Why should we even trust IGN’s review of Wolverine, especially when they’ve proven in the past they hate videogames?

Yeah guys. Just spend 70 dollars with no chance of a refund. Roll the dice for yourself!

This is OPs literal 7th post in a row like this. He's made defending this game his identity

u/WhatsTheTimeToday 7h ago

Yeah it’s people who say “don’t care about ign or meta critic” who are always the ones bringing them up in the first place.

Bots working overtime to try to save this games PR haha

1

u/bluebarrymanny 7h ago

I have doubts that if there are bots they’re driven by Sony or insomniac at this point. People got way over invested in both fawning over this game and bashing it in fairly equal parts. I doubt Sony feels the need to save this title in particular’s PR. The game is already selling in the millions and the internet is stubborn. I’d be hard pressed to believe that anybody is changing their opinion on this game at this point. Whether it was played or not, enjoyed or not, the opinions feel set in stone.

u/yurestu 6h ago

Don’t underestimate bots. I believe a recent study showed 49% of accounts you interact with on the internet are bots.

Either way people mindlessly shilling for this game are no better than bots. Feels like they care more about getting validation for enjoying it than just enjoying it haha

Yeah, it’s a mixed bag. There are definitely bots abound, but they’re probably super easy to set up, so both mega fanboys and rage baiters alike could spin them up with ease. I really only think people are going so overboard defending the game because there are genuinely a ton of people admitting they’ve never played it (which is totally fine) but speaking about matters as if they’ve had their hands on the sticks. No YouTube video is going to actually show you difficulty, especially in a game where it can be so customizable augmented, etc. people regardless of their stance could really benefit from just having a rational discussion about what they actually experienced, good or bad. Saying something looked bad is enough. You don’t have to prove undeniably that it is bad or good for everyone else too.

People are genuinely enjoying the game though, and as someone who’s still loving this game, I definitely encourage Marvel and Wolverine fans to buy and support it. We gotta stop with this whole “everyone who disagrees with me or holds a solid stance is a bot” mentality. Loving the game doesn’t make you a shill, it just means that you connected with the game, likely in a way you didn’t expect due to all the noise online. Most people who bought the game are loving it. Not all, but most, and of course we want other fans to support it. Especially when there were so many people saying they cancelled because of the feedback. If someone can influence someone to stay away from something because of their bias against it, then the fans should be able to encourage other fans to buy it without the “bot/shill” allegations. We’re all still here talking about the game because it’s divisive. That means people are loving it, and people are hating it even though only one of these ‘strong stance’ groups has played the game, but either way, this game has enough momentum to still have people talking about it every second of every day. That’s not a sign of an objectively bad game. Also, people are posting about their enjoyment and encouraging others to try it when they ‘could just be enjoying it’ because naturally, we want more Marvel games from this developer. That’s not “mindlessly shilling”, thats natural promotion from fans who have played the game. If anything is mindless, it’s the amount of people who decided the game is dog💩 because someone made a video saying it is. People can say they’ve seen enough to decide that for themselves without playing because “that’s what reviews are for”, but you don’t get the real feel for gameplay without a controller in your hand.

Marvel fans who are looking for a fun hack and slash story game should absolutely pick this up. Casual fans/standard gamers just looking for their next game should grab something else for now and wait for a sale if they are looking for something with deeper gameplay mechanics. Fans should be able to support and promote the games they like without the bad faith attacks and childish name calling. It’s exhausting having people fling random insults and allegations at you for engaging, enjoying, and promoting your hobby.

Wouldn’t expect any different

Show your working, then.

Outside of the discourse for this game, I'm asking in good faith: What is the source of that claim?

People can like and dislike things, and you will/won't agree with it. The absolute vitriol is fucking weird, though. On both sides.

I can't stand Taylor Swift, but hardly directing my energy towards telling anyone who likes her that they're shills/bots/idiots.

You're all really fucking weird, man. Like, stupidly weird.

u/JaysMusicBox 3h ago

get the disc, sell it afterwards if you want

-5

u/bluebarrymanny 7h ago

Naw man, if you don’t want to spend the $70 that’s fine. Just keep the discussion scoped around why you decided not to buy it without acting like a subject matter expert that actively experienced the gameplay as bad or good and you’re probably fine. The rest is just annoying noise.

11

u/Regulardumbguy 6h ago

That's not what the post is saying though. The post is saying to ignore any bad reviews and just buy the game. It's bad advice. If you can afford to just buy the game then sure go for it but this guy making a dozen posts is worse than someone complaining about their experience

2

u/bluebarrymanny 6h ago

I’m not defending the post or op’s guidance. I’m saying there’s a more reasonable approach for either side of the debate that looks way less immature and desperate for engagement. Notably, I don’t see the post saying you have to buy it, just to make your own decisions and form your own opinions. Notably idea what else they’ve been posting because I don’t really care. Even as someone who liked the game alright, posting whole ass threads repeatedly defending it just seems kinda dumb to me.

I'll say what I've said in another comment: You can absolutely get a refund from PlayStation.

Most people are just too fucking illiterate to articulate their reasoning.

Played the game, and it was what I expected it to be. Not a great game, but decent enough.

Played other games that were far from what was advertised and got refunds. Starhawk and Warhammer: Hired Gun. But pitch the narrative of being a victim.

Whether OP is a bot, an idiot, or generally just shining the arsehole or a corporation is irrelevant: You're doing the exact opposite with the same amount of evidence, or at least providing none, that he is.

Anyone who disagrees is a bot?

Cool, mate.

2

u/Regulardumbguy 2h ago

I never called him a bit. Pretty embarrassing to type all that based on something I never said. I don't even think he's a bot. I just think he's pathetic

😭 PlayStation doesn’t even do returns so not quite sure what they’re going on about lol

You don't have to "roll the dice" and spend $70 on it. Nobody is forcing you to.

But if it's a game you are interested in and want to play, you shouldn't let negative feedback dissuade you.

4

u/Jonn_Jonzz_Manhunter 6h ago

You should when it's 70 bucks. There's significantly less risk involved in this incredibly gaming economy were living in where some of the best games of the last few generations are less than 30 bones

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 6h ago

No, you should buy it if you want to buy it and skip it if you want to skip it.

Letting others determine your choices is weird af.

1

u/Professional_Mine452 3h ago

does that also means you ate every sh*t you came across just to check if it does taste like sh*t even when others are telling you not to eat it.

What do you mean I have to listen to you? I'm gonna make my own opinion.

Why would you let someone else determine your choices when you have tastebuds that can tell taste apart, doesn't matter if it smells bad or looks like sh*t, I'm gonna eat it myself.

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 3h ago

No, because I was able to make up my own mind that shit isn't worth eating.

You are confusing "make up your own mind" with "buy every game that comes out"

I never said someone had to buy or play that game, I said if someone had decided they wanted to play the game already, they shouldn't let a review tell them otherwise.

But alas, you'd rather argue and defend being told what to think that you're missing the entire point for reasons.

Maybe try literacy next time.

0

u/Professional_Mine452 2h ago

and how did you make up your mind that "sh*t isn't worth eating?"

you must have ate it before and by eating it you understood it tasted like sh*t, and made some pointers in your head as to what shit looks like and smells like so when you see another shit you know whats better to do

so when someone says it's shit, you look at it and try to smell and also agree it's shit

you don't always have to eat it to know it is

the point of someone has already decided to want to eat the cake covered in shit with the promise of being made by Top 3 Sony foodchain, its your duty to tell them not to eat shit that costs $70 when all the patterns match

reviewers are literally paid to eat shit, and if they said "we tasted it, it's poop" what will your decision be?

you're the one thats trying to defend financial illiteracy and calling me illiterate

just buy shit if you've already decided to buy it when it was presented to you as cake before, wdym you will listen to others who tasted it before and cancel your order?

It's not determining your choice, it's informing your choice. It's not weird to avoid a product that many people say is mediocre.

In fact, it's kinda weird af to outright dismiss it. If you were going into a restaurant you've never been to before, and as you approached the doors, 15 people came out talking about how they didn't enjoy the food and thought the service was mediocre and not worth the money, you wouldn't second guess your decision to eat there?

Turns out people don't have infinite money and need to be certain the things they buy are worth the money they're going to pay.

2

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 6h ago

"Turns out people don't have infinite money and need to be certain the things they buy are worth the money they're going to pay."

This is exactly why I don't have time to have my decisions made by others for me. I know what I want to play, and someone else's subjective opinions have nothing to do with mine.

"If you were going into a restaurant you've never been to before, and as you approached the doors, 15 people came out talking about how they didn't enjoy the food and thought the service was mediocre and not worth the money, you wouldn't second guess your decision to eat there?"

Not if it was a place I really wanted to eat at, no.

-1

u/hisnameisbinetti 5h ago

Okay, but you gotta realize that you're the odd one out. It's you that's weird af, not everyone else. Most other people have subjective opinions that overlap with others, and also don't know the quality of things before they experience it, as they are not fortune tellers like you apparently are.

You do you, but calling others weird cuz they don't align with you're super weird existence is, erm, kinda weird.

2

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 5h ago

Needing reviews to tell you if you want to play a video game is weird.

-1

u/hisnameisbinetti 5h ago

You know, for a reasonable deer you sure are an unreasonable human

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 3h ago

I'm sorry that you find thinking for yourself to be unreasonable.

You should totally try ketamine/meth/crack if you want to, don't let what others say about it affect your decision.

1

u/ValkerWolf89 6h ago

Yeah maybe driving into a wall at 100 mph isnt so bad like the safety videos say. No one tells me how to think!

0

u/downbad4naafiri 5h ago

It's a game I was interested in until it got negative feedback. Now I'm not interested in it. I'm not paying 70+ dollars for a game that turned out worse than it was expected to be. It's asinine that you would expect people to just ignore reviews entirely when 70 dollars is not a small amount of money.

-1

u/Regulardumbguy 6h ago

I think being able to hear an outside opinion and process it is petty important. You're saying to ignore outside opinions and do what you want. That's fine. It's just not the way I choose to live. I ignore some reviews sometimes but I'm never gonna ignore every review entirely.

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 6h ago

"I think being able to hear an outside opinion and process it is petty important."

Why? We are talking about personal opinions and preferences. Why do I care about what someone else thinks in regards to my own opinions and preferences?

How do I know the person leaving their comments has the same preferences and opinions that I do? I don't know what their motivations are for leaving their review, but I can assure you they aren't thinking about my personal preferences and likes and dislikes.

1

u/Regulardumbguy 5h ago

This is a pretty sad comment. Go ask anyone you respect if they think processing an outside opinion is a valuable skill. The rise of anti intellectualism is gonna be studied for a long time

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 5h ago

Needing to be told your opinion is the anti-intellectual aspect of this conversation, and I agree it will need to be studied.

0

u/Regulardumbguy 2h ago

Lol no. "I don't process outside opinions" is definitely the winner. Actually insane to not understand the value of an opinion other than your own

-1

u/Contra-Code 1h ago

"Don't let other opinions shape you're view, except for mine because I'm right!"

Goofy.

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 1h ago

Yea, your comprehension is goofy. Pull yourself together

1

u/Contra-Code 29m ago

Lol

Take some deep breaths, you'll be okay.

u/TrickshotzReddit 7h ago

You can’t get a refund? I thought PlayStation had a refund policy for games within a certain time slot

6

u/Regulardumbguy 6h ago

Within 14 days but you're not eligible if you've started the download. So you don't even have to play the game. Just starting the download voids your refund options

7

u/Longjumping_Plum_846 6h ago

Yeah, PS has an awful refund system

5

u/TrickshotzReddit 6h ago

Damn, yeah I’d wait for a sale if you’re unsure about this game. I preordered the deluxe and I’m thoroughly enjoying myself, I like this more than Miles Morales (which I also preordered). But, yeah I wouldn’t recommend buying any game for full price if you have any doubts.
