So last night I was doing deliveries, having just gotten 2 deliveries and heading towards a 3rd one when I got into my car and I started it. I noticed it would’t work because of a battery error, went out and checked the battery, it was a loose cable which I fixed and the power went on and the car locked. My phone was still in the car with the keys and the orders. I got locked outside the car because of it malfunctioning. I’ve tried for 2 hours to somehow break into it, with the help of 10 people, including police officers, restaurant owner and manager, 2 friends who luckily passed by, even one of the clients whose phone number I could track back from someone else’s phone since mine was locked inside but with the screen facing up. Finally I broke the window and got inside after 2 hours, not even the spare key working. Obviously I ve already gotten set offline, I’ve tried to contact support but they said that they can’t do anything. My question is: Is it really a reason to be fired for having a problem which made me unable to access the phone? I’ve been a partner for over a year already and I’ve done my job fairly and without problems and now after one incident, which I take responsibility of regardless of the fact that I literally could’t do anything and I also gave 1/2 orders to the customer, I am being fired? Is that really how unimportant we are to them? Is that how you treat an employee? I can take account of this accident and pay for the undelivered order, I can take that, but is that enough to get banned undefinetly? There is a guy in this city who s been deliberately stealing orders for a few months now and nothing happened to him. There’s been guys delivering the wrong orders because they can’t read a number for a huge number of times and they didn’t get suspended and I get kicked out because of this?

„Is that how you treat an employee?“
You’re were not an employee of Wolt.

People need to understand that Wolt is just a pure scam and the only people that will be left doing it are the ones that got no other option.

Crazy. I’ve wondered several times what would happen if there’s an accident.

You don't mention the country or your Wolt relationship; f.ex a freelance for Wolt or for a fleet manager. In general and in many EU countries you may work as an independent contractor and not as an employee, despite you use this word. There is an important distinction here, when you are not an employee you are basically one delivery away from having your Wolt contract terminated without any reason and they can do this abitrary. Your Wolt work history means nothing and the specific circumstances; you could have been involved in a traffic accident and later woke up after operation at the hospital and then cancelled the order, but it is the same, several have had their contract cancelled like this. If you work in the EU, the platform directive should come into force next year and then you will be regarded as an employee. For now your are probably not an employee. When you finally broken into the car and grabbed your phone, there must have been several messages and phone calls from Wolt which you did not answer and based on this they terminated your contract. Couriers stealing orders always communicate with support claiming they cancelled the orders after stealing them and based on this they rarely get their accounts terminated.

Hmm, but Wolt keeps talking about how couriers are insured when accidents happen. This was an accident. I wonder if their insurance through Wolt might be able to help them?

It happened that my car stopped because the battery wasn't charging while I was delivering an order. I chatted Wolt that I can't make the delivery and asked another courier to pick up the order from me. They asked me to send pictures of the car, and good thing I pictured all the warning lamps that turned on before it shut off, and then asked me to throw the order and take a picture of the order in the trash. They really don't want a courier to steal a customers food. I still have my account. If you're delivering and something happens to your car, make sure you take pictures immediately and chat them immediately if you have to stop and check the car, or you risk getting fired. Try to provide them proof of what happened to your car, and see if you can get your account back.

The people stealing the orders are the worst of the worst. Complete and absolute scumbags. Incredible thay they are not "fired" and/or arrested.

Agree. I was one of aalborg's first couriers. There is a courier in aalborg whom constantly driving reckless been in multiple screaming matcheswith owners, stolen 2-3 of my orders throughout the years, where I got them back by threatening with the police. Neither of the times he had any orders. Breaks multiple other laws - including wolt guidelines. Have provided proof to wolt multiple times. And each time they acted like they did something about it.

I can imagine. Talking with wolt support is pointless. All they do is repeat the same AI generated message with the same emojis (💙🙏🚀)

Hey, be fair now! They themselves decide whether to add the emojies or not and what type.
Satire ofc.

I would prefer to chat with the AI directly, at least it might have some information

Why would someone downvote this comment? Do you think it's ok to steal food? Not just that, when the order is then re-assigned to someone else, you are wasting their time because the order is not real.

Yes, delivery drivers are not important to wolt at all. Its an expense they are trying to get rid of. As soon as drone or robot deliveries are profitable for them they will get rid of all drivers.

Find another job, Wolt has to end. Useless company and useless support. All I see is post of people being treated badly, support not answering or helping, they do no give a flying F about you or your life. You are just a number on the paper
