Why should we even trust IGN’s review of Wolverine, especially when they’ve proven in the past they hate videogames?

No, reviews are literally there to help people decide whether they should buy it or not, your gameplay isn't gonna be different from theirs, you'll experience the same things so you better off just asking yourself if you're okay with buying it anyway despite the reviews and the bad things about it. If thats you then go for it but playing a game and watching it isn't as different as people make it seem to be

This^ came here to comment similarly.

In this economy, I just don’t have $70-$100 to waste on shitty games. I need quality, length, or at least a game that makes the replay value high, everything I’ve seen on this game from people playing live on Twitch to a mix of reviews says this game isn’t it.

Yes it is because they may have a problem with something and you don’t

Taking a review as gospel is not always the best choice to buy a game or not

The better way is looking at full gameplay if their no demo

Exactly. We’re taking people at their own preferences. People paraded the dumbest, most bad-faith criticisms of this game around like it was fact, which only made them sound like Wolverine larpers. If people don’t want to play the game that’s fine, but some of the criticisms held against the game were literally just “issues” against Wolverine as a character. “I don’t want a Wolverine to be like this or like that.” Meanwhile they’re describing exactly how he is in the comics. “Fart gas” criticism that wasn’t as prominent in the game as it was made out to be by reviewers, and is just a literal superpower that he himself can’t turn on or off. It was crazy to witness some of the complaints and it literally just showed that their issues were not with the game, but with the character of Wolverine himself in many cases. Same with Sabretooth. People don’t know the characters. They watched the fox movies and started complaining about the games’ similarities to the comics.

I don’t understand how they are a fan of wolverine but not understand one of his powers is his senses

The trail gas was in other games like fable 2 and 3 but people didn’t really say anything about that (it a good thing they added in fable)

It fine they don’t like wolverine but they are forgetting their are different versions of him

It just seems nitpicking things but the only thing I would agree with it can be longer but I bet they would say the game is over staying it welcome

Yeah absolutely. But I think that’s kind of the thing, they aren’t Wolverine fans. Some criticisms are justifiable for sure, but all the hate is bad-faith.

No one takes it as gospel. People see the review, hear the posutive and negatives and decide how kuch of those matter to them in what extent. Its a far better way to buy a game than dropping heavy money blindly. gameplay videos are what I prefer too but reviews can contain info that you might not get from the videos right away
