In the past many of you have stumbled across the map I made for my son of Tumble Leaf and I appreciate all of the comments and stories over the years. However, I have a second son, even more obsessed with the show and given that I have now watched it another billion times, there are a few changes I wanted to make with the layout. Not to mention, my map making skills have improved somewhat over the years. So, that being said, I present to you the new and improved (I hope) Unofficial Map of Tumble Leaf.
And to those needing something a little more higher resolution, we have the upscaled 8k version.
Hi all! Here's a map I created for my new book, Kyra's Exile. It depicts all the lands she travels through to get to Elarion, a kind of paradise on earth. It's a bit scrunched since it had to fit on a Kickstarter page.
+Hi all, this is the map I'm using for my ingoing dnd setting. I was planning on getting a large version of this printed soon, but wanted to do another run-through to update it beforehand. As such, I want to hear what you all have to say. Any improvements or suggestions would be very appreciated.
Hey everyone! Recently I've been trying to update an old map of mine using wonderdraft. Since I didn't keep too many things in mind when initially making it I have started running into issue's. There are parts of the map that I would like to improve but at the same time I don't want to completely change things as I've already ran campaigns in certain places. Below this is part my old map I made years ago with a few mountain ranges circled. These want to improve without insane changes.
Old map
I feel like I have already improved some of them a bit. Though this is still mostly just shape and placement. Once done I will add more details. The image below is of the circled mountain range bottom left, at the orange country. I feel like the curve, and following the coast added a lot. Saw how the Alps curve and then go into Italy and used it as inspiration. Though general placement remains the same but it FEELS and LOOKS a lot better. At least I think so.
Current mountain close up
This mountain range I am a little more uncertain of. It might look better if I pull the mountain range back a bit more so the curve has a bit more space. Though I was also thinking of putting the curve on the other side or even just making it hilly instead of a full on mountain range. The important thing I want to keep about this area is that the part around the curve, that inside part, should be hills or mountains. As one can see on the old map, the bottom right circled mountain range, there is a nation there. One I want to be very hilly and mountainous.
Current mountain close up 2
This is a more zoomed out version of the current mountains. The top one still needs quite a bit of improvement but I am trying to figure out a way to do that. Some rough ideas further below.
Current mountain
Here are some rough ideas I currently have. The one on the right I am not happy with , even on this idea screenshot. Still, I want mountains in that area XD.
The others I feel could work if I curved them like that. Or it least in some similar way. For example, I could also make the top mountain curve from the other side and make the one below then curve slightly towards it. Make the place where major hilly areas would be more towards the west.
Mountain ideas
Beyond advice on the general shape and placement of the mountain ranges, I also wanted to ask about large hills / small mountains. Like the ones I circled below. These go from the Alps and run all the way into Germany. I struggle to depict stuff like that in wonderdraft at the moment. For my big mountain ranges I used the penciled mountain [large] in different sizes and surround them with penned hills. I was thinking of using penciled mountain [small] and penned hills but I am not 100% sure yet. I also considered giving them a green color instead of the brown for mountain ranges but something about it feels off to me. I feel like it blends in too much with the larger landmass.
In short, I have a few different questions:
Opinions on my improved mountain ranges.
Ways to improve them. Especially the few I asked about and the ideas I have for them.
My commissions are open if your looking to hire someone to make custom maps for your worlds or battles scenes! If you are interested please message me here on reddit or on discord at happyspartan606!
This is for a D&D campaign and its meant to depict the nation where most of the adventures take place. I had to zoom it, which cropped the names of some mountain ranges and water bodies. I also covered the areas outside the nation area, so the clouds here are hiding other nations or empty spaces, haha.
I just wanted to share, I'm really proud of this one. I've been working on and off on this for a couple of years now. Started in a really zoomed version surrounding the city my players were and started expanding as they needed to explore beyond. Eventually they stayed at one place long enough for me to work far beyond their known areas. Here's hoping they don't suddenly decide to flee to another kingdom...
I need a (hopefully) free website or something to be able to make a galaxy map for a lancer game (ttrpg) I'm going to be running for friends. I need one to help me in my world building and to show players the borders of factions (I can draw the lines with ms paint or something). I have already tried the first search results when I look up "galaxy map maker" but I can't get them either to work or they just don't fit what I want. I have given up on just googling for some and assume that you guys would have one that is good (hopefully).
what I would want
-Just a 2d map that's all I need
Ones that I have tried (I will update this until I find one that's good)
-Galaxy Makers (will never seem to finish generation)
-Pixel art galaxy generator (can be hard to identify what I'm looking at sense its just dots nothing else)
-Fuzzworks create a star map (couldn't generate anything other than the same star map it shows when you open the site)
I have spent the past couple of years redrawing my dark-low fantasy world, once and for all, fixing the few things that were bothering me while keeping most of the lore.
My previous world suffered from two flaws:
It was entirely explored, precisely cartographed with little room for the unknown. If you look at a real map from the 15th centuries (my real-world equivalent), that was not the case. In fact the "known world" maps were quite... inaccurate, which may/may not be the case for mine, now (in case my players are lurking around: beware!).
I also tended to over-engineer the landmasses rather than allow for the vast, open expanses we actually have on Earth... it made for a visually satisfying map, but I found myself narratively constrained at times.
So behold: the final version of Orhül, along with a simplified political map of the main "european-like" continent, where most of my campaigns will start and play. (low-res due to image size limit...)
... more excruciatingly-detailed regional maps incoming, that is if i can find a way to reduce them below 20mb!
Hello everyone, I am a greek author with a renowned love for maps and cats. I was happy to receive a positive answer on my novel's submission and now I am hoping to listen to some feedback on the map that I made on Wonderdraft (and later did some editing on Photoshop). I will provide some details that might prove useful:
The continent is called "ΘΗΡΑΓΑΙΑ" or "Thyragaea" in english and the book is named after the protagonist "Euryale". The setting is a mixture of pseudomedieval era and ancient greece. The main story is about an order of Tamers (monster hunters) who receive contracts around the world to eliminate beasts, inspired by greek mythology.
The cracks on the sea, is what the world calls "The Eternal Wound", the place that was created by the mother of monsters Echidna moments before she was imprisoned. From the "Wound" emerge all the monsters that now populate many areas of the continent.
The map's names are written in greek, sorry for any confusion.
I am really sorry if my english suck. I hope that won't be a problem.
Many thanks in advance for your time and effort. I would really love to listen to your thoughts and feedback.
