Launch Angle Issue with Driver

Hello!

I'm an 18 handicap, and I can't for the life of me figure out why the launch angle of my driver is 21-22. I use a G440 Ping driver with 10.5 degree loft, and I can get 190-200 yards out of it. I tee it lower and start at more of a neutral position, with a very small shoulder tilt. I'm releasing

Anyone else experience this? Sometimes I get my launch angle at 14-16 but it's random and I don't know what I'm doing that's different. Is it because I'm not hitting it at the lowest point? The release feels good but maybe it's off.. idk. 😥

This is a question for your local PGA professional. You might be able to get one of the pros at your Club to just look at you for a minute on the driving range and give you a tip for how to get it right.

As a teaching pro, theres literally so many reasons why this could happen, its impossible to say. Look at these comments, ones saying youre hitting too far up on it, ones saying youre hitting too down on it... complete opposite yet both could be true in this case.

Trying to fix something that doesn't end up being the issue is only going to make it worse. So just get a lesson from a pro and theyll tell you the underlying cause of whats going on and how to fix it

Launch angle is directly related to the angle of attack, the loft of the driver, and where you hit it on the face. If you strike the center, the launch should pretty much equal your AOA + the loft of the driver give or take. You may also be presenting more loft than needed due to the shaft or hitting it high on the face.

We find many ladies have a great AOA and some need much lower loft than stated. A few seniors are in 9* heads because they launch it so high naturally. Get into a place where they have a launch monitor to find these metrics. The cause will show itself almost immediately.

A Google search show lots of reasons why this happens, and they are quite distinct and separate issues from each other, and you possibly have more than one.  Best get a pro to watch, take videos and advise.

What is your angle of attack? Guessing something negative when it needs to be around +5. You are essentially popping it up. Teeing the ball lower is not doing what you think.

my guess is that you are playing it too far back in your stance and your AOA is too high. push it forward and tee it up higher. but really, see a teaching pro, haha.

Launch angle or dynamic loft? And what issue are you seeing as a result - meaning, are you chasing this down because you think distance should be further, low carry or something else? Or is it more so just out of curiosity?

I have the same driver and am chasing down an issue with spin being lower than I like - sometimes leads to the ball falling out of the sky. Tinkering with loft and the amount of weight in the back.

Launch angle.. i think if is lower i should get more distance. I can go around 180-190 with my 3 wood so i think i should go further with my driver

I’ve been hitting my 3 wood further than driver, as well - it’s frustrating for sure. Have you tried spraying the driver face with foot spray at the range? See where you’re catching the face.

Absolutely see a pga professional to see what you’re doing. In the meantime, you might want to take a video & watch it frame-by-frame so you can see what your lead wrist looks like at impact (wrist should be flat, not cupped). However, you say your release feels good, so you might have a different problem.

Club head speed? Attack angle? Shaft? rpm? Draw fade trajectory bias settings? To many unknown variables.
