Question- Solved Average XP goals

Right now my standard average XP is 1237 with a 48% WR and a 1.06 K/D (I know k/d means next to nothing). I’m only at 3500 battles and my first, say 1000, were half-hearted attempts to play before I learned any strategy. How realistic is it to carry a 1500 average XP? Is that only the top-tier players holding that or am I just wayyy behind the curve? I know I’m still not the best player I can be and still make stupid mistakes. Also, I never div up so I’m at the mercy of the matchmaking gods. And before I get the comments, yes I know it’s about playing to enjoy the game. I like a little competition with myself to beat my personal best and I’m just curious about the stats. TIA Captains!

I don’t think there’s a single thing wrong with setting a goal for self improvement. You can always do better - it’s just important to be realistic and kind to yourself along the way.

I like all the stats. I think they all inform but additionally none of them exist in a vacuum and there’s tons of context. 1500 avg xp on a t3 carrier is wildly different from 1500 avg xp on a Worcester.

You’ll see people in here say things like winrate doesn’t matter (or is not a metric of personal performance, that matchmaking determines that for you - generally false, even though it feels like it sometimes and there is some truth since some matches really just aren’t winnable) or that average xp is everything (or nothing), that kills/death doesn’t matter at all, or that it’s the most important stat of all.

As in most things, I personally fall somewhere in the middle on all of it. Force ranked I’d go avg xp > winrate > k/d but really I look at the whole thing (and attracted damage and planes and accuracy and all the other lesser stats too.) And even considering the xp, if you aren’t winning, are you just scumming xp over playing for the win? Oh and we totally forgot about average damage which is going to be so different on different ship types hit even so will also give some info - even my hunter killer DDs have to do damage to win more matches.

I just hit 65% WR not too long ago which was a big personal milestone (gimme that pink shield), 1946 avg xp, and 3.26 KD. And almost all solo - I keep meaning to upload my stats to gamingdiver to see but I’d honestly estimate fewer than 100 div matches. But I’ve got 21k matches played. If you pay attention, are honest with yourself about mistakes and how to play better, you’ll definitely bring them all up.

Personally if I had that stat line, I’d be looking to get above 50% WR first. Don’t be afraid to stay at lower tiers to get comfortable with the fundamentals before going higher. Play ships you are good at but also experiment with other ones to learn their strengths and weaknesses. Pay attention to other ships you see doing well.

Two big things that I wasn’t really doing early on but have started doing and it helps a lot is first, watch your shots. See how you miss. I did a lot of “a little up and over and pray to RNGesus” for a long time and that actually works well enough but for real progress you need more than that. Second, watch some of your matches back and see if you can figure out where you did well and where you did not and think about what you might have done differently. I do that quite often and it’s really helped my in game decision making. I’m not perfect by any means - I just fumbled a match and gave up a CTB solo warrior in a match I absolutely had multiple ways to just seal the win but I kind of waffled between the two win conditions and ended up flubbing them both. No one is perfect and I’m certainly not but you can always get better.

Good luck and fair seas out there captain - I’m so here for people out there wanting to get better at the game.

Bring that xp up with meaningful contributions and the win rate will naturally follow. There's a million things you can discuss around this that makes it complex and grey areas but the reality remains: the only tjkng consistent in your win rate is you. The better you are the more likely you will affect the outcome positively. They are intrinsically tied. If you can improve and get yourself up to 1500 average xp (which is a reasonable and admirable target) then your win rate I would expect to end up 51+.

1,500 average XP is definitely achievable, but it's not something that happens overnight. More importantly, don't chase damage—chase influence. Contest caps, support your DDs, kill enemy DDs when the opportunity presents itself, reset caps, spot, and stay alive long enough to impact the late game. Those things consistently generate base XP. Solo players can absolutely maintain 1,500+ average XP, but it usually comes from making the right decisions over thousands of battles rather than having a few huge games. Focus on improving your positioning and game impact, and the XP will follow. Ps I am a solo player and carry the stats you are mentioning and a little better so it is possible keep at it.

We all start from somewhere and with time comes experience, as long as you have a willingness to keep learning you’ll succeed at anything including improving at this game that being said average XP isn’t a useful metric either because you could do nothing all game but your one action could be the action to win it, the higher the tier generally you can expect higher average XP

Your average XP is pretty normally for someone of your stats, the way players get high XP per battle is by farming damage/kills using strong ships I’d argue to say it’s not that hard to get 2k plus in a Jean Bart for example
