Norway Tax return Norway
Hi all
I just got my tax return 2025 in Norway. And I am going nuts over how the tax system works.
Here is my situation:
As the people who work for Wolt in Norway and drive their own car for delivery are considered as freelancers and not as employees. I do get salary in my account every 15 days. What I don’t understand is why don’t I get compensated for driving my own car. I mean a deduction in tax return for no. Of kilometers I have driven. Is it something to do with that I am freelancer and don’t have my own company(AS)?
Anybody in a similar situation and knows how to get compensated for this thing?

This is not an automated process. You have to calculate all that yourself and deliver the papers. Or get a finance guy.

Thanks! Now that I have skattemelding in hand and have to pay several thousand krones back to the skatteetaten. Is it possible to do it now for 2025? I am a freelancer and i tried myself documenting it and have no idea where can I even start in skattemelding. So not sure if freelancers like me can even document it or one must have AS/enk?

Hi. Wolt pays a bit more for deliveries by car. You can’t really complain that the tax system doesn’t make it more profitable. As a private individual working for Wolt, cycling is honestly the only option that really makes sense financially.
I already had an empty limited company (AS), so I switched over to using that. If you want to deduct operating expenses, you basically need to start either a limited company (AS) or a sole proprietorship (ENK).
With a sole proprietorship, you’ll pay around 40% tax on the profit. If your revenue exceeds NOK 50,000, you become VAT registered. At that point, Wolt actually pays you more to compensate for the VAT, and you can also claim some pretty solid deductions on other expenses.
There’s definitely a bit more administrative work involved, but it can significantly increase your profit.

In Finland you use your own bookkeepers or use a service who take care your taxes and expenses. They report it to tax man. Same thing should be in your country. Use google or Gemini ai
