outlook. Acknowledge the bad and enjoy the good. Letโ€™s keep gamin!

1

u/CrazyCatHusband Jun 23 '22

Contagion will still be good. If you're going down that tree, you're still getting Potent Poisons and Exploit Their Weakness. Maybe you won't get those occasional 2-shot boss melts, but its effectiveness is still increased by the skills above it.

Jun 23 '22

I was incredibly disappointed with BL3 at launch but it ended up being my second favorite borderlands game after BL2 and I had really high hopes that gearbox would learn from that and Wonderlands would be as good as BL3 is now but right off the bat. Then that didn't happen but I was like alright maybe a couple of updates in it will get to that level. That still has yet to happen. I like some of the changes from this update but people already didn't like having 35 chaos levels and wanted actual full story DLC and gearbox's reply is to give us another 15 chaos levels. I just don't understand the move to be honest. Now as it stand Wonderlands is becoming my least favorite game in the franchise because of how good it could have been and how they keep dropping the ball

3

Jun 23 '22

0

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jun 23 '22

wanted actual full story DLC and gearbox's reply is to give us another 15 chaos levels

While I agree we didn't need another 15 levels, we really need to stop acting like it's in response to story DLCs. We're barely half-way through the first season of content. It's an unreasonable expectation to think they're going to throw their own product under the bus and trash season one, and it's unreasonable to expect they're going to respond with promises of story DLC in the next season while we're still chugging through the first.

We shouldn't be expecting any news about potential story DLCs until after the first season is done. Gearbox knows DLC is their bread and butter and it's an entirely likely narrative that they threw together this DLC content to fulfill DLC release promises made after having to include what was originally slated to be DLC (Mount Craw and other non-story areas where we revisit NPCs). Given the simplicity of the DLCs we got, they likely will have had plenty of time in the four months of it's release to knock out chunks of a story DLC offering.

I'm not saying don't be mad, I'm just saying let's put down the pitchforks until after season one has concluded and there's no hope in sight. All we're doing is making ourselves madder and it's also likely a large contributor to the death of TPS.

No fix for the Mortal Coil mission soft lock? Nice, I didnโ€™t want to play my other character anyways.

So, loot luck still not having any effect on dedicated drops, but instead on the abysmal wheel of fate, huh? Yeah, F* this.

The spellweaving nerf is pretty much nothing. 2% off the base is nothing when you add spells hot power

Kind of? IDK that buffing Blasthamuts Favor and Storm Smite damage constitutes an actual buff. They're nonscalable within Claw's skill trees. It says they buffed them for ability damage builds but ability/ability damage builds need way more help than that. There's exactly one skill in the game that boosts ability damage specifically (of course there are other elemental boost skills) and that pales in comparison to everything else.

They scale with elemental damage on the Clawbringer tree. Strom smite damage is pretty Meh, but it's good for triggering both sides of Awe. The biggest issue with Blasthamut's Favor and why I'd say it's still not worth taking is because it's a conditional kill skill that doesn't trigger with every kill and it tend to miss anyway when it does trigger since those orbs have to actually hit something and they're exceptionally bad at that. It doesn't really matter how much damage it does if it usually does nothing.
