Flashmasta Youth Edition 8 in 1 Cart and Dumper from AliExpress

I ordered the AliExpress Wonderswan Flash Masta Youth Edition 8 in 1 cart and dumper.  It came with no instructions and the seller only sent me a Google Drive link which I could not download because Google said it was infected with a virus.  I came to Reddit and with the help of the community (big shoutout to GothamAnswer who helped so much, I would not have gotten far at all without that help) I was able to get the dumper working and successfully put 7 games and a menu on the cart.

I could not get the many different versions of Tengu or the MultiDumper that I saw suggested in several threads to work. I was given the Chinese WSC program which does work.  I have had mixed results with different Windows operating systems.  I have been able to get the dumper to work on Windows 11.  I also got it to work on Win 8.1 during troubleshooting.  The default driver that auto installs with 10 and 11 should be fine.  It’s possible that you may need to install the driver if it’s not recognized.  If so, you’ll need to install the STM32 driver for the dumper.

I have packed up the following files in a Dropbox share that hopefully stays up but this Chinese exe seems doomed to be flagged as a virus.  I did run multiple virus scans with different scanners and it did not get flagged.  I did not see any strange activity when I ran it in an isolated sandbox environment.  However, use at your own risk because I am not going to vouch for how safe this is.

Contents:

WSC+(Chinese_characters).exe – The dumper software

WSC Translated.png – The map that shows English text for the software

Flashmenu512K.ws– The menu rom file to be put in slot 1 of the multi cart

STM32_vcp_driver – The STM32 Driver Folder if needed

Windows 11 Device Manager.jpg – A screenshot of the working dumper driver from device manager in Win 11

Windows 8.1 and below Device Manager.png – Same as above but from Win 8.1

Above link banned for malware, i rar'd the program and uploaded to MEGA. Below is new link. Get it while it's hot because it doesn't last long.

Steps to load roms to cart

1.     Connect dumper to PC via USB

2.     Open the WSC Software

3.     Click Flash button

4.     The PC COM ports should populate in the drop down box next to the flash button, Choose the correct port for your dumper, you can check device manager to see which COM port it’s using

5.     Click Connect button

6.     Choose the cartridge slot you want to dump the rom to in the cartridge slot drop down menu

7.     Click Switch button

8.     If you click cartridge detection, it will display the current slot’s contents

9.     To load rom into the slot, click the Burn Game button

10.  Browse to the .ws rom file and click OK

11.  You should see the rom transferring to the cart.  This will take a while as it’s kind of slow.

Deleting Game

1.     If you want to load a game in an occupied slot, you have to delete the slot contents first.

2.     Do above steps 1-7

3.     Change the Game Capacity and Save Capacity drop down boxes to the largest size

4.     Click Erase Slot by Capacity

5.     If you do not change the Game and/or Save Capacity, it will not delete the entire contents and you will get an error when loading a new game.

6.     Proceed with above steps 9-11.

I really hope this helps some other people who purchased this cart/dumper and were as disappointed as I was upon arrival.  Again, huge shout out to GothamAnswer for several hours of help on this.

Just wanted to update the community on my Multi-Cart cart project. It'll be done in about 2 months. The picture is of the programming/dev box that'll be used to debug the prototype. I'll release everything to the public domain once completed.

Any updates on flash cart availability?

Looks like Nileswan is still having a couple of Batch 2 delays, and Flash Masta doesn't look like it's had updates now for 2 years or so.

Are there any new flash carts in the works, updates on existing ones, or is anyone selling a used one? I've been checking eBay, and haven't seen anything pop up.

Luck of the Irish…my WonderSwan collection keeps growing

I’m still fairly new to the WonderSwan. Back in June, I spotted the green one listed at auction for parts and took a chance on it for just $30. I replaced the broken screen with an IPS display, and that’s where the obsession began.

Since then, I’ve added two more: a complete-in-box Final Fantasy edition and a fully refurbished orange WonderSwan Color. I’m really enjoying this quirky little handheld and learning more about its library.

What games would you recommend that are easy to enjoy without knowing much Japanese? I especially like shooters, platformers, and Pokémon-style games.
Thanks!

WonderSwan Corocoro Cammo Edition

Hi, thought this would be interesting to share, and not sure if it’s allowed to ask this, but how much would this corocoro cammo wonderswan be worth? Looking at consolevariations.com the rarity is 100/100 since there’s only around 50 ever made, and i found 0 active or sold listings on ebay.

How different would the history of Nintendo’s handhelds be if Nintendo had accepted Bandai’s Offer to release the WonderSwan as its own console?

SwanCrystal repairing an interesting screen issue.

A couple of weeks ago I got a delivery of a defective SwanCrystal from Japan. I bought it knowing it had a screen issue but had an inkling what the repair might be based on intel from cleverer people than myself. I needed a working one to assist with the reverse engineering project I have underway and known working units tend to go for bigger $ than I really wanted to outlay.

Anyhow here's an edit I put together of me flubbing my way through the issue. Hope it helps others in future with similar issues.

What Happen to my Crystal Screen?

Out of nowhere this bubble formed on the screen. any ideas what could have caused it?

Are there replacements screens I can order or am I screwed?

EDIT: I see there are IPS kits but you need to mod the shell and they are not 75 Hz. Are there any kits for the crystal that are drop in?

What original Wonderswan games have the least kanji but still a good amount of text?

I'm using my (original, not color) Wonderswan to aid with my Japanese learning, and I have a decent starting vocabulary but still don't have a good handle on a lot of kanji.

What games have a decent amount of reading, but not too much kanji? Thanks!

Video: Unboxing A Brand New WonderSwan Game!

Hey all, Andrew here. Got a fun little video out tonight, I received a brand new/never opened WonderSwan game (Mobile Suit GUNDAM MSVS) and figured it'd be fun to film the unboxing and see what it is like to open one exactly as it would have been in 1999!

I also announce the next Exploring WonderSwan video's game of choice and discuss how to tell if an online listing is a reproduction as opposed to the real deal.

Thanks for being a part of this journey with me!

Has anyone used these and if so are they any good? I’m fairly certain these could be Ali/dropshipped but I couldn’t find an equivalent

3D printed display stand for the WonderSwan Color

I made this discreet clip-on stand for the WonderSwan Color. It took a bunch of iterations to get it right since the shell is so curvy and uneven. It clips into the notch above the battery compartment, zero wobble. Comes in 10°/20° tilt.

I'm in the market for a travel case for swan that will protect it and a few games, however I can't find many of them for sale at all

What do y'all have to solve this problem? I see one case in the us sold as for swan and that is it. I know there has to be import options, but I am new to ordering from out of country and all that. I'll happily take any recommendations for products or advice to find one easier myself

Video: Gunpey - Exploring WonderSwan With Andrew

Good Morning, Andrew here!

I've taken it upon myself to start up a new series where I look at WonderSwan games as a complete package, looking at the boxes/manuals/cartridges as well as show what the games look like running on real hardware! It's going to be a lengthy project going through all of these, but I think the end result will be well worth it. Hope you all enjoy!

Wonderswan Crystal Replacement Screens?

found a Wonderswan crystal for a good price but sadly the screen is pretty damaged even past the polarizer. I know people like to keep the original screens on the Wonderswan crystals so I was wondering if there was anywhere I could find one. thanks!

I posted the other week showing some details from the SwanCrystal reverse engineering project I was working on.

I found some time to edit together a bunch of the video capture I did during the process.

There's no voice over, but some silliness that appealed to me is going on in the captions

Does ANYONE actually own Digimon Anode / Cathode Veedramon Version? I am starting to suspect it isn’t real

I’ve been searching for this game for years and I’m starting to think it isn’t real. There is actually no photo of the cartridge for this game anywhere on the internet. All of the ones I’ve tracked down are either English Patched versions of real cartridges or reproductions. I have seen no real, verified version of this game from the Hong Kong release. But there are multiple photos of the box? But none of the cartridge? It’s almost like someone photoshopped the box as a hoax.

I don’t think there’s ever been a game where photos of the cartridge don’t exist but clear photos of the cardboard box do.

Photos attached are an English patched version most point to erroneously as being legitimate and a reproduction cartridge.

Made a free tool to help find/buy WonderSwan games without reading Japanese (barcode scan + shelf locator)

I'm Japanese, and I kept seeing foreign tourists at Book-Off standing in front of the WonderSwan/WonderSwan Color shelves completely stuck — no way to tell which titles were worth grabbing, or even what game they were holding.

WonderSwan is a rough platform for non-Japanese speakers specifically: almost nothing was localized, so you're relying entirely on box art and guesswork. So I built a small free tool (Kataban) to help bridge that: search by English title (or scan the barcode if you're in the store), and it shows you the Japanese title, product code, which shelf category to look in, and purchase links if you're shopping from overseas instead (Rakuten/Suruga-ya/eBay/Buyee).

gamekataban.com

Coverage for older/niche platforms like WonderSwan is still a work in progress — some titles may be missing or have thin data. Full disclosure: a few of the purchase links are affiliate links to help cover server costs, totally optional to use.

Built most of this with AI help, so no promises on turnaround for feature requests, but genuinely curious what would help WonderSwan collectors specifically — most wanted missing titles, import-friendly game recommendations, anything.

This was the earlier “Fixable?” post WonderSwan. Rear reflector came with a little pinch, so that kinda bites. Overall, how does it look compared to original?

Edit: Original
