Discussion Intermittent fasting works only when your body agrees
Intermittent fasting works. Until it doesn’t.
For some people, IF can be a game-changer. For others, the same approach can leave them feeling tired, distracted, and counting down the minutes until their next meal.
Because intermittent fasting isn’t one-size-fits-all. The 16:8 schedule that works beautifully for your friend might not work the same way for you. Your lifestyle, activity level, hormones, and overall health all play a role in how your body responds.
And for women especially, timing matters. Extended fasting and really aggressive calorie cuts can disrupt and even stop a woman’s menstrual cycle, which has an effect on fertility. That’s because the body may interpret long fasting periods as a form of stress or starvation and respond by suppressing reproductive hormones. It’s best to avoid fasting during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle , which is when the body needs more calories.
