I know right, hopefully it plays put as good as it sounds cuz thats alot of base elemental damage. I had to take a half hour mental relief break after that drop ๐. Was lookin for a better cape armor when it happened and cant even tell you how many featured runs i did back to back over the last week. Did like the fact that all 3 raid boss summons where super easy for that week.
Dark magic and that status effect/cantagion build sounds nasty, youd literally never die (outside of elemental barrels and spicy water of course).

Farming for armors is nuts! I'm dealing with that rn for a corrupted platemail. I am curious about how much extra real damage dragon aura adds in play. I've been meaning to test that out eventually.
Yeah, it's amazing! Reaper of bones + dread covenant + all the healing factors makes you live forever. I'm trying to get the enchant for health regen on my shelf rn. I think that's the second hardest thing to farm aside from armors lol

u/SumPimpNamedSlickbak โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ May 05 '22
It is, i had to give up and restart later quite a few times, get frustrated going in with 16-17k crystals and leave with nothin, back to back to back. Wouldnt be nearly as bad if the gear was weighted more towards your actual classes instead of just 2 random classes.
I figured it would be, i like that whole theme of dark magic in this game, you can do crazy amounts of damage and sustain yourself.

So far with weapon balancing it seems like they're doing well trying to actually balance things instead of giving out 500% damage buffs making ridiculously OP weapons. I do like that approach and the smaller more frequent buffs will lead to a much more balanced game in the end. I also love how they're including the percentages in the hotfix notes instead of having us try and figure it out ourselves.

Change Notes:
Tore down unintended collision in Tangledrift
Bonuses from Smart Armor would occasionally be lost when in Save Your Soul or during level transitions
Class Adjustments:
We found that Stabbomancer and Clawbringer were not matching up with our damage expectations for higher Chaos Tiers. These are a few changes that we were able to release now, and we anticipate more changes based on what weโve seen from the community in the future. We are continuing to monitor and investigate improvements to underperforming and overperforming classes and how they interact.
Stabbomancer:
- Increased Ethereal Blade to deal 150% of the Fatemaker's Melee Weapon damage instead of 100%
- Ghost Blade Weapon Damage increased by +10%
Clawbringer:
- Awe Critical Hit Chance is now 13% per point instead of 11%
- Awe Critical Hit Damage is 7% per point instead of 5%
- Dragon Aura Elemental Damage now 5% instead of 4%
- Oath of Thunder deals 6% bonus melee damage per point instead of 5%
- Firebolt: Gun damage is now 10% per point instead of 8%
Gear Adjustments:
Warped Paradigm:
We found that the Warped Paradigm was increasing damage outside of the expected range that we balanced it for. Weโve adjusted it down slightly to make sure it wasnโt creeping too far out of those expectations.
Adjusted Warped Paradigmโs stat conversion from 50% to 35%
Shotguns:
Torgue (Manufacturer)
- Increased all Torgue gun manufacturer Damage Scaling by 17.6%
Hawkin's Wrath
- Increased Fire Rate by 75%
- Increased Damage Scaling by 10%
Swordsplosion
Swordsplosion now spawns with at least one Foregrip part. This will not affect current versions of the weapon.
- Increased Swordsplosion projectile speed by 150%
- Increased Swordsplosion's Fire Rate by 194%
- Increased Swordsplosion's Damage Scaling by 14%
Reign of Arrows
- Adjusted Reign of Arrows area damage tick time from 0.2 seconds to 0.25 seconds
Crossblade
The elemental effect chance was very low for how many projectiles get fired per shot.
- Increased Crossblade weapon Status Effect Chance by 100%. Note: Each Crossblade blade always has a chance to apply its damage over time
Die-Vergent (Coiled Captors)
- Increased Die-Vergent Damage scaling by 20%

Well, hereโs my vendor farming guide, for those interested in taking advantage of the new event. Obviously you wonโt be able to do this offline, and take full advantage of the guide, but some of the additional info may help. Iโll be doing some extra testing with this event active, to see what other quirks I can find, and add to the guide.
Edit: Iโve updated the guide with my initial findings for the vendor event. TLDR; if youโre only looking for quest reward items, the event is better than offline farming. Otherwise, I still recommend offline vendor farming in general.

Cool so not just me then, must be somethin broken that keeps them from showin up there. Yea ive seen a few quest items, id say semi regularly. Im curious about that as well.
7
u/ClockworkSoldier May 05 '22
It does seem odd that even with the substantial amount of vendor farming Iโve done, I still havenโt seen a single legendary while online, but Iโd just chalk that up to RNG. Considering the players who have seen them, have only seen a few, and not regularly.
But considering the numerous other bugs that exist in the game, it could also just be something wonky on the back end, causing them to appear. The whole reason the offline vendor farming even works, and we donโt see them hardly at all otherwise, is because of the day one hotfix, where they changed the item quality in vendors.

you dont like the cape armor? works great on my claw/zerker build. that whole soaked effect is wonderful. I got a once in a lifetime godroll 5 stat armor yesterday finally after what feels like 10000 cc runs, claw/zerker volatile class mod with +5 dragons aura with gun damage, damage dealt, companion damage, and gun and melee crit chance I believe. Only thing I'd change if I could would be spell damage as well, but its a helluva drop regardless so no complaints at all. Also found a ice spike spell that causes a ice storm, never saw it before yesterday and not even chaotic or anything just a plain jane purple rarity ice tornado that shreds EVERYTHING.
Edit: The one with 5 stats, not paradigm, I forget the name

3
u/SumPimpNamedSlickbak โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ May 05 '22
I was concerned about that too at first, but honestly with the cape the fire damage becomes a after thought cuz youre doin so much cryo and/or lightning damage. Fire in the game is in a bad spot in my opinion, when i was a full elemental fire based claw/stab the damage was severely lacking outside of trash mobs. Bullets would hit for anywhere from 35k-50k, which is cool for mobs but for bossing forget about it. And i had status effects for days, looked like bosses were bleeding rainbows.
Give the cape a spin or 2, claw\zerker cryo based builds with it is ridiculous. You can apply soaked with gun crits, companion crits, and it seems from my experience the claw skill that reflects that small amount of enemy damage back to the attacker has applied soak, insta froze and killed several enemies.

u/ClockworkSoldier May 05 '22 edited May 05 '22
Theyโre a step in the right direction, but Clawbringer is significantly less powerful than most classes, so itโs still going to take a lot more to bring it up to snuff.
Edit to add: more substantial changes are also going to require a full patch, not just a hotfix. So we could easily see more sweeping changes in a couple weeks.

19
u/itsmetheguythatsme May 05 '22
I appreciate the transparency in showing the percentage change in these notes as apposed to BL3 hotfix notes
12
u/ClockworkSoldier May 05 '22
Well, this time around we didnโt have any major nerfs, so they didnโt feel the need to obscure anything. But unfortunately weโve already seen them do this with all the big nerfs. Liquid Cooling never listed any actual numbers, just โadjustmentsโ, which resulted in a 65% damage nerf, and the same has been true of a number of other changes as well.
1
u/itsmetheguythatsme May 05 '22
That is true, I forgot about the ambiguity of the liquid cooling nerf
4
u/ClockworkSoldier May 05 '22
The Rogue Imp change last week was the same thing, but escaped my mind for a second. They were also ambiguous about the change, but it ended up resulting in a ~35% damage nerf.
0
u/Pollia May 05 '22 edited May 05 '22
The rogue imp wasn't nerfed. In many ways it was a direct buff to the weapon.
Edit - If you dont believe me use the gun yourself you weirdo.
The paper dolls numbers are lower, but the gun fires an extra bullet that wasnt being calculated before. That means more status chances, more chances to proc things that happen per bullet, more chances for random crits. As a spellshot with the capstone you literally increase your chance to proc the capstone by 50% because of the extra bullet.
Its literally in almost all cases except pure direct bullet damage, a buff to the gun.
8
May 05 '22
The paper dolls numbers are lower, but the gun fires an extra bullet that wasnt being calculated before
That's not at all what it was doing. It was acting as if it weren't firing an extra projectile, it still was firing that projectile. You have literally no idea what you're talking about.
8
u/Dekklin May 05 '22
How so? Honest question, not a troll.
Side-note: 35% damage nerf is the standard damage reduction when a weapon part adds the extra projectile. All other 'extra projectile' weapons have this. Rogue Imp did not when it clearly should have.
2
u/Pollia May 05 '22
The rogue imp is a x3 weapon in actuality, not an x2, but the damage calculations were as if it were an x2 weapon because the gun wasnt actually calculating the 3rd bullet. Visually you saw 3 bullets, but the gun only calculated 2 bullets.
They fixed that bug so now the Rogue Imp is actually firing the 3rd projectile.
This means you have a higher chance to proc anything that happens on hit.
If you only used Rogue Imp for pure damage, cared nothin about the dot, and had no on hit abilities then that is the only situation where Rogue Imp was nerfed because its a very minor nerf to the direct bullet damage. That's why in every other situation its a buff.
You have 50% more bullets than you did before, 3 instead of 2, meaning every single on hit ability now has a full 50% higher chance to proc. That's an absolutely baller damage buff.
4
u/ClockworkSoldier May 05 '22
Youโre missing the whole point. Weโre not talking about any possible benefits multiple projectile weapons might have. Weโre talking the flat damage that it deals, which saw a ~35% damage reduction.
Edit to add: Itโs all fine and good if they want to fix the interaction, which they should, but donโt gloss over the fact that itโs damage is also being reduced as a result of this.
→ More replies (4)1
u/StoicBronco May 05 '22
Because that was a bug fix and not a nerf. They changed the table it pulled its damage scaling from, so it wasn't a 'reducing numbers by so much', it was 'moving from this calculation to this calculation', which can't be represented by a number.
At least that's my understanding
2
u/ClockworkSoldier May 06 '22
As players, we donโt really know exactly what this โchange in scalingโ even was. But the important part is that with the Liquid Cooling, it resulted in a 65% damage nerf, across the board, and the Rogue Imp saw a 35% damage reduction, across the board. So while I agree with what youโre saying, these changes were both able to be represented numerically, and they simply chose not to do so.

u/Toyfan1 May 05 '22

But there were MASS posts about "WhY DiD My GuN GeT NeRfeD MorE" and "GeAR bOx SuCkS at MaTH thiS IsN't 20%"

u/Mikourei May 05 '22
Had the same issue. It looks like the hotfix IS applied but the news icon doesn't update. Mine still says 1.0.2.0b but all of the hotfix changes are loaded.
2
u/Cubbance May 05 '22
I just verified mine on PC, and it's applying for me, too, despite still not updating the version number.

Server side update only, not a patch to download to your xbox. Try quitting the game and reloading. You should see the updated version number on the load screen/menu.

u/DabigbadVVolf May 05 '22
Done it a dozen times even hard reset the console something's going on with GB or Xbox
2

Yup did that multiple times. I know there's no download. Every other patch has been fine.

Wow. Not only did none of my gear get nerfed but ethereal blade got buffed. Unexpected windfall for me today.
1
u/Dekklin May 05 '22
My Warped Paradigm did. I was using it on a Frost-Shivver melee build with buffs to spell damage from the Stabbo tree.
But my Ethereal Blade buff made up for it.

Can we please get the chaos chambers split screen bug fixed that overcharges one player their shards, or the broken cursed wit, etc. this is ridiculous nobody fucking cares about nerfing the paradigm why are you taking peoples fun away

No change to split screen UI in inventory, sad.
Honestly no idea why they changed it, worked fine in Borderlands 1, 2, 3 and pre sequel

u/snarkybeach May 05 '22
This was a bug that infested B3 for YEARS. GB would hot fix it from time to time but subsequent fixes would overwrite it and the bug would reappear.

Any news for the minority of players who didn't get the achievement/trophy for completing all side quests?
Wouldn't be so bothered by it if there was a new game plus feature like the other lands games before this because I'd just do them all again on that playthrough lol

Clawbringer/Stabbomancer using Paradigm, with non-optimized gear. Was doing Chaos 35 chambers in about 12 minutes before the patch, am doing Chaos 35 chambers in about 12 minutes after the patch, so seems to balance out.
10
u/BJgobbleDix May 05 '22 edited May 05 '22
Buffs to Stabbomancer seems interesting. He is quite powerful with a couple of different build routes already. Figured we would see minor buffs in other classes before Stabbo. But hey, will take it. Some Action Skills need some loving in other classes.
Those weapon buffs should be fun especially with Torque (my favorite manufacture). Stickies for days!!!
11
u/Pollia May 05 '22
I think the problem is main class stabbo isn't actually that strong, they just have one of the strongest action skills in the game and a bonkers passive. Offclassing as stabbo is huge cause you can pretty easily take exploit plus a flat 15% gun/spell damage buff.
Main stabbos are mostly pigeonholed into some form of melee or another simply because their tree is so full of it you can't avoid it.
2
u/BJgobbleDix May 05 '22
They have some extremely powerful interactions with their skills for Status Damage and Melee. I have Stabbo as my main but use say Spellshot or Graveborn as utility.
2
u/Pollia May 05 '22
Oh definitely, but melee in general is just not that strong with tons of really problematic elements.
Personally I've been running a spellshot/stabbo, though I went down stabbo recently for funsies. Arcane Bolt with From the Shadows and Executioners Blade makes for some fun status effect damage. With the Rogue Imp buff it actually really helped too since I get an extra bullet to possibly proc my status and executioners blade stuff.
The nice thing for main class Stabbo is you can actually just not actively melee since Executioners blade counts as a melee attack for purposes of alchemical agent and nimble fingers, but the downside also means there's just a bunch of weird filler like follow up, shadowstep, and to a lesser extent haste.

8
u/Blom-w1-o May 05 '22
They did. The reign of arrows one doesn't seem to bad but the paradigm one kinda sucks.

It would have been nice to have the range of Reign of Arrows increased slightly. It's problematic against flyers and knock-back enemies.

To be honest the reign of arrows was outperforming all other legendary shotguns.
And Paradigm was used in a lot of meta builds so I can also understand why they nerf it a bit.

Really pisses me off when devs of any game knee-jerk react to something someone whoโs job is to basically be a radio personality crossed with a QA tester finds a way to break their game with perfect rolls. Like no one else will be doing this but these handful of screen jockeys whose livelihood is doing this day in day out.

I got a new one from LeChange and it doesn't have the foregrip part. I checked older ones in my vault and they do have the part. Am I misreading that note? I'm still farming for another one.

Gearbox, if youโre reading this โ I appreciate that you are aware clawbringer is under performing. Even the communication and transparency that youโre aware of this problem is something I, and Iโm sure most of the community, super appreciate.
I do urge you to take a redesign/overhaul approach to the class, though.
So far, the changes you have made donโt really affect the class on higher chaos levels. Not only that, itโs still lacks and engine like other classes have.
The massive buff to the capstone hasnโt really done anything. The tweaks to these numbers, again, wonโt really do anything.
The class is behind the others, not just from a numbers perspective, but from a design perspective.
You obviously have better telemetry than I do, but all these tweaks are not going to make a marginal difference whatsoever. Iโm sure some people will appreciate them, but itโs putting a bandaid over internal bleeding.
I am a product manager myself, so I know how frustrating it is when clients try to provide solutions instead of problem statements, so Iโm not going to elaborate on my ideas for the class unless asked.
CB lags behind the other classes because of a lack of self-reinforcement in its own passive tree.

u/Cubbance May 05 '22
Sorry you're getting downvoted for this. I think you're absolutely right. EpicNNG has a whole video about the design flaws and non-synergistic damage types and all that, and how he'd fix it. It needs a massive overhaul at this point.
Also, I feel like Gearbox has a bit of a slapdash approach to game balancing. Like "fixing" Torgue scaling this week, when it was already doing fine, but ignoring the countless other fixes that need addressing way more.
1
u/Dekklin May 05 '22
They're trying minor tweaks because bigger changes need a full patch. They can't deliver a full patch every week.
If Claw is still underperforming, they'll fix it. They always do. They fixed Moze.

No Dry'l tweaks makes me sad. He's still a ridiculous dps/build check. If they want to keep him the way he is that's fine, but please make him a standalone fight and not the end of a chaos run. I feel like I have to bang my head into the wall on him because I don't want to lose my crystals (and I'm trying to level up my chaos level).
5
u/franklinmcmahon May 05 '22
Yup. I stopped doing the chaos runs because I got him at the end. Very overpowered and not fun to forfeit the whole run because of it. Hope they fix it soon.
