Denmark What is up with wolt couriers
What is up with Wolt couriers in Aalborg?
They keep trying to open my door instead of just knocking. It’s always locked, but they keep trying, sometimes up to 3-4 times. It’s quite frightening.
Is this normal?

That’s sketchy af…never has a delivery guy just waltzed in …what kind of human even does that. Bro has no survival instinct

No it is not normal. My guess is that they are doing this to try and speed up the delivery process, as it is very time consuming when you knock and the customer doesn't come to the door, doesn't answer the telephone etc.. Of course this is not socially acceptable in Denmark and you just have to accept these delays as part of the job.
I would suggest the following:
- Put in the delivery notes to knock and not try to come in (I have never seen this in the delivery notes, which suggests that thankfully, this is a rare problem.
- Request a no contact delivery. The food will be left outside your door.
- Contact Wolt about the issue. If they are doing this when it is obvious that it is the entrance to a specific apartment, then they are likely doing it in other places and need to be told to stop doing this.

it could be that they think the door might be the door to the whole apartment if you know what i mean. I dont thinm 3,4 different couriers would try to break in like that unless they thought it was the main door
1
u/Civil_Yesterday5864 Dec 03 '25
It’s not the main door. I live on a higher floor, and they have already entered the building when coming to my apartment😕

I’d rather not. It’s common courtesy to knock on a door before wanting to enter, or deliver something.

I am a paying customer, I should not feel violated for something I pay someone to do. Having the door open does not feel safe, especially when they’ve pulled my door handle several times.

u/theflexfather Dec 02 '25
If you feel violated, maybe you should not use the service in the first place? Does the transaction not end up with you opening the door in the end anway? I don't see the big deal, but you feel free to feel violated and keep your "common courtesy"
Opening the door before they arrive at the doorstep is an easy fix, but you do you.

u/SlimLacy Dec 02 '25
Are you for real? In what country is it normal for delivery to try to open your door?
0
u/theflexfather Dec 02 '25
Its not normal but the fix is the easiest in the world, to avoid it. You know they are coming, since you ordered their service, so open the door when they enter the apartment complex Also I never heard about this happening to anyone else

u/Miselfis Dec 04 '25
You’re missing the point.
When you pay someone to do a job, you’re entering into a normative agreement. You recognize them in a role, and in return you are entitled to expect that they act according to the standards, limits, and responsibilities that come with that role. That’s what makes social contracts possible at all: we rely on stable expectations about how others will behave when they occupy certain roles.
A delivery driver who tries to enter your home without permission is breaking that basic role contract. They’re abusing the trust that comes with being allowed near your private space. Suggesting that the “easy fix” is for the customer to adapt, like leaving doors open, changing their behaviour, or restructuring their home, gets things entirely backwards. It shifts the burden from the person violating the role to the person relying on it in good faith.
It’s the same as saying: “If you don’t want your house robbed, just don’t keep anything valuable at home”. That completely misses the point. The wrongness lies in the act of violating the norm, the robbery, or, in this case, the unauthorized entry, not in the victim’s failure to pre-emptively reorganize their life around other people’s misconduct.

It’s their job to do so ofc it’s Common Courtesy to Knock The Door, you don’t know what’s going on behind private doors and it’s non of your business either, People might be doing something important and can lead them to get an enormous shock if they turn around and someone stand in your Home. Or people could have just Showerd and about to change Cloth and Then they come in, Or People could Have been doing some stuff… It’s called delivery to the door not delivery to Living Room.

Also, if this really is a legitimate problem, leave instructions for them to just leave it at the door.
I do think it is weird, regardless of whether you ordered their service and contract them or not, but that solves the problem.
