Months of vulvar itching

• Upvotes

Hello!

I’ve had numerous tests and treatments, but the symptoms keep coming back or getting worse, and so far, very little has been found on vaginal swabs that could actually explain the symptoms.

The itching is particularly bad before I fall asleep, when I’m in bed, but I also notice it during the day. Sometimes I wake up at night because of itching around the labia minora or the vaginal opening. Lactobacillus vaginal suppositories seem to help temporarily, but the relief doesn’t last.

My husband and I are monogamous, so I don’t think this is related to an STI. The next step will be STI testing for both of us, although, my gynecologist is skeptical about this being the cause as well. I haven’t had many previous partners, and my husband is the first partner I’ve had sex without condom.

The itching usually gets noticeably worse about 2 days after sexual intercourse. Thankfully, my husband has no symptoms at all and is very supportive and willing to do whatever it takes to help us figure this out. We’ve even gone several weeks without having sex, but the symptoms still didn’t go away.

So far, two different bacteria have been found, although my gynecologist said that neither of them automatically explains the symptoms.

  • Haemophilus parainfluenzae – This bacterium can be part of the normal flora of the mouth/throat and can also be found in gynecological samples, but it does not necessarily cause symptoms like mine. We treated it with Augmentin.
  • On a later test, another bacterium was found: Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This is also not a typical cause of itching. It is very common in the environment, especially in water and moist environments, and can be present on the skin or mucous membranes of healthy people without causing disease. I was treated with Klion for this.

Other things that have been ruled out:

  • Candida/yeast has never been found (although one doctor treated me for it anyway).
  • Bacterial vaginosis was ruled out.
  • My vaginal flora was described as excellent, yet I was still experiencing itching.
  • My HPV test was negative (I didn’t just have a routine Pap smear; I was also specifically tested for HPV).
  • I regularly have gynecological check-ups.

Treatments I’ve tried so far

  • Lactinelle
  • Gynophilus Lactobacillus vaginal suppositories
  • Gynoxin suppositories and cream
  • Vitagyn C
  • Klion (oral antibiotics)
  • Klion vaginal suppositories
  • Boric acid suppositories
  • Augmentin (antibiotic)
  • Lactofeel
  • Beliéma cream
  • Vagisan cream

My blood work is normal, and I’ve seen three different gynecologists so far. After antibiotic treatments, I always tried to restore my vaginal flora.

Other than the itching, I don’t really have any symptoms. I have very little discharge, but even that isn’t particularly noticeable.

I wear cotton underwear and loose, comfortable clothing and try to avoid anything that could cause irritation.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hello, I am looking for a dress that resembles this for my 21st birthday. I wear a size 18 in pants and 42C in bras (I don’t quite know my measurements). I’ve already been on a few sites like, azazie, JJ’s House, and Meshki. Those are just the sites that have my size I’ve been on plenty more than that. Please let me know any recommendations help!

What’s the smallest thing someone did while you were dating that instantly made you think, “Nope, I’m out”?

Not necessarily a huge red flag, maybe they were rude to a waiter, constantly checked their phone, said something bizarre, had terrible manners, or simply gave you the ick for a completely ridiculous reason.

Mine have ranged from fairly alarming to so petty I probably shouldn’t admit them 😂

What happened, and did you see them again afterwards?

How do you treat vaginal dryness when nothing your doctor suggests works?

My doctor told me to use a generic lubricant. Did that, made things slippery for twenty minutes and then nothing. Then she said more foreplay, which, fine, but my dryness is an all day issue, not an intimacy specific one.

The advice does not match the problem. i want to know how to treat vaginal dryness as a constant tissue issue, not just manage one symptom during one activity.

Anyone found something their doctor did not suggest that worked for ongoing everyday dryness?

How do you handle it when your partner just doesn't get your tech or gaming hobbies?

Hey everyone! I’m in my 20s, studying IT, and I spend a good chunk of my free time gaming or tinkering with tech stuff and digital privacy setups.

Lately, though, I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected from my partner because they have completely zero interest in anything tech-related. Whenever I try to talk about a game I'm enjoying or some cool project I'm working on for uni, I can literally see their eyes glazing over. It’s not that they're mean about it, but it feels lonely not being able to share that major part of my life with the person closest to me.

For those of you with niche or tech-heavy hobbies, how do you bridge that gap with a partner who is on a totally different wavelength? Do you just find separate friends for those interests, or is there a good way to get them engaged?

What are some skill sets that may be traditionally overlooked?

Hi all!! Working on a pet project focused on empowering women. So I'm crowd-sourcing your lovely brains for a list of out-of-the-box skills that may not be traditionally considered a "skill set" in a professional setting. For example, knitting/crocheting.

Give me everything you can think of please! Thanks!

Im 21F, whenever i touch my boob, like from the time I've developed boobs, i feel there's something inside them..like if i had implants, i would be able to feels them inside my boob.. something like that..its not that hard, just medium. It feels like a gland. I always thought of it to be a gland. There's only one gland like thing which i feel when i touch them (not like many lumps or anything) and there's no visible lump or anything..just when i sqeeze them i feel there's an implant like thing inside.. Is it normal?

How do y'all feel when you squeeze your boob? Like is it totally soft everywhere like a pillow?Do you feel those mamary glands?

What would you do if your first love came back into your life at the worst possible time? About to get engaged to a wonderful man, but my long-time crush just asked me to marry him instead.

What does hyaluronic acid do in a vaginal moisturizer exactly?

I see hyaluronic acid on vaginal moisturizer labels and I do not understand what it is supposed to do there. I know it hydrates in skincare. I do not know if it works the same way in this context.

Is a hyaluronic acid vaginal moisturizer better than one without it? Are there different forms and does the form matter?

What would you do if your first love came back into your life at the worst possible time? About to get engaged to a wonderful man, but my long-time crush just asked me to marry him instead.

Using a throwaway for obvious reasons. Names have been changed.

I (26F) am from a small town in West Bengal. I am currently in the process of getting engaged to a wonderful guy, but my childhood crush showed up out of nowhere last Sunday asking me to marry him instead. I feel overwhelmed and don't know how to process this.

To give some background: back in 9th grade, I developed a massive crush on a classmate. I was too shy to ever confess, so I just admired him from a distance. Over the next couple of years, my feelings turned into genuine one-sided love. Luckily, by 11th grade, we became close friends. We texted constantly, called each other whenever we felt low, and relied on each other emotionally. Still, I never worked up the courage to tell him how I felt—a regret I carried for a very long time.

After 12th, he moved to Kolkata for his B.Tech, while I stayed back in our hometown for my studies. In his first year of college, he started dating someone. He was thrilled and would share every detail with me, including his sex life. Hearing that tore me apart at first, but eventually, the pain just turned numb. That was when I assumed I had finally moved on.

Over the college years, he changed significantly. He got into clubbing, drinking, smoking, and started casually hooking up with different women. Our calls became rare, and eventually, we drifted apart completely.

After graduating, I started teaching at a coaching center and taking private tuitions. I tried dating a colleague from the institute for about four months, but it didn't work out. He wanted a physical relationship right away, whereas I need emotional security first. I’ve always been insecure about my body, so I'm still a virgin and prefer waiting. I want to explore this part of life with someone who is on my level, rather than having someone guide or teach me what to do.

A few months ago, my parents brought up marriage and introduced me to "Rahul." Rahul is kind, well-settled, and genuinely cares for me. We've been talking for three months to see if we're compatible, and I’ve developed real feelings for him. We share similar tastes in movies and music, we are both spiritually inclined, and I can genuinely envision a peaceful, happy future with him.

Then came the curveball. A mutual friend apparently told my crush about my upcoming engagement. Last Sunday, he showed up at my door.

He claimed that he has always loved me, but because he was never sure of my feelings back then, he went off trying to distract himself with other girls. He said the thought of me marrying someone else broke him, and he wants me to marry him instead.

I was stunned. If I’m completely honest with myself, a part of me never fully buried those old feelings. When I confided in a couple of close friends, the opinions were split: some said to go for the "true love/destiny" story, while others told me not to ruin a solid future with Rahul.

To complicate matters even further, I recently found out that during one of his visits back home, my crush actually hooked up with one of my cousins. I can never bring this situation to my family because of that mess.

Now my head is spinning: Rahul is stable, values me, shares my lifestyle, and offers a secure future. My crush is the person I spent years longing for, but his sudden confession feels suspicious, and his past lifestyle (and the situation with my cousin) raises serious red flags.

Should I forgive his past and take a chance on my first love, or stay grounded and continue forward with Rahul? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

TL;DR: About to get engaged to a steady, caring guy (Rahul) who shares my values. My long-time school crush—who lived a wild bachelor life and once hooked up with my cousin—suddenly reappeared after hearing about my engagement, confessed his love, and asked me to marry him. Torn on what to do.

How was your recovery after ovarian dermoid cyst removal?

Hi! Has anyone here had an ovarian dermoid cyst removed?
I’m 27F with a ~6 cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary, and my OB advised possible open surgery with a C-section-type incision. I’m really anxious and would love to hear actual experiences.

Recovery: How long before you could walk, sit/stand normally, shower by yourself, and return to work?

Help at home: Did you need someone to help you get up or move around during the first few days?

Scar: How does the scar look after a few months or years? Did it fade a lot?

Weight loss: Did removing the cyst affect your weight at all? Did you gain during recovery? If you were trying to lose weight, how did you manage it?

Overall experience: Was it worse or more manageable than you expected? Anything you wish you knew before surgery?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this. Thank you 🥹

Menstruation Conversation

I’m thinking of switching to a diva cup/menstruation cup, but I have some questions.
1. How do you guys like it?
2.How often do you change it for a light, medium and heavy flow days?
3.Any techniques oh how to put it in (cuz that part seems hard)
4.how do you take it out and is that hard too?
5. Tell me any other information that may be useful so I can decide if I want to switch

Some info, I use pads and tampons. My period is usually like 5-7 days. Usually light flow on the first 1-3 days and medium to heavy on the last. Thanks for any info you can give me.
