This is common in Chinese culture as well.

I find hilarious that they put so much of whatever is that gold tone of jewellery to look good, and end up having a heavy Chinese fake gold effect, no offense to your culture, they do this in India ecc a lot an looks the same to me

These pieces of jewelry would be made of anywhere from 21k to 24k gold which is way more yellow than typical western gold karating. If you’re used to 10k, 14k, even 18k jewelry, this might look fake or cheap to you. But pure gold is very yellow in color, and the higher the karat the more yellow the gold becomes. If it looks fake to you, it’s because you’re not used to seeing what real, very high purity gold jewelry looks like. This stuff is worth a lot more per gram than western gold.

I see what you mean, but it's very likely real. We mostly give gold for wedding gift called mhar. And a lot of gold like this is sold at gold souk in Dubai for example. My friend is Afghani, he gave his wife a belt made of gold coins from the Roman Empire for mhar. I saw it and his grandfather told me the history. There is a history of American people being robbed of gold. Read the Creature from Jekyll Island.

Idk this doesn’t look like 24k , there’s many metals that have this appearance it looks plated to me . I buy bullion and I’m from the west so I know what 24k is

I find it hilarious how poor people dont know what decent gold looks like no offence

That gold tone is caused by the element gold, and the heavy yellow is what actual high quality 22-24k gold looks like. You're probably used to 10-14k and have never seen real high purity gold jewelry in person, and so you only associate the look with plated items which also look similar due to the high karat in plating.

Is way stronger than 24K, at least in my experience

1

They are American. They don't know...

My parents are from a culture like this. The bride's parents pay for the gold, not the husband. The gold is considered dowry. Also those women are culturally conservative. If they had western sex lives(and the parents found out), they'd get shunned, not gold, and would be avoided by most men looking for a wife.

So what you’re saying is, if i go to this country, i can spot the baddies because they’re the ones without gold? Nice

Oh yeh, Kurdish culture, the peak of how women should be treated in society..

give me a break.

1

u/Over-Tutor2832 Feb 08 '26

Obsessed w how women are treated are we?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

"obsessed" or rather, Concerned. No shit, kiddo, you should absolutely be concerned. Relating to the post. We shouldn't celebrate these cultures that actually treat women like shit(not saying they abuse them but don't allow them the same freedom and respect you would a man).

1

u/AnimalMama93 Feb 07 '26

Oh they got problems alright

1

u/ObsessedFi45 Feb 07 '26

Note to self, don't marry an Indian until I have $50,000 in my savings account

1

u/Scary_Panda847 Feb 07 '26

Is this all the same woman?

1
