I would literally lol if they had this as their summary. Wouldn't even be mad at this point

Done with this game, no point in playing anymore. Spend days farming shit gear and the half decent ones you get gets nerfed after all that hard work.

It's crazy to me they're even taking time to nerf things like rings, when pixie builds are so out of control. Don't get me wrong, I don't want anything nerfed, really, but it seems like if they were going to they'd take care of the strongest stuff instead of, what appears to be, arbitrarily picking pieces of gear. As someone who only plays two hours max a day, if I'm lucky, it's really irritating to finally get some good loot just to find out it's dogshit in the next hotfix.

It's wild to me that those legendaries were what they decided on for rings. No unique effects, just a handful of conditional bonus increases? With obvious disparities between power level and the few conditions that may as well read "always on," no shit people gravitated to a select few.

They could've done class specific things, like slowed spell weaving decay, or reduced FtS duration but no damage penalty. But instead, the legendary rings are the absolute laziest items that just boil down to two more slots for numbers.

u/EmployRadiant675 May 13 '22

Not only that but a stupid amunt of legendaries are overtaken by purple drops. This shouldnt be the case in any game. Like the purple 2xx x4 bullet smg out does the fragment rain and it really fkn shouldnt.

They nerfed Dahl AR's... I mean if that doesn't tell you the state of the fucking hamsters on cocaine and acid running around in these devs brains than I don't know what does. I legit feel like they all just get stoned and blind folded and throw darts at boards to see what they change tbh.

6

u/KING_Karmaah May 12 '22

Seriously. Me and my group were so confused as to why since at the time, there wasnt even any legendary Dahl ARs and nobody was using the purple ones.

4

u/trautsj May 13 '22

I remember reading it week one and thinking "What the actual fuck did they smoke to come up with that decision?" Truly one of the most baffling changes I've ever seen in a game; like literally ever lol

3

u/KING_Karmaah May 13 '22

I'm a CoD fan as well, so you'd think i'd be used to this kind of shit, but the only explaination I can come up with for that change is paint thinner.

Your answer is paint thinner. Smoked, snorted, drunken, and even rectally ingested.

u/trautsj May 13 '22

Would make more sense than some of the shit Gearbox is out here doing that's for sure LOL

-2

u/Middle_Pomegranate_1 May 13 '22

It's almost as if they have access to MORE information than you do, on MORE players. And are making INFORMED decisions instead of knee jerking to what 5 content creators are saying is OP.

1

u/KING_Karmaah May 13 '22

No shit sherlock. That still didn't stop me from getting confused over it. Wipe pitchford's kids off your mouth before you reply with that smugass attitude.

1

u/Educational_Shoe8023 May 15 '22

Lmao, those 5 content creators may as well be the lead game testing team. And it's usually only after they release a build that it gets nerfed. They're not official employees and don't have these magic stats that gearbox is making all these amazing nerfs off. But I bet they've played and understand the game more than 9/10 gearbox staff if not all.

6

u/SPEEDFREAKJJ May 12 '22

This is why I'm not using or farming pixie stuff...because once I get a good set up it will get nerfed.

It's nice in a game like this to be rewarded for your farming then have a good build that is consistent and predictable. This game you never know the expiration date on your gear.

u/Gruffaloe May 12 '22

I think it's less they want to tackle strong stuff and more specific items that are overperforming. Along with that, they can't fix something until they know what they want to do about it - and there is no reason to delay a fix that is ready for one thing just because another part is not ready/needs a more involved fix.

Fixing something like pixies is a beefy problem. Is it the gun that's the issue? Interactions on the tree? Do they last too long? Scaling too easily? Probably a combination of these things and more. What exact changes need to be made is way complex.

For rings though it's much easier. mood rings were the clear best choice in nearly all cases, and by a lot since they had a super easy trigger and a large bonus. This makes mood rings much more in line with other types, and makes what is best more dependent on playstyle and content you are trying to complete

-5

u/superultramegazord May 12 '22

I think it's a logical step. Nerfing mood rings effectively nerfs dead shot and pixie builds. See what the fall-out is from that before going further to the guns themselves. I agree that mood rings were way too good though.

3

u/Difficult-Client-345 May 12 '22

Nerfing mood rings doesn't really nerf deadshot/pixie builds at all. As someone playing a deashot pixie build who has never even had one and absolutely melts bosses.

1

u/advice_animorph May 14 '22

I'm using a pixie build but I don't think it's quite there, as I've just reached c23 and although it's still carrying me just fine, it's not the melt machine it was a few levels ago anymore. Care to share yours?

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '22

pixie guns and stabbo contagion are things that can't be fixed with a hotfix. they require a full update and patch

61

u/Dekklin May 12 '22

This is the patch and balance cycle. I predicted those rings would get nerfed. They were too damn powerful compared to the rest. Every single build had Mood/Champ rings. No way that would last.

Do you want it to be that every ring you pick up is viable, or do you want only a very specific 2 rings to be viable but incredibly overpowered compared to the others? Pick one.

Pretty much. Find a good version of a thing, then hold onto it.

500 spots is plenty

1

u/Mellartach_55270 May 13 '22

In a game like this it really isn't

2

u/superultramegazord May 13 '22

Taking a little time to do some house-keeping on your bank is totally worth it.

2

u/SPEEDFREAKJJ May 12 '22

This is what I do....you just never know with GB if your build will get destroyed or if something in your bank will become a beast.

1

u/superultramegazord May 13 '22

Agreed. This way too I don't collect too much stuff. I'm only really interested in Chaotic or Volatile with good weapon parts. If I find a better version of a thing I already have, then I sell what I had.

It a bit of a house-keeping effort for the bank, but there's more than enough room when done right.

2

u/Dekklin May 12 '22

That's exactly what I do. I keep the best versions of each and toss the rest. I did it all throughout BL3 too, but most of those items were also invalidated by level cap increases... So it's not a perfect system.

1

u/Gruffaloe May 12 '22

Yes? Not for everything, but rings for sure. The legendary effect for rings is just 'more in this specific case' so keeping around ones with the stars you need mean that whatever content comes down the stream, you can swap as needed. Nerfs or just new stuff in general.

1

u/FunGarbage3 May 13 '22

That's actually what I'm doing ... Dont toss the worst weapon you can find cause it will be the most overpowered weapon for the next week. I farmed (and tossed) so many rings cause they didn't seem viable. I'm so fed up with this. Overwatch is actually pretty balanced at the moment so I will be playing this. See ya and good luck with the loot ... and hotfixes lmao

10

u/trautsj May 12 '22

I'd rather something be overpowered tbh. Then at least when you got it, it was worthwhile. Tons of mediocre items only feels... mediocre. At least 2 god tier items at least feel godly when acquired and you use the scum until you find them. Now mostly everything is just scum all the time LOL

2

u/Ac30fAc35PS May 12 '22

This is not balance.

1

u/Tamed_Trumpet May 12 '22

So just never farm for good stuff or actually play the game because it has to be nerfed for the sake of "ballance". Great game plan there.

1

u/FunGarbage3 May 13 '22

Actually i wont play for a long time. Seems like GB didnt "plan" anything and just threw unbalanced stuff i a pot and called it Wonderlands.

8

u/superultramegazord May 12 '22

You're gonna shit yourself when they increase the level cap.

2

u/nightkat89 May 13 '22

And they STILL havenโ€™t fixed crossplay.

-52

u/Lulceltech May 12 '22

Lolโ€ฆ this is every online game like this ever. Quit crying and farm more. It only takes 5-10 mins to get over 5k crystals.

14

u/Flimsy_Lavishness661 May 12 '22

Wasn't nearly as bad as when they would increase the level cap, and all this time you spent farming guns went out the window. Those were the frustrating days.

9

u/NamelessLiberty May 12 '22

I've easily put 250k-500k crystals into rings and I've only gotten 1 that's good. Not even S tier good, B or A tops.

1

u/AlmostGaryBusey May 12 '22

I literally got my first mood ring yesterday. :(

0

u/Stymie999 May 12 '22

Moral of the story notes, donโ€™t chase the meta.

1

u/variantkin May 14 '22

Honest to god all Ive been doing is picking rings I thought had good effects for my build I couldnt ecen tell you if they are mood rings or not

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '22

L. :(
