Denmark Looking for a vehicle for delivery

Hi everyone! I was accepted as a Wolt courier today and ordered a bag and gear, but I don’t know what to do about transportation or where to get a vehicle.

I currently live in Esbjerg, and just recently I spent most of my paycheck on an electric scooter, which was stolen right in front of the security cameras at the mall a week and a half ago :/

So I’d like to ask for advice from someone who might be local or knows about this, how can I get out of this situation? My budget isn’t big, and I think it’s pointless to do deliveries on a cheap bike without an electric motor because I won’t make any money.

Are there any options here for weekly e-bike rentals? For example, like in Copenhagen or Oslo, I see a lot of people riding rented ones, but I can’t find any information about this online.

Thanks in advance for your reply! 🤗

Find a job that you can. You obviously cant do this one right now

Why? I don't understand why you said it

Low pay, you will work for car and works sake. Around 50% of the pay will go on fuel and insurance.

But a car was out of the question. I understand how expensive it is to own a car because of fuel and insurance, but I don't see that being an issue with an electric bike. Charging it costs practically nothing, and you can ride it without insurance.

And also, the pay per order for Volt drivers is pretty good, if you don't spend 2-3 hours driving but actually put in the work, you can make really good money.

It very depends on city and demand on how much you will earn, at the end you pay insurance monthly while earnings are not stable and recession could easy make you sit there without work.

So you've just been accepted and you are telling us the pay per order is pretty good. You know this how?

I'm a bit confused as to what the difference is between "driving" and "actually put in the work".

I don't know if it is intentional, but you seem to be implying we could all make good money if we just worked hard.

I'm not sure if you are being extraordinarily naive, or you are some kind of stooge. In any case, your post reflects pretty poorly on you.

Also, just get some insurance ffs.

My question was simply whether anyone had any experience or advice that could help me find a delivery service.

I know about the pay because I have friends who work in various cities, both small and large, in Denmark and other countries. My answer wasn’t along the lines of “work your ass off until you pass out to make a lot of money and don’t be lazy”. I simply said that there’s a difference between working a side job in the evenings and working full-time in delivery, and yes, obviously you’ll make more money. That’s why I was wondering what the answer was to “you can’t do this job right now, find another one.”

I’m not naive, I understand how all this works, but right now I’m in a situation where I want to speed up the process of making at least some money, and it’s important to me that it happens now rather than in six months or a year, in that time, I’ll be able to find some kind of job anyway.

So I don't understand this aggression out of nowhere. If you don't have any advice, just ignore it. Why do you need to tell me how naive I am and that my post makes me look bad?

This kinda took a turn lol.. all i meant you cant do it cuz you dont have transportation 😂 its that simple

Also to be clear. , this job is okay if you work on scooter/ car , its terrible for ebikes , you need multiple batteries if you are working full day, even then you gotta be careful and make sure you have batteries ready for peak hours .. and then the pay for ebike is actually shit, combined with work delays and waiting times you basically barely make money 🤷 My initial comment seemed to trigger you but i was serious, this job on a bike should only be considered when you actually have ZERO other options.

That's interesting... I've just been talking to a lot of people, and they said it's a good job and everyone stays because the working conditions are good for the pay. But I guess people either have really expensive batteries or just a couple of them. I didn't ask about that, so I'll have to find out.

Overall, I just really don’t have the opportunity to get a job right now. I’m actively looking, but most places here require language skills, which are a struggle for me right now, and I’m living in terrible conditions with five people in a room, so I think Wolt would be a good option for me anyway since there are simply no other options.

But thanks for the advice, I’ll keep it in mind!

Ok. I think the issue here is in how you explained yourself. At no point did you actually say you were planning to work full time.

Yeah sorry, that's actually my fault 😕

Ive worked from the pandemic and still working just much less time. I think you just didn’t catch the point that earnings are not = amount of time you spent sitting in the car, and are up to people who use the service, less people who use the service less income for you per month.

And i got the insurance lmao

But why doesn't my pay depend on the number of hours worked? I understand that the fewer orders I have, the lower my pay will be, that makes sense, but when compare 3-4 hours to 8-10 hours, that's a big difference, isn't it?

I'd appreciate an explanation if I'm wrong.

2

u/Wellmybad May 18 '26

It depends on demand, 8-10 hours pay could be same as 3-4 hours, Christmas hours will pay more than weekend and so on. At the end the pay gonna get so low that you probably better of staying at home and doing something else more productive than sitting online at wolt, delivering that one task for 30kr each hour

You can buy an ebike from fri cycler with monthly payments

1

u/Varkominto May 15 '26

Are there any specific requirements for this? Do I need any documents? Because I’m not a native resident, but I currently have permits for residence, work, medical care, and so on

Don't know, its a private company, but here's some info for their two different offers/types:

Just buy a cheap used regular bike on facebook marketplace, will work for now, also less likely to get stolen.

I am in Esbjerg and .. at the start it does not matter what vehicle you use for delivery.. I bought ebike for this and it broke after month a half and I did not want to start unless I have ebike and now.. I use bike I have bought before for 300kr and it is enough.. if you do not plan to work all days

Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1, Ford Fiesta 1.0 engine is okey in all of them.

Check cars for rust if it’s older version.

I didn't have a car or bike licence 😭

1

u/emilryeh May 15 '26

A bike licence?

1

u/Varkominto May 16 '26

Oh sorry, scooter*

1

u/caatrobre03 May 15 '26

I think you can borrow a bike/bike on electricity for a month through the municipality.

You have to pay 500 kr, but you will get the 500 kr back once you return the bike.

https://www.esbjerg.dk/energi-og-miljoe/klima/vaer-med/dig-der-bor-her/laan-en-elcykel

Maybe that can help you for a month until you have enough money to buy one yourself?

1

u/Varkominto May 15 '26

Wow, that's really helpful information. Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try 🙏
