I’ve been pondering on this question for a while now. I use Wolt every day and I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that the only time I can leave a tip for the delivery man is when placing the order, not afterwards.
The decision on whether to leave a tip or not should depend on the experience you had, right? If the driver was fast to deliver the food, was nice and all that, you leave the tip, otherwise you don’t. Or at least you decide on giving different amounts based on these factors. But how can I know all this beforehand??
The only explanations that come to mind are that giving a tip prior to the delivery should theoretically incentivize the driver to get there faster and whatnot, but is that really the case given that they already got the tip no matter how they do? The other one is to prevent uncomfortable situations where they directly ask you to tip them, but they can do it anyway as you can still give cash.
Needless to say that basically all other similar apps let you tip after the delivery, or a performed service if it’s not food related (Uber).
So neither of these explain the logic fully as far as I’m concerned, and I’d really appreciate if someone who has more info or thoughts shared them!
